The Plan of Salvation As Told In The Old Testament.
God has laid it upon my heart to give the plan of salvation through the teachings of the Old Testament. Through the New Testament, we follow what is known as the Romans Road, in which the Book of Romans gives most of the Scripture that tells us how we can have eternal life. The Old Testament is known as Jerusalem’s Road, which takes us through many of the prophetic and law books to show us how we can have eternal life.
Perhaps you have never known or are curious about what God and Jesus is all about. Maybe you grew up around religion and have never heard the true Gospel. Or maybe you even blocked God out of your life completely due to circumstances or wrong teaching and have a fear that God is angry with you, does not love you, or you even question whether or not He exists.
No matter what the reason, I am here to tell you that God does exist, He does love you, and He wants to be in your life and give you the wonderful life He has created you for. Most of all, regardless of what you have done in your past, God wants you in heaven.
1. All Have Sinned
“For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not.” – Ecclesiastes 7:20.
Sin is any wrong doing in the eyes of God, it is any action, thought, or word spoken that is immoral, deceitful, or illegal. Sin includes more than just stealing, cheating, and adultery, it is also includes acts such as thinking about sinful acts, lying, anger, bitterness, and doubt. No one is without sin, no matter how much one tries to keep the wrongs out of their lives, all have sinned.
2. God’s Price For Sin
“The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin.” – Deuteronomy 24:16.
God’s price for sin is death. This goes all the way back to the very first sin, when Adam and Eve sinned against God by eating fruit from the tree that was forbidden. “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.” – Genesis 2:17.
God was not speaking of just a physical death here, it is a spiritual death also, known as the death of the soul. “Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.” – Ezekiel 18:4.
3. Realize That You Are A Sinner Too
“But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.” – Isaiah 59:2.
“Behold, I was shapen in iniquity; and in sin did my mother conceive me.” – Psalm 51:5.
This does not mean that your mother sinned, and that is why you were conceived. This goes all the way back to Adam and Eve, by their eating fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil their eyes were open to sin, and that placed a curse on them that was passed down to all of us, a sin nature, it is in our nature from the time we are born to commit sin.
4. Realize God Made A Way For You To Avoid This
“For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.” – Ezekiel 18:32.
You must understand that God is a just God, and that means He expects the people He created to obey His rule, and if we do not then we get punished for it. God is also a forgiving God, meaning He loves you, He created You, He made you in His image, He knows everything about you, and yet, He has no pleasure in seeing you, one of His beloved creations die and end up in hell. Therefore, He came up with a plan the second Adam and Eve sinned to pay the price for you. “And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.” – Genesis 3:15.
This means that God will send His own seed through a woman, and it will be wounded or die for our sin.
“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.” – Isaiah 7:14.
God sent His perfect son to be wounded for our sins. This was an immaculate conception, meaning no man touched her. By God sending His Son through an immaculate conception, this enabled Jesus to be born without the sin nature we are all born with. Immanuel means God with us, meaning He came here Himself to save us.
5. Realize How Jesus Paid The Price For You
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.” – Isaiah 53:5.
Immanuel (Jesus) paid the price of your sin by giving His own life as an offering. When Jesus gave His life of the cross, it satisfied God’s punishment for sin. “Yet it pleased the LORD to bruise him; he hath put him to grief: when thou shalt make his soul an offering for sin, he shall see his seed, he shall prolong his days, and the pleasure of the LORD shall prosper in his hand.” – Isaiah 53:10.
6. Realize That Jesus Arose Three Days Later
“Now the LORD had prepared a great fish to swallow up Jonah. And Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights. And said, I cried by reason of mine affliction unto the LORD, and he heard me; out of the belly of hell cried I, and thou heardest my voice. When my soul fainted within me I remembered the LORD: and my prayer came in unto thee, into thine holy temple. But I will sacrifice unto thee with the voice of thanksgiving; I will pay that that I have vowed. Salvation is of the LORD.” – Jonah 1:17,2:2,7,9.
Jonah was in the belly of a whale for three days and three nights, this was the sign that Jesus gave the Jews concerning His death, burial, and resurrection. However, Isaiah also speaks of Christ’s resurrection and how those who come to Him will resurrect also. “Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead. Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast. For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.” -Isaiah 26:19-21
7. Now, If You Believe In Jesus, God Has A Gift For You
“For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD.” – Proverbs 8:35.
The gift is the Gift of Eternal Life. Eternal life, means endless, forever, and always, it is only through Jesus Christ that you can receive the gift of eternal life.
8. How To Receive God’s Gift
“And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the LORD shall be delivered: for in mount Zion and in Jerusalem shall be deliverance, as the LORD hath said, and in the remnant whom the LORD shall call.” – Joel 2:32.
The only way to ask God for anything is by talking to Him by faith, and we do that by prayer, so, you must pray to God yourself. Confessing to a priest, pastor, or praying to Mary or any saint cannot, and will not save you. No one can pray for you to get into heaven, you must call on Jesus yourself and ask Him to save you.
Are You Ready To Receive Eternal Life?
Accept the following statements to be true:
• I believe that Jesus, the Son of God and Messiah, was born of a virgin, and is the only way to eternal life.
• I realize that I am a sinner and cannot get to heaven on my own.
• I realize that Jesus paid the price for my sins when He died a sinless death for me.
• I believe God raised Him from the dead three days later to save me from death and hell.
• I realize that salvation is a free gift from God through Jesus Christ, alone, and nothing else is required.
• And I realize that the only way I can receive Gods gift of eternal life is to ask Him to save me.
If you believed those statements to be true then pray this prayer, believing.
Dear God,
I confess that I am a sinner. I do believe with all of my heart that Your Son, Jesus Christ led a sinless life, and died for me to pay my sin debt, and that He was buried, and arose three days later to save me. I ask You, Jesus to come into my heart and save me. And from this moment on I have complete trust in Him as my Saviour, and will only depend on Hi, for my salvation. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.
Congratulations!
Now, if you just said that prayer and it was truly from your heart then you have received God’s gift of eternal life. That means that will enjoy eternity with Your Saviour, Jesus Christ in the Kingdom of God.
