Chapters: The Book of Micah
Message: Walking With Christ Daily

Hello My Friend,

walking-with-christThe Book of Micah contains seven chapters, the author of the book is Micah and it was written to Israel and all nations. The timeline for these events took place approximately between 758BC and 710BC. The purpose of the book is a call to repentance to avoid judgment. What we are to learn from the book is that God judges all and pardons all who repent and trust in Him for their salvation. “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” – Micah 7:19.

As Christians, we would like to admit that we live by every word of God, but the truth is, we do not. Every single saved, born again Christian struggles with something they are trying to overcome. Now, we are all saved by the grace of God and nothing we do can take away our salvation, but we can still suffer for the sinful things that remain, especially if we are content to keep the sin in our lives. Micah was around during the time Isaiah prophesied, God sent him to warn, not the Jews, but Gentiles of the destruction that was coming to Jerusalem.

Hear, all ye people; hearken, O earth, and all that therein is: and let the Lord GOD be witness against you, the Lord from his holy temple. For, behold, the LORD cometh forth out of his place, and will come down, and tread upon the high places of the earth. And the mountains shall be molten under him, and the valleys shall be cleft, as wax before the fire, and as the waters that are poured down a steep place. For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem?” – Micah 1:2-5.

For the transgression of Jacob is all this,” Think about it, these were not people that had no idea God existed, they were, in fact, people God chose as His. There comes a time when a God nation that continuously rebels against Him will be judged, but it all comes down to each individual, no matter what nation we live in. Anyone can at any time go to God to be freed from the bondage of their sin. And while He loves His people, He will not watch them living in the lusts of their flesh. Therefore, He lets them face their judgment alone until they repent.

Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity. They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.” – Micah 3:9-12.

yet will they lean upon the LORD,” Too many Christians make the assumption that because they are saved they can live as they please with no consequences for their actions. Then when judgment comes they are the first to blame God for not being there. We cannot expect mercies from God if we are going to remain living in sin, fully knowing what we are doing is wrong. Now, if we turn to Him with all of our heart, intent on removing the sin than He will be right there with open arms to help us. God warns, God allows, but God also forgives, and forgives, through Micah we learn of the glorious day that Christ will reign and rebuild His kingdom with His remnant of believers, both Jew and Gentile.

But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among many people, and rebuke strong nations afar off; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up a sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.” – Micah 4:1-3.

and we will walk in his paths:The most effective way to overcome any sin, no matter what it is is walking with Jesus. I am not talking about just getting saved and going to church on Sunday, I am talking about taking Jesus with you everywhere you go. The more you take Him with you the harder it is to let sin come in. We must understand that a life with Christ is not about some religious ritual, it never has been, it is about loving Him and being with Him with all of our heart. Through Micah, God explains this further.

Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” – Micah 6:6-8.

but to do justly, and to love mercy,” When we walk with Christ we think about every step we take, and are more prone to refrain from anything that will be displeasing to God. I get it, walking with Christ can be lonely sometimes, especially when you are trying to live your life through Him and everywhere you turn sin is right there at the door. We must realize that people are our biggest influence, and sometimes it is better to be alone than allow ourselves to be corrupted by those who live in the world.

Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house. Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.” – Micah 7:5-8.

Therefore I will look unto the LORD;” No matter how alone we feel, we are not alone because Christ is always with us when we faithfully walk with Him. There is not one person on earth that we can put our complete and total trust in. Why? Because we carry this wretched flesh and under certain circumstances, especially if we do not have Christ close by, any of us can fall. More people get hurt by loved ones than anyone else, but there is someone above us and that can help us overcome any situation, and that is Christ. If you have gotten caught up in sin be someone you love, give it all over to Jesus, He will help you overcome.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “But thou, Bethlehem Ephratah, though thou be little among the thousands of Judah, yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.” – Micah 5:2.

Today’s Prayer: God, I know I have been in my share of messes in life, but there is not one I did not create on my own. The amazing thing is that You were there to clean it up for me, I know I tried so many times to do things on my own, but time and time again You remind me of how weak I am. Thank You for the strength to come to You and even though I still mess up from time to time, I know You are always there to help me when I come to You. Lord, Keep me faithful to You by taking You wherever I go, help me to keep my eyes on You and not on my heart, trusting that only You can truly bring me to prosperity in all that I do. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
