Message: When God Says No

Hello My Friend,

We have all asked God for things and had the flat out answer of no sometimes, some of the things we can understand why God says no, but others not so much. Such as the issue of salvation, God has one rule for salvation, “You must believe in the death, burial, and resurrection of my perfect son, and receive Him as your Saviour if you want to be saved.” and He will not budge from that rule, it does not matter if the person was good or evil, without Christ no one gets saved. Millions of people stand before Christ when they die, thinking that their works have saved them only to find out that they are denied salvation. Why? Jesus never knew them. “Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” – Matthew 7:22-23.

No one likes to be told, “No!”, in fact, the first thing the flesh wants to do is rebel and do it anyway. As you can imagine, the elders of Israel did not take the news very well that they would not be able to enter the promised land, in fact, the rebelled, determined to get in there one way or another. Korah, a Levite, and two other men, Dathan and Abiram, Reubenites, were so angry that they confronted Moses and Aaron.

Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD? And when Moses heard it, he fell upon his face: And he spake unto Korah and unto all his company, saying, Even to morrow the LORD will shew who are his, and who is holy; and will cause him to come near unto him: even him whom he hath chosen will he cause to come near unto him. This do; Take you censers, Korah, and all his company; And put fire therein, and put incense in them before the LORD to morrow: and it shall be that the man whom the LORD doth choose, he shall be holy: ye take too much upon you, ye sons of Levi.” – Numbers 6:1-7.

Ye take too much upon you,” Korah gathered every disgruntled person he could find and tried to overthrow the authority Moses and Aaron, stating that Moses and Aaron were the ones making these rules, and not God. On top of that, they thought that because they were Levites, the ones chosen by God to work in His ministry, they were not under the same law. It doesn’t matter who we are, we all must obey the law or suffer the consequences, and if you are working for God, that makes it even more important that we follow His rules. While Korah and his accomplices fight for the priesthood against Aaron, Moses pleads with God to save the lives of those who were not involved. God complies, but first He commanded the congregation to separate themselves from them for His judgment was placed upon all who sided with Korah.

And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the LORD hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind. If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the LORD hath not sent me. But if the LORD make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground clave asunder that was under them: And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained unto Korah, and all their goods. They, and all that appertained to them, went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. And all Israel that were round about them fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also. And there came out a fire from the LORD, and consumed the two hundred and fifty men that offered incense.” – Numbers 16:28-35.

went down alive into the pit,Korah made the mistake that many others do, he believed that since God chose them as His people that they were automatically saved. Okay, God creates all mankind, that does not mean that they are all His people. Just because someone is religious and says they know who Christ is that does not mean they are saved. Do you think that God had different rules for the Jews and Gentiles? He did not, same rules applied to all. Even before Christ came salvation was required and they needed the LORD for their salvation, God just dealt with them according their time, Jesus was not here in the flesh yet, but He was there, He was the fire that came down from heaven. “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loadeth us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. Selah. He that is our God is the God of salvation; and unto GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.” – Psalm 68:19-20.

After what happen to Korah and all those who sided with them you would have thought that these fools would settle down, they did not. Now, they go after Aaron this time for his having authority in the tabernacle, to prove that He gave him authority to be the high priest, God commands every tribe to bring a rod and set it before the tabernacle, with their names written on it.

Speak unto the children of Israel, and take of every one of them a rod according to the house of their fathers, of all their princes according to the house of their fathers twelve rods: write thou every man’s name upon his rod. And thou shalt write Aaron’s name upon the rod of Levi: for one rod shall be for the head of the house of their fathers. And thou shalt lay them up in the tabernacle of the congregation before the testimony, where I will meet with you. And it shall come to pass, that the man’s rod, whom I shall choose, shall blossom: and I will make to cease from me the murmurings of the children of Israel, whereby they murmur against you. And it came to pass, that on the morrow Moses went into the tabernacle of witness; and, behold, the rod of Aaron for the house of Levi was budded, and brought forth buds, and bloomed blossoms, and yielded almonds. And Moses brought out all the rods from before the LORD unto all the children of Israel: and they looked, and took every man his rod. And the LORD said unto Moses, Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony, to be kept for a token against the rebels; and thou shalt quite take away their murmurings from me, that they die not.” – Numbers 17:2-5,8-10.

Bring Aaron’s rod again before the testimony,” I have this jacket that I bought my ex-boyfriend, I refused to give it back to him because he did not deserve to keep it. Since I live in the south I rarely wear it, but once or twice a year I do and am reminded of all that God has done for me since I dedicated my life to Christ. We all need something we can look back on to remind us that Christ is the one we follow and He truly is our Saviour from more than just hell, He literally saves us from the life we lived when we live under His authority. Following Christ is the single most bravest thing we could do, and when we truly understand what He did for us and what saves us from we learn why God says no to those who do not accept Him. “By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” – I John 5:2-4

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congregation?” – Numbers 16:22. Jesus pleads for us and saves us when we receive Him as our Saviour.

Today’s Prayer: God, At times we can do some foolish and rebellious things when we are angry at the circumstances we are in, but You know who are Yours and we thank You for Your mercy upon all who call upon Your Son to save them. You know our hearts and exactly what we plan to do with the gifts that You give us for Your glory. Lord, give us Your power to use those gifts in whatever You call us to do. Help us to keep looking to You and Your Word as our guide to keep from getting caught in the middle of a battle between You and the rebellious. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
