Message: Walking Daily By The Saviour’s Side

Hello My Friend,

[Gospel Hymn, second verse, Are You Washed In The Blood? Are you walking daily by the Savior’s side? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb? Do you rest each moment in the Crucified? Are you washed in the blood of the Lamb?] There is a method to walking daily by the Saviour’s side, it has nothing to do with keeping our salvation and everything to do with fearing God so that we might live an abundant life while we are here. Life is hard enough without Christ, and even though being a Christian can have its own challenges, we must never forget that we are washed in the blood of Christ, [I Corinthians 6:9-11  Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind,  10  Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God.  11  And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.]

So many people get saved, but never really do anything to further their walk with Christ. What happens with that is since they are now saved more affliction comes until they come to Him completely. Since we are saved by grace through our faith in alone Christ we never have to worry about where we will be after our life on earth is done, but while we are here it would be wise to walk with Him daily until He brings us home. Moses reminds the Israelites how God challenged them to prove their faith in Him, and yet they never lacked one thing.

[Deuteronomy 8:1-6  All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers.  2  And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no.  3  And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.  4  Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee, neither did thy foot swell, these forty years.  5  Thou shalt also consider in thine heart, that, as a man chasteneth his son, so the LORD thy God chasteneth thee.  6  Therefore thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to fear him.]

[Thy raiment waxed not old upon thee,] I have clothes that I bought twenty years ago that I still wear, other then the color fading a bit, they are not worn out or ragged, and still fit. I do not credit the company who made them for lasting so long, I credit God. We never lack when we are walking daily by the Saviour’s side, even when we fail Him time and time again, He is faithful and just to forgive us and keep us saved. Why? Well, we are not saved through our righteousness, only by our faith, and the promise that God gives us. Moses reminds the Israelites that it was not because of their righteousness that God is giving them the land He promised.

[Deuteronomy 9:4-6  Speak not thou in thine heart, after that the LORD thy God hath cast them out from before thee, saying, For my righteousness the LORD hath brought me in to possess this land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD doth drive them out from before thee.  5  Not for thy righteousness, or for the uprightness of thine heart, dost thou go to possess their land: but for the wickedness of these nations the LORD thy God doth drive them out from before thee, and that he may perform the word which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.  6  Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.]

[for thou art a stiffnecked people.] [Stiffnecked; Severe, churlish [rude, selfish], cruel, grievous, hardhearted, stubborn, troubled.] Even when we are walking daily by the Saviour’s side, we are guilty of being stiffnecked a time or two, which reminds me of another word, [Willful, To act without reason.]. Do you see all those fools out there destroying landmarks, capital buildings, and burning up cities? They are willful, there is no reason for what they are doing, and talk about being stiffnecked, they have every meaning of the word covered all at once. And let me tell you, it is by his mercies that we are not all consumed. Nevertheless, those who put their faith and trust in Christ are not nor will ever be consumed as it is their faith that saves them. Why? He pleads with His Father not to consume us. He is our intercessor, the middleman who speaks to Him on our behalf. Moses reminds the Israelites that he was the one who begged God not to destroy them after the golden calf incident.

[Deuteronomy 9:13-14,25-28  Furthermore the LORD spake unto me, saying, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:  14  Let me alone, that I may destroy them, and blot out their name from under heaven: and I will make of thee a nation mightier and greater than they.  25  Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.  26  I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.  27  Remember thy servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; look not unto the stubbornness of this people, nor to their wickedness, nor to their sin:  28  Lest the land whence thou broughtest us out say, Because the LORD was not able to bring them into the land which he promised them, and because he hated them, he hath brought them out to slay them in the wilderness.]

[Because the LORD was not able to] God’s reputation is on the line here, since there is nothing too hard or impossible with Him, He follows through with His promise only because Christ is the one reminding Him of that promise. Every time I read this it reminds me of how stiffnecked I can be, and how often Jesus must stand there pleading with my Father not to destroy me because of His promise to never let go of me through my faith. And lately it reminds me of this verse, [Hebrews 6:6  If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.]

As I walk with Christ, one thing I have learned over the year, it is that God has protected me and had a lot of mercy on me when I was wandering around in my own wilderness. We get this idea in our heads that in order for God to do something in our lives we to be a certain way, and while there is some truth to that, it is often not what we think. You life is yours, it is the one God gave you, what He chooses for you is not necessarily what He chooses for someone else. We can accept that, trust Him, and let Him guide us or we can rebel, and in the end have nothing to show for it. Moses tells Israel exactly what God requires from every one who chooses Him.

[Deuteronomy 10:12-17  And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul,  13  To keep the commandments of the LORD, and his statutes, which I command thee this day for thy good?  14  Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the LORD’S thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.  15  Only the LORD had a delight in thy fathers to love them, and he chose their seed after them, even you above all people, as it is this day.  16  Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart, and be no more stiffnecked.  17  For the LORD your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:]

[Circumcise therefore the foreskin of your heart,] Sometimes when you are looking up the meanings of the words to better understand why it is written it in the Bible it helps to go right to the source. The older printed King James Bibles had a dictionary besides the concordance in the back. [Circumcise; To cut short, to curtail or to shorten in any manner. Foreskin; projecting loose.] What this is saying is to cut off that stubbornness from your heart that keeps it from fearing Him. If we apply that to our walk with Christ, it means that we are to remove those doubts, fears, disbelief’s, and stubbornness that keeps us from walking with Him daily. We are a chosen people by God Himself, we are above all people, we are children of the KING. And therefore, we are to fear God with all our heart and soul, [I Peter 2:9-10  But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10  Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [Deuteronomy 9:25-26  Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.  26  I prayed therefore unto the LORD, and said, O Lord GOD, destroy not thy people and thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed through thy greatness, which thou hast brought forth out of Egypt with a mighty hand.]

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, It is not always easy walking daily by Your side, but I know the freedom it brings to be washed in Your blood. Thank You for releasing me from by sin, and for Your mercy and grace that never runs out. It is only by Your grace and love that You removed that dead, loose skin that covered my heart, and gave me a new heart. Lord, I know I can still be stubborn if I veer off my walk with You daily, but thanks to Your amazing grace all I have to do is come to You and You will make it right. Lead me and guide me, keep me fearing You, keep me humble, and keep me walking daily by Your side. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
