Message: God’s Valentine Gift

Hello My Friend,

Happy Valentines Day! If you were to go into the history of Valentines Day, you would be quite shocked to discover that it was actually a day to celebrate lust. Today, most of the world sees this as the day we express our love to the ones we love. Many people are not too happy about this day because either they do not have someone special to love them or it reminds them of someone who has hurt them. Before I dedicated my life to Christ I was in a committed relationship, I thought as long as we were committed we were not living in sin. Sinning through ignorance is something we all do, we just do not know what we are doing it. When he started cheating on me and I did not know what he was doing, he acted differently around me, and I knew something was wrong, then when I found out he never stopped, he literally told me one weekend he was spending time with another woman. Needless to say, we are not together anymore, praise God, but it was not much longer after that when he got into a lot of trouble and spent ten years in prison. Sin never goes unpunished, even through ignorance, but we can find redemption, and that is through the one who loves us so much that He died to save us, Jesus Christ.

For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God; Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:” – Colossians 1:9-10,13-14.

and increasing in the knowledge of God;” Getting saved from our sins is one thing, living in sin is another, and if we are saved and living in sin you can be sure that it is going to be very difficult for us as we are judged even more until we repent of our sin. This is why we need a relationship with Jesus Christ after we are saved, it increases our knowledge of God, and we learn not to do those things, or we ought to. Again, while all sin never goes unpunished, a person who willingly commits sin has to do more to regain God’s favor. When the law of Moses was given there were specific sacrifices required for sinning through ignorance or who willingly sinned.

And if a soul sin, and hear the voice of swearing, and is a witness, whether he hath seen or known of it; if he do not utter it, then he shall bear his iniquity. Or if a soul swear, pronouncing with his lips to do evil, or to do good, whatsoever it be that a man shall pronounce with an oath, and it be hid from him; when he knoweth of it, then he shall be guilty in one of these. And it shall be, when he shall be guilty in one of these things, that he shall confess that he hath sinned in that thing: And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD for his sin which he hath sinned, a female from the flock, a lamb or a kid of the goats, for a sin offering; and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his sin.” – Leviticus 5:1,4-6.

and hear the voice of swearing,Did you know that even thinking about doing something sinful is a sin? Jesus said, and I am paraphrasing, even if a man thinks about cheating on his wife with another woman then he has committed adultery, which is why people do act differently around their mates even before. And let me tell you, those who know about someone else who is sinning, and never say anything are responsible because they could have prevented something worse from happening had they spoken up. “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost, And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come, If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.” – Hebrews 6:4-6.

For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened,We cannot taste the gift of salvation, and remain in sin, it will be much harder on us. Remember, if we are saved, and sin even through ignorance we have displeased God, and we need to confess it or we will suffer until we do. Now, God gives the requirements for the trespass offering, those who sinned through ignorance in the holy things of God.

If a soul commit a trespass, and sin through ignorance, in the holy things of the LORD; then he shall bring for his trespass unto the LORD a ram without blemish out of the flocks, with thy estimation by shekels of silver, after the shekel of the sanctuary, for a trespass offering: And he shall make amends for the harm that he hath done in the holy thing, and shall add the fifth part thereto, and give it unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him with the ram of the trespass offering, and it shall be forgiven him. And if a soul sin, and commit any of these things which are forbidden to be done by the commandments of the LORD; though he wist it not, yet is he guilty, and shall bear his iniquity. And he shall bring a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: and the priest shall make an atonement for him concerning his ignorance wherein he erred and wist it not, and it shall be forgiven him. It is a trespass offering: he hath certainly trespassed against the LORD.” – Leviticus 5:15-19.

with thy estimation by shekels of silver,In addition to the trespass offerings, they had to pay money to make amends with God for defiling the things that are holy. Let me tell you, there is a much larger price to pay for those who remain living in sin for those who are saved than those who are not. Why? We are holy, we have defiled the temple in which Jesus Christ redeemed, and judgment always begins with God’s people first. “For the time is come that judgment must begin at the house of God: and if it first begin at us, what shall the end be of them that obey not the gospel of God? And if the righteous scarcely be saved, where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear? Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator.” – I Peter 4:17-19.

where shall the ungodly and the sinner appear?” Where will the ungodly and sinner who refuses to repent be? In hell. Salvation is by the grace of God through Jesus alone, and that will save our soul from hell, but it will not save us from the consequence of any sin that we chose to live in while we are here. Choosing Christ means that we have to make a commitment, and that also means we need to repent of sin at all cost, when we are committed to Him we are less likely to fall into sin. The priests were required to have a burnt offering burning day and night, and daily, they had to remove the ashes of the burnt offering and take them off of the property all together.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it. And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh, and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar. And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments, and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place. And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings. The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.” – Leviticus 6:8-13.

And he shall put off his garments,They were to never wear their priestly garments outside of the Tabernacle, but that did not mean they were allowed to live as they pleased while they were outside. They had to pour the ashes out onto a clean place in the camp, meaning they were cleansed from their sin, and were not to walk into any place that would defile them. Remember, salvation does not keep us from sin, and while we are to be in the world, we are not to be of the world and defile our body by walking into anything that would even bring the temptation. “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – I Corinthians 6:19-20.

therefore glorify God in your body,” The second Jesus touches us we are holy, we can stand before God because He no longer sees our sin, He sees Christ’s blood. Even those who live for God sin, we are not perfect nor will we be, that means we have to seek forgiveness too or else He will not hear us. God instructs Moses on how the priests were to give their offerings to God and get right with Him even before they could do His work.

In the place where they kill the burnt offering shall they kill the trespass offering: and the blood thereof shall he sprinkle round about upon the altar. And he shall offer of it all the fat thereof; the rump, and the fat that covereth the inwards, And the two kidneys, and the fat that is on them, which is by the flanks, and the caul that is above the liver, with the kidneys, it shall he take away: And the priest shall burn them upon the altar for an offering made by fire unto the LORD: it is a trespass offering. Every male among the priests shall eat thereof: it shall be eaten in the holy place: it is most holy. As the sin offering is, so is the trespass offering: there is one law for them: the priest that maketh atonement therewith shall have it.” – Leviticus 7:2-7.

Every male among the priests shall eat thereof:” This is interesting because Jesus said, “Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.” – John 6:54-56.

The trespass offering was unlike any other offering, and it applied to all, even the holiest of men, it was used to make an atonement, to save a person guilty of sin from the punishment of death. Today, we still need a trespass offering, but thank God Jesus made that offering permanent. Not by our own righteousness can we be saved, but by the righteousness and perfect sacrifice of Christ. By the way, this pertains to women as well as men. God loves us so much that He sent His Son to die for us, this Valentine’s Day, tell someone the greatest love story of all, how Jesus gave His life. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him. For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved by his life. And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.” – Romans 5:8-11. Praise God!

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest: And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing therein.” – Leviticus 6:6-7.

Today’s Prayer: God, You could have very well kept the laws of the Jews in order for us to be reconciled with You and not have to face the punishment of death, but You chose a better, a perfect sacrifice, not only to be reconciled with You, but to be at peace, and one with You, and He is Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for the great sacrifice You made, and for Your mercy and grace, and for Your love to save a sinner like me, I do not deserve Your gift because I know I sin every day, but I know I get to be with You because You see me through the precious blood of Your Son and not my sinful soul. Lord, let me be a witness and give me Your power to live the life You laid out for me in a way that glorifies You and brings others to Your Son. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
