Message: The LORD Is My Helper

Hello My Friend,

It comes no surprise the second we choose Christ that we are hit with obstacles that challenge our faith. While Christ promises that He will never leave nor forsake us, He did not promise that the journey here on earth would be a piece of cake. In fact, He warned that we are going to be tried often before we get called home. The most challenging thing in our faith really is not the obstacle itself, rather the fear or contentment to remain where we are instead of confronting it and getting rid of it. Okay, so Christ is our strength to overcome every battle, if we want to be free from them we must come to Him for help, but we must also fight for it also, otherwise, we will find ourselves in more battles. We have nothing to fear if we put our faith and trust in Christ. “Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.” – Hebrews 13:5-6.

You know, the things we inherit have nothing to do with our worth, abilities, or works, but everything to do with who we came from. Since all who are saved and born again become heirs with Christ that means they receive part of His inheritance. However, with that inheritance also comes some challenges that we must face to get them. Now, it was time for Joseph’s tribe to receive their inheritance, they were made up of Joseph’s sons, Ephraim and Manasseh, therefore they received two separate areas.

And the border of the children of Ephraim according to their families was thus: even the border of their inheritance on the east side was Atarothaddar, unto Bethhoron the upper; And the border went out toward the sea to Michmethah on the north side; and the border went about eastward unto Taanathshiloh, and passed by it on the east to Janohah; And it went down from Janohah to Ataroth, and to Naarath, and came to Jericho, and went out at Jordan. The border went out from Tappuah westward unto the river Kanah; and the goings out thereof were at the sea. This is the inheritance of the tribe of the children of Ephraim by their families. And the separate cities for the children of Ephraim were among the inheritance of the children of Manasseh, all the cities with their villages. And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer: but the Canaanites dwell among the Ephraimites unto this day, and serve under tribute.” – Joshua 16:5-10.

And they drave not out the Canaanites that dwelt in Gezer:” Each tribe was given a part of the land, which was divided by how many people were in the tribe, and the command from God was to drive out the Canaanites and take the land for themselves. There was a very good reason why God wanted them to force the people out of the land they inherited, if they remained it would introduce them to sins unheard of by them. However, many of the tribes did not want to fight or out of fear allowed them to live among them, which would cause problems for them later on, it already caused a problem for Manasseh as there were too many people and not enough land.

And the children of Joseph spake unto Joshua, saying, Why hast thou given me but one lot and one portion to inherit, seeing I am a great people, forasmuch as the LORD hath blessed me hitherto? And Joshua answered them, If thou be a great people, then get thee up to the wood country, and cut down for thyself there in the land of the Perizzites and of the giants, if mount Ephraim be too narrow for thee. And the children of Joseph said, The hill is not enough for us: and all the Canaanites that dwell in the land of the valley have chariots of iron, both they who are of Bethshean and her towns, and they who are of the valley of Jezreel. And Joshua spake unto the house of Joseph, even to Ephraim and to Manasseh, saying, Thou art a great people, and hast great power: thou shalt not have one lot only: But the mountain shall be thine; for it is a wood, and thou shalt cut it down: and the outgoings of it shall be thine: for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites, though they have iron chariots, and though they be strong.” – Joshua 17:14-18.

for thou shalt drive out the Canaanites,Christ gives us the strength to face the obstacles, get out of the situations we get into when we trust Him. The biggest obstacle of becoming a Christian is admitting we are sinners, but once we do that it gets easier to deal with the rest of the challenges. Let me tell you, we must drive them out if we want what God has given us, if we trust Him and do what He commands He will give us the strength to not only endure, but get our inheritance. Of course, He wants us to be content with getting into the promised land, but He also wants us to go get what belongs to us while we are waiting. I know both how to be abased, and I know how to abound: every where and in all things I am instructed both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need. I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.” – Philippians 4:12-13.

Lot; The part, division or fate which falls to one by chance. How often does something amazing happen and we are told we just got lucky? While the world thinks that anything good or miraculous happening is by chance, any faithful Christian will tell you that nothing is by chance, that every blessing is under the hand of God. So, why do so many Christians walk around in defeat? Laziness. Much too often they do not see the hand of God because they are content where they are and do not want to go in and take the things given to them. Now, many of the tribes still had not taken possession of their portion of land yet, Joshua gathered everyone together where the tabernacle was being set up and fusses at them for not getting it.

And Joshua said unto the children of Israel, How long are ye slack to go to possess the land, which the LORD God of your fathers hath given you? Give out from among you three men for each tribe: and I will send them, and they shall rise, and go through the land, and describe it according to the inheritance of them; and they shall come again to me. And the men arose, and went away: and Joshua charged them that went to describe the land, saying, Go and walk through the land, and describe it, and come again to me, that I may here cast lots for you before the LORD in Shiloh. And the men went and passed through the land, and described it by cities into seven parts in a book, and came again to Joshua to the host at Shiloh. And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.– Joshua 18:3-4,8-10.

How long are ye slack to go to possess the land,” Are you slacking in receiving your inheritance? It is time to take it. If you believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for your sins and have received Him as your Saviour, then your inheritance is awaiting you. You know, God has so much room in His Kingdom that He has enough for every single person born, the sad thing is that many will not take it. Interestingly, what one has lost, will be given to another if they do not take it.For unto every one that hath shall be given, and he shall have abundance: but from him that hath not shall be taken away even that which he hath. And cast ye the unprofitable servant into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” – Matthew 25:29,30.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And Joshua cast lots for them in Shiloh before the LORD: and there Joshua divided the land unto the children of Israel according to their divisions.” – Joshua 18:10. Shiloh is the name of this city that Jacob prophesied of the Messiah.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You that our inheritance into Your Kingdom is not dependent upon our earthly parents, but by Your Son Jesus, who’s finished work on the cross makes it possible. The second we believe in and receive Him as our Saviour, we are more than just saved, we are born again, sons and daughter of Yours, and joint heirs with Your Son. Thank You for the great sacrifice that You made so that I can become one of Your children, and thank You for an amazing inheritance awaiting me as You prepare Your Kingdom for all of Your children. Jesus, You are my helper through this journey on earth, You are the one who never leaves nor forsakes me and helps me do the work I need to do to get the things I inherited. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me Your power and strength to face the obstacles that keep me from receiving them, let me not be afraid or slack, give me the courage to walk by faith, and remove any disbelief and doubt that I have. In Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
