Message: You Are The Body of Christ

Hello My Friend,

The body is made up of several members, each member is made for a specific purpose and is useful, for example, hands are used primarily to pick things up. If you had no hands, I am sure you would make a way to pick things up, but it would be a little more challenging to you. The body of Christ is made up of several members, or rather people, from all over the world, every race, color, skill, and language make up the body of Christ. What is the body of Christ? It is every saved, born again believer of Jesus Christ. If you have trusted only in the death, burial, and resurrection of our sinless Saviour to save you then you are a member of the body of Christ. Because you are a member, God has a specific purpose for you. You say that you are not a model Christian? You just got saved? You do not even go to church? None of that matters, you are still a member of the body of Christ and He has a purpose for you. “Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues. Are all apostles? are all prophets? are all teachers? are all workers of miracles? Have all the gifts of healing? do all speak with tongues? do all interpret? But covet earnestly the best gifts: and yet shew I unto you a more excellent way.” – I Corinthians 12:27-31.

While II Samuel gives us an overview of what happened shortly after David became king over all of Israel and the Philistines went to war with them, I Chronicles goes into more detail of that time. David, chooses his army, recognizing each and every one of them. Even though he is now a king, he still joined them in the battle, as they wait in the hold, David longed to have some water from the well of Bethlehem, some soldiers risked their lives to get to the well to bring him water only to see him do something they did not expect.

These also are the chief of the mighty men whom David had, who strengthened themselves with him in his kingdom, and with all Israel, to make him king, according to the word of the LORD concerning Israel. And this is the number of the mighty men whom David had; Jashobeam, an Hachmonite, the chief of the captains: he lifted up his spear against three hundred slain by him at one time. And after him was Eleazar the son of Dodo, the Ahohite, who was one of the three mighties. He was with David at Pasdammim, and there the Philistines were gathered together to battle, where was a parcel of ground full of barley; and the people fled from before the Philistines. And they set themselves in the midst of that parcel, and delivered it, and slew the Philistines; and the LORD saved them by a great deliverance. And David was then in the hold, and the Philistines’ garrison was then at Bethlehem. And David longed, and said, Oh that one would give me drink of the water of the well of Bethlehem, that is at the gate! And the three brake through the host of the Philistines, and drew water out of the well of Bethlehem, that was by the gate, and took it, and brought it to David: but David would not drink of it, but poured it out to the LORD, And said, My God forbid it me, that I should do this thing: shall I drink the blood of these men that have put their lives in jeopardy? for with the jeopardy of their lives they brought it. Therefore he would not drink it. These things did these three mightiest.” – I Chronicles 11:10-19.

These things did these three mightiest.” Soldiers risk their lives for their country and their leader, they do not think about who they are as a person or what they have done in the past, they are unbiased and do whatever it takes to protect their nation. Instead of keeping the water for himself, or even sharing it among them, David poured it out to God because he realized something as soon as he saw that those men risked their lives to get that water, life is more valuable than the things we desire. We can have the greatest, most precious things the world has to offer, but they are worthless if it means others risk their lives to get them. God knows what we have need of, sometimes it is best to give up the things we desire and hand them over to God rather than keep them for ourselves. “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” – Mathew 6:31-33.

Something amazing happens when we believe that all things are possible with God, we become blessed. Now, imagine if your whole family has that same belief? An entire nation will be blessed. Not only did one tribe have faith in David, they all did, and volunteered to join in with David. David had people working under him from every tribe, including Reuben, Gad, and Manasseh, who were on the other side of the Jordan.

These were of the sons of Gad, captains of the host: one of the least was over an hundred, and the greatest over a thousand. These are they that went over Jordan in the first month, when it had overflown all his banks; and they put to flight all them of the valleys, both toward the east, and toward the west. And there came of the children of Benjamin and Judah to the hold unto David. And David went out to meet them, and answered and said unto them, If ye be come peaceably unto me to help me, mine heart shall be knit unto you: but if ye be come to betray me to mine enemies, seeing there is no wrong in mine hands, the God of our fathers look thereon, and rebuke it. Then the spirit came upon Amasai, who was chief of the captains, and he said, Thine are we, David, and on thy side, thou son of Jesse: peace, peace be unto thee, and peace be to thine helpers; for thy God helpeth thee. Then David received them, and made them captains of the band. All these men of war, that could keep rank, came with a perfect heart to Hebron, to make David king over all Israel: and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king. And there they were with David three days, eating and drinking: for their brethren had prepared for them. Moreover they that were nigh them, even unto Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on asses, and on camels, and on mules, and on oxen, and meat, meal, cakes of figs, and bunches of raisins, and wine, and oil, and oxen, and sheep abundantly: for there was joy in Israel.” – I Chronicles 12:14-18,38-40.

and all the rest also of Israel were of one heart to make David king.” We cannot do anything for God or anyone without a perfect heart, a perfect heart is completely in the will of God. Let me tell you, when you are in the will of God it may not feel as though you are. David went through a lot persecution and suffering before he became king. We are going to go through a lot of things we do not want to go through being in the will of God, but will all be worth it when we see the final result. Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise? Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times. Remember me, O LORD, with the favour that thou bearest unto thy people: O visit me with thy salvation; That I may see the good of thy chosen, that I may rejoice in the gladness of thy nation, that I may glory with thine inheritance.” – Psalm 106:1-5.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “Therefore he said that he would destroy them, had not Moses his chosen stood before him in the breach, to turn away his wrath, lest he should destroy them.” – Psalm 106:23.

Today’s Prayer: God, As Christians, we know that You have a place and purpose for everyone and everything that goes on in this earth, You will use any means to show the world that You are in charge and in control of all things. Lord, as a member of the Body of Christ, lead us and guide us, give us Your power to stand by our faith and live in obedience to Your commands so that we can be a power and testimony against the devil and all those who try to knock us down. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
