About Creation

It’s sad to think that this question even needs to be addressed. Unbelieving and rebelling man has been coming up with all sorts of theories to try and alter what creation is. From secular scientists who say that everything started with a big bang to defiant theologians who want to mix evolution with creation, they all play a part in the question of what life really is.

To answer questions about creation, we must get our thinking aligned with the Bible, and from there we will find the answers. If we trust that the Bible is the true, inherent, and infallible Word of God and compare mans theories with God’s then we will find out that God’s Word stands.

God’s Existence

The Bible does does not attempt to explain where God came from, it simply states a fact that God exists. Scripture says that God has no beginning or end, meaning He created space and time, He is not confined to them as we and the universe are. He exists and always has for infinity, but He chose that moment to create what we know today. Who knows, maybe God did create other things in other galaxies and times, but He only wants us to know about what He has done with this life. “He hath made every thing beautiful in his time: also he hath set the world in their heart, so that no man can find out the work that God maketh from the beginning to the end. I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life. And also that every man should eat and drink, and enjoy the good of all his labour, it is the gift of God. I know that, whatsoever God doeth, it shall be for ever: nothing can be put to it, nor any thing taken from it: and God doeth it, that men should fear before him.” – Ecclesiastes 3:11-14.

  • Creation is the act of creating; the act of causing to exist; and especially, the act of bringing this world into existence
  • Creation is life as we know it (people, plants, trees, universe, animals), and all created by God.
  • Creation is taking God at His Word and believing it wholeheartedly.
  • Creation is trusting God for the account of a literal six twenty-four day of creation and that the divine account God chose to reveal to us is in the Book Genesis, and all throughout the Bible.
  • Creation is trusting God with the mysterious unexplained questions that our human minds cannot comprehend.
  • Creation means to walk by faith with biblical foundations and not by sight
  • Creation means to believe, to know that we have a Creator, even without the Word of God.

What Is One Day?

That part of the time of the earth’s revolution on its axis, in which its surface is presented to the sun; the part of the twenty four hours when it is light; or the space of time between the rising and setting of the sun; called the artificial day. Different ages started a day at different times, regardless, it was still a twenty-four hour cycle. The Babylonians began the day at sunrise; the Jews, at sunset; the Egyptians, at midnight, as do several nations in modern times, the British, French, Spanish, America. This day, in reference to civil transactions, is called the civil day. Thus with us the day when a legal instrument is dated, begins and ends at midnight. God recognizes the evening and the morning (evening to evening) as one day. “And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” – Genesis 1:5.

And the evening and the morning were the first day.” In Hebrew, night or evening means “‛ereb” and day or morning means “bôqer” (break of day). God acknowledges the evening and morning as one complete day. Day translated from the Hebrew word “yom” (from one sunset to the next) is a literal period of twenty-four hours. This is the first time that the word “Day” is used in Scripture. It cannot be used figuratively to mean anything other than a normal twenty-four hour day because it is the first time it is used. It can only be used figuratively after establishing its literal meaning. People try to claim that God acknowledges one day as one thousand days, this is incorrect and only spoken as a relative term.

Creation, Day One

God Created Heaven and Earth – In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.” – Genesis 1:1-2. This was the original state of heaven and earth. There was nothing and no one on it at all. You see that key word And, That means God did not stop right there, He continued on with day one.

Secular scientists say that the universe (including the earth and all life on it) was created with a “Big Bang” billions of years ago. They say that the sun came before the earth and that the earth was eventually formed as a hot molten blob. Molten means that the earth was so hot that its surface was melted. If the earth was so hot that its surface was melted, there could not have been any water on it. The Bible also says that God created light before He created the sun, and that the sun wasn’t created until day four, which is totally the opposite of evolutionary theories.

God Also Created Night And Day Light – And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good: and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. And the evening and the morning were the first day.” – Genesis 1:3-5. God did not stop with just making heaven and earth on dayone, He creates light and calls the light day and dark night.

Light here is a form of energy, not spiritual. It was non-existent in a world that was not yet energized. Dark is simply darkness, not spiritual darkness (evil). This is an important point because energy cannot be created in it’s own, it needs a heat source, and God is not the origin of spiritual darkness. “This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all. If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.” – I John 1:5-8.

The world we live in is much too complex to have it all happen by chance, it had to be created by someone. Think about the earth being created covered with water. That’s pretty amazing since the earth is the only planet that has liquid water on it, and we can’t live without water. It’s easy to see that there is a Creator when we look around us. Everything we see tells us about God, and people who ignore God’s creation really have no excuse. “For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.” – Romans 1:20-23.

Creation, Day Two

God Created The Firmament (visible arch of the sky) And God said, Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters. And God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament: and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. And the evening and the morning were the second day.” – Genesis 1:6-8.

Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters,” Believe it or not, the earth, in fact, the whole universe is under water. We do not see that because God only reveals to us what He chooses. Also, there are three levels of heaven, there is the sky, the universe, and the place when His angels and those who died and are saved dwell right now, and where He sits on His throne.

God put some of the water that was on the earth above the atmosphere. This made a layer of water very high above the earth. Many creation scientists believe that the water layer around the earth made a vapor canopy that sheltered or protected it from harmful radiation. The rays from the sun that cause you to get sunburn are an example of harmful radiation. The vapor canopy would have made the earth like a beautiful greenhouse. This may be one reason why the people before the flood lived to be hundreds of years old, and why even animals lived for a very long time. However, the vapor canopy collapsed at the time of the flood, therefore, it caused a genetic breakdown within our own bodies which has effected our health and shortened our lifespan. This may be true, but, God explains why He chose to reduce the lifespan of man because of the wickedness of man. Sin always results in death. “And the LORD said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” – Genesis 6:3.

God also made the atmosphere when He separated the waters. The atmosphere is the open space all around us with air that people and animals breathe. The earth is the only planet with an atmosphere that we can breathe. The most important thing that we need in our atmosphere is oxygen. We can’t see oxygen, it is something that is invisible in the air we breathe, but we can’t live without it. Most other living things on our planet need oxygen, too.

God didn’t put just any amount of oxygen in our atmosphere, He put exactly the right amount. If we had less oxygen in our atmosphere, our bodies would have to work much harder, and we would be gasping for air all the time. There would also be less oxygen in the water, so living things in the water wouldn’t survive. Also, oxygen is what makes things burn. So if there were less oxygen in our atmosphere, things wouldn’t burn. But if we had more oxygen, things would be catching on fire too easily, and our earth would be a dangerous place to live.

To help us have just the right amount of oxygen, God also put nitrogen, another invisible thing, in the atmosphere. Nitrogen doesn’t like to make things burn up like oxygen does, so nitrogen makes the oxygen more stable.

Creation, Day Three

God Created Dry Land – And God said, Let the waters under the heaven be gathered together unto one place, and let the dry land appear: and it was so. And God called the dry land Earth; and the gathering together of the waters called he Seas: and God saw that it was good.” – Genesis 1:9.

and let the dry land appear:” The first thing God did on the third day was to make the land surface rise up out of the water. Some scientists believe that there was only one large landmass, or continent, when God first made the dry land. The present day oceans were not the same as the seas (ocean) before the flood. The borders of the oceans today formed after the waters receded from the flood. The day will come in the new earth when there will be no more seas, but there will still be waters above the heavens. “And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” – Revelation 21:1-4.

The Bible does not tell us how many continents there were when he first Created the earth. It was just one large continent (Pangaea) at one time that separated at the time of the flood. This would have occurred quickly in a period of a few months, not over millions of years as evolutionists claim. Christian’s are often accused of believing that the earth is the center of the Universe, and that everything revolved around it, but it was Aristotle (384–322 BC) who taught this, not the Bible.

God Also Created Grass and Plants – And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day.” – Genesis 1:10-12.

after his kind, whose seed is in itself,” God made grass, plants, and trees, even their seeds of their own kind. That means that none of these things could have come from another source. This is the first time the phrase is used, and it is repeated several more times in the following verses. This means that each group of plants were made uniquely, and that they were not made or evolved from other kinds of plants. Plants can never evolve into other “kinds” of plants. They can only produce variations of their original “kind”. Plants are important to us for many reasons. One thing plants do is make oxygen for us to breathe. Some plants give us food to eat, material to build things, and just for us to look at and enjoy. A plant with a beautiful flower could not have happened just by chance. Neither could a plant that gives us fruit to eat. It had to be designed by a Creator. “Consider the lilies how they grow: they toil not, they spin not; and yet I say unto you, that Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. If then God so clothe the grass, which is to day in the field, and to morrow is cast into the oven; how much more will he clothe you, O ye of little faith?” – Luke 12:27,28.

Do not confuse genetically modified foods and plants with creation (everything that is made by man has been made from something God made). Genetically modified organisms (GMOs) are organisms that have been altered using genetic engineering methods. GMO’s are an animal or plant that has been produced through genetic engineering [1]. Genetic engineering is a term used to describe biotechnological methods used by scientists to directly manipulate an organism’s genome. GMOs do not include plants or animals made by selective breeding, or animals modified by being given hormone supplements or antibiotics. All of these products of genetic engineering were created using the following steps: identifying a trait of interest, isolating that genetic trait, inserting that trait into the genome of a desired organism, and then growing the engineered organism.

Creation, Day Four

God Created The Stars, Sun, Moon, And Planets – And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years: And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so. And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also. And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth, And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the fourth day. ” – Genesis 1:14-19

and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:” When God created the lights in heaven, He didn’t just do it to give light, He did it to mark time also. This means that, Adam would be able to comprehend, not only days but “years”. Think of the ways we measure time: day, month, year, and seven-day week. The first three all come from astronomical observations. One day is measured by the length of time it takes the earth to rotate on its axis. One lunar month is measured by the phases of the moon, which means from the new moon (invisible) to the full moon (round) and back to the new moon. A year is the time it takes the earth to orbit the sun (365 days, 5 hours, 48 minutes, and 45 seconds). Genesis does not say that the sun is not a star, it says it is greater than the moon, which we call a planet, and also that the sun is more significant than the other stars.

The stars have also been used for navigation before compasses were invented. At the time of Jesus’ birth, God sent a special star as a sign to the wise men. That star is what led them to Jesus. “Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.” -Matthew 2:1,2.

Even animals use the stars for navigation. Some young birds, for instance, are able to ‘learn’ the pattern in which constellations of stars rotate and use it to tell which way is north. Constellations are groups of stars that have been given names, like Ursa Major, Ursa Minor, Bootes, and Orion, which were named in the Bible. “Which alone spreadeth out the heavens, and treadeth upon the waves of the sea. Which maketh Arcturus, Orion, and Pleiades, and the chambers of the south. Which doeth great things past finding out; yea, and wonders without number.” – Job 9:9-10.

God also made the sun, moon and stars so that we could see His glory and attributes, but He did not put the stars or the sun in place for us to worship. God never intended for His creation to be used for wicked astrology, but in astronomy. “Stand now with thine enchantments, and with the multitude of thy sorceries, wherein thou hast laboured from thy youth; if so be thou shalt be able to profit, if so be thou mayest prevail. Thou art wearied in the multitude of thy counsels. Let now the astrologers, the stargazers, the monthly prognosticators, stand up, and save thee from these things that shall come upon thee. Behold, they shall be as stubble; the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame: there shall not be a coal to warm at, nor fire to sit before it.” – Isaiah 47:12-14.

Creation, Day Five

God Created The Animals of The Sea And Birds – And God said, Let the waters bring forth abundantly the moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly above the earth in the open firmament of heaven. And God created great whales, and every living creature that moveth, which the waters brought forth abundantly, after their kind, and every winged fowl after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let fowl multiply in the earth. And the evening and the morning were the fifth day.” – Genesis 1:20-23

he moving creature that hath life, and fowl that may fly” God made sea life and the birds. God filled the water and the air with uncountable sea creatures and birds of every size and description. The birds and sea creatures are incredible examples of the greatness of God’s creation. The word “fowl” translated in Hebrew is “Oph”, means, A flying or winged animal. The generic name of certain animals that move through the air by the aid of wings are called fowls. So, fowl were not only birds, but all flying creatures. This would include flying insects and bats. Those who believe in evolution claim that birds evolved from dinosaurs (or that they shared a common ancestor), but Genesis tells us that birds and flying reptiles (pterosaurs) were both created on the same day, and that dinosaurs (and other land animals) were created after birds (Day 6). This is yet another reason why you cannot take Evolution as being accurate.

God commanded the animals to create after “their kind”, this means that birds would only produce other birds. This allows for variation within birds. So, the finches that Darwin saw were not evidence for evolution, only that birds produce a variety of other birds within their kind.

Creation, Day Six:

God Created The Animals of The Land – “And God said, Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind, cattle, and creeping thing, and beast of the earth after his kind: and it was so. And God made the beast of the earth after his kind, and cattle after their kind, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth after his kind: and God saw that it was good.” – Genesis 1:24,25.

Let the earth bring forth the living creature after his kind,” God created all animals that live on land that are both living and now extinct, including dinosaurs. There are nearly thirty places in the Old Testament that mentions “dragons”, these are creatures we would now call dinosaurs. Animals can only produce varieties of their created kinds (new breeds and species). But they can never produce new “kinds” of animals, this in itself shows evolution is not biblical.

God made some really interesting land animals, two of which are really hard for Evolutionists to explain. They are called the Pangolin and the Platypus. Both the pangolin and the platypus are unique among mammals, and all the evidence shows that they were created that way. It looks like they didn’t evolve from anything, but have always been much the same as they are now, examples of the wonderful design and variety of God’s creation.

God Also Created Man – “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so. And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. And the evening and the morning were the sixth day.“Genesis 1:26-31.

let us make man in our image, after our likeness:” God made man in His own image. What great thought that God put in us that He made man in the very Image and likeness of God, clearly Man(mankind) is fearfully and wonderfully made! Only man was created with some of the characteristics of God. Only man can think and plan and be creative. Only man was created with a clear distinction between the animals, not from evolved apes or amoebas, but in the very image and likeness of God himself. God separates man from the animals by giving him authority over them. This also says that at one time even large animals like dinosaurs, elephants and tigers all peacefully lived with man, and obeyed him.

let us” See this keyword here, “US” This does not mean that there is more than one God, this means that God was speaking of Himself in plural form, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost. Man is the only creation of God’s that has a soul, therefore, only man can have the Spirit of God in them. “For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.” – I John 5:7

And God saw every thing that he had made, and, behold, it was very good.” God was pleased with the state of his creation. This implies that God made everything perfect. Satan had not yet been cast from heaven, and Adam had not yet sinned.

The Word is Jesus Christ, “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.” – John 1:1,2,14.

This does not mean that animals do not know their Creator, God only gives man the choice to believe in and know their Creator. “Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?” – Luke 12:24.

The most incredible thing about God is that, while He is our Creator, He never forces us to follow Him, He gives us the choice. That does not mean they will not regret their choice when they do face Him, and it does not mean that God does not love every person He creates, but it does mean He will deny those who deny Him. “Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven. But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.” – Matthew 10:32,33.

Those who question Creation or the literal Word of God have no faith in the Word of God. The reason we stick to the King James Bible is because it is the only current English translation that keeps every word in tact. As Christians, we must learn to treat God’s Word as the only source of absolute truth and authority. True science and evolution (how man and animals adapt to their environment) does not contradict the Bible, it proves it. God gave us His Word that we might understand Him more and have a true relationship with Him. No one needs to have a Bible to know God exists, man believed and followed Him well before He gave us His Word. “But we know that the law is good, if a man use it lawfully; Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine;” – I Timothy 1:8-10.
