Message: God’s Covenant With His Chosen People

Hello My Friend,

When you hear the words, “God’s chosen people” who do you associate that with? Is it Israel? Is it Christians? Is it Abraham? [1 Peter 2:9-10  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:  10  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.] God, may have chosen Abraham’s seed, in particular, Isaac’s to establish a nation of people dedicated to the only living God, but His chosen are those who willing come to Him through their faith in His Son, Jesus Christ. Jesus, said it this way.

[Luke 13:28-29,34-35  There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.  29  And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God. 34  O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto thee; how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen doth gather her brood under her wings, and ye would not!  35  Behold, your house is left unto you desolate: and verily I say unto you, Ye shall not see me, until the time come when ye shall say, Blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord.]

The city of Jerusalem, the capital of the nation, which should have been the leader in welcoming the prophets of the Lord and showing them every honor, had gotten a reputation sadly of killing them. The wickedness of persons and places that profess their religion and relation to God yet are far from the truth are quite provoking and grieving to the Jesus. There will come a day when the children of Israel will finally recognize Jesus as the Messiah, but by then He will come in His name, to judge the world in righteousness, [Acts 17:30-31  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:  31  Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.]

I think that the Psalms have more references to Christ in them than all the Old Testament books as out of the blue His words just show up. You can really start to understand how God is the author of Bible as the inspired writers just spoke His thoughts right in the middle of their prayers, thoughts, or testimonies. As we continue in the reading of Psalms, we are reminded of the great mercies of God and just how faithful He is to His people.

[Psalms 89:1-7  Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever: with my mouth will I make known thy faithfulness to all generations.  2  For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens.  3  I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant,  4  Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.  5  And the heavens shall praise thy wonders, O LORD: thy faithfulness also in the congregation of the saints.  6  For who in the heaven can be compared unto the LORD? who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the LORD?  7  God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, and to be had in reverence of all them that are about him.]

[I have made a covenant with my chosen,] God, makes covenants with many people and for different reasons and yet they all somehow have an affect on all people. The covenant He made with Noah affected all of us as He promised to never destroy the earth with a flood again, [Genesis 9:8-9,11  And God spake unto Noah, and to his sons with him, saying,  9  And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you; 11  And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.]

The covenant He made with Abraham, affected all of us when He promised to make him the father of so many, that it would be like trying to count the number of stars in the sky, [Genesis 15:5-7  And he brought him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and tell the stars, if thou be able to number them: and he said unto him, So shall thy seed be.  6  And he believed in the LORD; and he counted it to him for righteousness. 7  And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.]

That everlasting covenant was passed down to all of us who believe in this covenant, God, even confirmed it to Abraham, [Genesis 17:1-2,7  And when Abram was ninety years old and nine, the LORD appeared to Abram, and said unto him, I am the Almighty God; walk before me, and be thou perfect.  2  And I will make my covenant between me and thee, and will multiply thee exceedingly. 7  And I will establish my covenant between me and thee and thy seed after thee in their generations for an everlasting covenant, to be a God unto thee, and to thy seed after thee.]

Be thou perfect” now that is an understatement as even on a good day we fail God more times than we can count. God, is not actually expecting us to never sin again when He says that, what He wants is faithfulness and a little bit of faith that He can do what He says He will do. Perfection is actually where Jesus comes in, He is perfect and therefor those who have faith in Him, even though they still fail Him from time to time are made perfect through Him. They are a blessed people as they walk with their LORD.

[Psalms 89:15-21  Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance.  16  In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted.  17  For thou art the glory of their strength: and in thy favour our horn shall be exalted.  18  For the LORD is our defence; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.  19  Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.  20  I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him:  21  With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him.]

[I have exalted one chosen out of the people. I have found David my servant;] God, made a covenant with David that He would send His chosen one through His seed, [2 Samuel 7:12-13  And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.  13  He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.]

[of his kingdom for ever] The psalmist actually goes on to describe the covenant God made with David in reagards to sending His Son through His seed, [Psalms 89:27-34  Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.  28  My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.  29  His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.  30  If his children forsake my law, and walk not in my judgments;  31  If they break my statutes, and keep not my commandments;  32  Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with stripes.  33  Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him, nor suffer my faithfulness to fail.  34  My covenant will I not break, nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.]

[Nevertheless my lovingkindness will I not utterly take from him,] God’s covenant to David affected all who believe that He sent His only begotten Son by the way through his seed in that we also receive the loving kindness of God. God, may chasten His chosen people for their disobedience, but He will never break His everlasting life covenant with them because of the promise He made to them, [Romans 3:22-24  Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:  23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:]

Praise God for giving us a way to be justified freely through His Son! Those who receive Christ as their Saviour ought to be rejoicing in that. Even though we still face pain and sorrow through our faith we do have hope in the fact that we will get a reprieve from that one day.

[Psalms 96:1-6  O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth.  2  Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.  3  Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people.  4  For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods.  5  For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.  6  Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.]

[For all the gods of the nations are idols:] Did you realize that every nation has their own god that they worship? Every nation has either made up their own god or has recreated God in their own image thus creating a god. We who know the truth understand that there is only living God and He is also in the person of Jesus Christ Himself and we should never be ashamed to proclaim that.

[Psalms 96:9-13  O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.  10  Say among the heathen that the LORD reigneth: the world also shall be established that it shall not be moved: he shall judge the people righteously.  11  Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad; let the sea roar, and the fulness thereof.  12  Let the field be joyful, and all that is therein: then shall all the trees of the wood rejoice  13  Before the LORD: for he cometh, for he cometh to judge the earth: he shall judge the world with righteousness, and the people with his truth.]

[he shall judge the world with righteousness,] Here is that phrase again, Jesus, is the ultimate judge and we will all stand before Him. Jesus, is the only way to God, regardless of who believes in Him, [John 10:9-11,15-16  I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.  10  The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.  11  I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep. 15  As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.  16  And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.]

God, never did limit anyone from coming to Him regardless of what earthly family they came from, in fact, some of the most vilest people were converted and went on to become great testimonies for Christ. Since we whom have received Christ are saved by grace and not of our works the greatest offering that we can bring to God is our faith. Our faith in Christ does more than secure our home in heaven, it gives us a blessed life here on earth, even through the times that He purges us. It is actually Jesus who makes us into who we are as we.

[Psalms 100:1-5  A Psalm of praise. Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.  2  Serve the LORD with gladness: come before his presence with singing.  3  Know ye that the LORD he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.  4  Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.  5  For the LORD is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations.]

[Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all ye lands.] What is the joyful noise of Christ’s saints? His words as He speaks to them. His voice as He whispers in their ear. His prayers to our Father as He intercedes on our behalf on what we are praying to Him. We rejoice all day at the sound of His name because no matter how hard things get, He is faithful, He will never leave nor forsake us, and He will never go back on His promises, for He is our advocate, [1 John 2:1-5  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:  2  And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.  3  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.  4  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  5  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.]

[it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves;] The most incredible thing of all, is that we, with all of our quirks, with all our failures, and with all our trips and falls, it is God who made us exactly who we are today. And I am talking about our characteristics, and if there is one feature that God has given me that sometimes I wish I did not have, it is that I have the ability to bounce back whenever I get knocked down, [Philippians 3:13-15  Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,  14  I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.  15  Let us therefore, as many as be perfect, be thus minded: and if in any thing ye be otherwise minded, God shall reveal even this unto you.]

Well, it is not me who gets me back up, it is Jesus. It is a reminder that we are to always move forward, and never look back, other than realizing that it was God who had been guiding us all along and preparing us for where we are today, [Psalms 105:1-8  O give thanks unto the LORD; call upon his name: make known his deeds among the people.  2  Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.  3  Glory ye in his holy name: let the heart of them rejoice that seek the LORD.  4  Seek the LORD, and his strength: seek his face evermore.  5  Remember his marvellous works that he hath done; his wonders, and the judgments of his mouth;  6  O ye seed of Abraham his servant, ye children of Jacob his chosen.  7  He is the LORD our God: his judgments are in all the earth.  8  He hath remembered his covenant for ever, the word which he commanded to a thousand generations.]

[Remember his marvellous works that he hath done;] God is so faithful to me, I know I do not deserve it, I sure fail Him every day, but He never fails me. He has made a promise to never leave nor forsake one soul who put their sincere faith and trust in His Son for their salvation. I love the fact that even before you call upon Christ’s name that His mighty arm reaches out to us, He takes a hold of our hand and never lets go of it, [John 10:27-30  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  29  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand. 30  I and my Father are one.]

[He hath remembered his covenant for ever,] God, is so faithful to every single soul with a pure heart who has sought and accepted His Son as their Saviour. Yes, we will face some pain. God is faithful. Yes, we will mess up. God is faithful. Yes, we will get angry. God is faithful. Yes, we will sin. God is faithful. God, knows our faith in Him, and He knows the way that we take. His covenant with us is forever, and we too will see our father Abraham when Jesus comes for all of His chosen people. Sadly, those who reject Christ will learn the hard way that they should have trusted Christ when they had the opportunity, [Luke 13:28-30  There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.  29  And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.  30  And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last.]

Jesus Christ Revealed/Magnified: [Psalms 89:27-28  Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth.  28  My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You, for sending Your Son to save me. Through my faith alone in Christ’s sinless death, burial, and resurrection, I made a covenant with You of everlasting life. I am one with You because of my faith alone, and I thank You for all the times that You had been there for me even when I was not so faithful to You. Since You created me, You molded me and prepared me for who I am today, and even with all my quirks, You continue to use me and that is something that I honor and cherish and hope to not only continue until my dying breath, but leave a legacy for others to continue. Lord, lead me and guide me, put Your hedge about me, protect me and keep me safe. Give me Your mercies and grace to get through the day, keep me in Your Word and following it so that I can be a faithful and Godly testimony of Christ living in me. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
