Message: Preach Christ
Hello My Friend,
To the Christian who walks with Christ daily, there is something comforting in knowing that we are protected by God Himself. Oh, we may face some trials, some of which we bring upon ourselves, but we know that He never leaves nor forsakes us. To the world who ignores God, there is no comfort in Him at all, there is something tormenting in hearing what they are doing is wrong, for deep down they know there is a hell and do not want to be in it any more that we do. “For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” – Hebrews 4:12.
While we are not to dwell on the end times, we must not push them aside either, we cannot live in sin with the sense we are saved and can live any life we choose. I know that the prophecy books seem to repeat the judgment over and over again, but God cannot stress the importance of knowing that Judgment Day is coming, and how we can be saved from it. Through Amos, God continues to warn Israel of the judgment coming to them, He also stresses His anger toward them for ignoring it.
“Woe to them that are at ease in Zion, and trust in the mountain of Samaria, which are named chief of the nations, to whom the house of Israel came! Pass ye unto Calneh, and see; and from thence go ye to Hamath the great: then go down to Gath of the Philistines: be they better than these kingdoms? or their border greater than your border? Ye that put far away the evil day, and cause the seat of violence to come near; That lie upon beds of ivory, and stretch themselves upon their couches, and eat the lambs out of the flock, and the calves out of the midst of the stall; That chant to the sound of the viol, and invent to themselves instruments of musick, like David; That drink wine in bowls, and anoint themselves with the chief ointments: but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.” – Amos 6:1-6.
“but they are not grieved for the affliction of Joseph.” Religion often paints this picture that sin is justified by salvation, and yet there is no concern for the souls of man. It should be fixated on the heart of every Christian to make sure that every person they know knows that Jesus Christ can save them. While I do believe that God gives all who believe in Him the opportunity to know His Son, it is up to us who are saved to tell them. I admit I have had opportunities to tell someone about Christ, even the Holy Spirit nudging me, but something held me back and now that will haunt me for the rest of my life. We must not take the judgments of God lightly, sinful behavior is not acceptable to God, even if we are saved, and souls are at stake, we have to get past the fear of offending someone and preach the Gospel to all, no matter where God leads us. When word got around that Amos was telling of the judgments God placed upon Israel and the king, Amaziah, the priest confronted him.
“Also Amaziah said unto Amos, O thou seer, go, flee thee away into the land of Judah, and there eat bread, and prophesy there: But prophesy not again any more at Bethel: for it is the king’s chapel, and it is the king’s court. Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet’s son; but I was an herdman, and a gatherer of sycomore fruit: And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said unto me, Go, prophesy unto my people Israel. Now therefore hear thou the word of the LORD: Thou sayest, Prophesy not against Israel, and drop not thy word against the house of Isaac. Therefore thus saith the LORD; Thy wife shall be an harlot in the city, and thy sons and thy daughters shall fall by the sword, and thy land shall be divided by line; and thou shalt die in a polluted land: and Israel shall surely go into captivity forth of his land.” – Amos 7:12-17.
“But prophesy not again any more at Bethel:” The world does not want to hear that they are sinners and will die and end up in hell for their sin. They certainly do not want to hear that God is going to judge them for their sin well before Jesus gets here. There will come a time when it will be too late and no one will hear it at all, which is why we cannot stop talking about it now. Count it a great blessing that we are in the midst of a nation that still knows God, there will come a time when people are going to be so desperate that they will seek to hear from Him, but He will not be found. God speaks of this time, a time when people will wander the world in search of His Word, but not be able to find it.
“The LORD hath sworn by the excellency of Jacob, Surely I will never forget any of their works. Shall not the land tremble for this, and every one mourn that dwelleth therein? and it shall rise up wholly as a flood; and it shall be cast out and drowned, as by the flood of Egypt. And it shall come to pass in that day, saith the Lord GOD, that I will cause the sun to go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in the clear day: And I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; and I will bring up sackcloth upon all loins, and baldness upon every head; and I will make it as the mourning of an only son, and the end thereof as a bitter day. Behold, the days come, saith the Lord GOD, that I will send a famine in the land, not a famine of bread, nor a thirst for water, but of hearing the words of the LORD: And they shall wander from sea to sea, and from the north even to the east, they shall run to and fro to seek the word of the LORD, and shall not find it.” – Amos 8:7-12.
“that I will send a famine in the land,” For four hundred years, known as the dark ages, there was no sign of God, no prophets spoke of Him, and the land was desolate of the Word of God, and people did search. This must have been a time similar to Job’s time when there was no Bible at all, and they had to live by faith. Even though we have the Word of God at our disposal it can sometimes seem as though God is not near, and that is where faith comes in at. Let me tell you, that day is coming again, we will not be allowed to have a Bible in our possession, and it will be against the law to preach Jesus, in some countries it already is. However, judgment is coming, and there will be no escape. Through Amos, God warns of this, but also gives some hope.
“Though they dig into hell, thence shall mine hand take them; though they climb up to heaven, thence will I bring them down: And though they hide themselves in the top of Carmel, I will search and take them out thence; and though they be hid from my sight in the bottom of the sea, thence will I command the serpent, and he shall bite them: And though they go into captivity before their enemies, thence will I command the sword, and it shall slay them: and I will set mine eyes upon them for evil, and not for good. Behold, the eyes of the Lord GOD are upon the sinful kingdom, and I will destroy it from off the face of the earth; saving that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob, saith the LORD. For, lo, I will command, and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations, like as corn is sifted in a sieve, yet shall not the least grain fall upon the earth. All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword, which say, The evil shall not overtake nor prevent us.” – Amos 9:2-4,8-10.
“and I will sift the house of Israel among all nations,” Can you imagine the thousands of souls who are in hell right not that actually walked the earth and saw Jesus face to face, even fought with Him? I bet they would be the first to tell us to believe? They Jews have the mentality to think that they do whatever they please, and get away with it because they are God’s chosen. Christians have that same mentality, only they believe their salvation justifies their behavior. A lot of people misread God’s Word when He says that all of Israel will be restored. What God means by this is that the nation of Israel itself will be restored, no matter what race you are born into, the only way we get to be saved from judgment is through Jesus Christ.
“Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God. For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law;” – Romans 2:9-12.
Jesus Christ Magnified: Today, Jesus is revealed through the LORD, God of hosts. When Jesus returns all the world will be judged. “And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left. Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” – Matthew 25:33,41.
Today’s Prayer: God, You made it easy for us to be saved from Judgment Day, believe in the finished work of Your Son alone. Salvation is one thing, living our lives afterward is another, if we are not living by the example of Your Son we are going to have a miserable life here. Lord, lead us and guide us, give us Your power, mercy, and grace to follow Your commands, to live our lives as a reflection of Christ, and to tell all You lay upon our heart about Him before it is too late. Let us not be ashamed, intimidated, or afraid to let His Light shine through us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
