Message: Sin No More

Hello My Friend,

Well, I spent an hour into reading the chapters for today only to discover that I was reading the chapters for tomorrow. I guess God wanted me to spend more time with Him this morning, as I was reading the chapters blessings and curses came to mind. The longer you walk with Christ the more you realize that blessings come in all forms, as do curses. Being saved does not keep God from sending curses if we are not repentant. Many saved Christians get it in their heads that the Law given to Israel does not apply to us today, but that is incorrect. While some of the things written in the Law do not pertain to us, God still has despises sin. Our faith in Christ saves our soul and keeps us from hell, it does not guarantee sunshine and rainbows while we are here in our flesh, especially if we are not repentant of sin, [John 5:6-8,14  When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?  7  The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.  8  Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.  14  Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.]

Through Jeremiah, God continues to warn Judah of the pending judgment. He is giving them one last chance to return to Him completely, and if they did then, He will remove the judgment. He goes on to tell them what He expects of them and something else, He will remove Judah from the throne.

[Jeremiah 22:3-5,10,30  Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.  4  For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.  5  But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation. 10  Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country. 30  Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.]

[Weep ye not for the dead,] Those who are saved and in the grave have nothing to fear, their souls are not only up in heaven with Jesus, their names are written in the lambs book of life. We are not to pray for them because they are in much better shape than we are. We are also not to pray for those who died and are not saved, we cannot lead them to Christ once they die. We can pray for those who are alive right now, and for the families of those who died that they would come to Christ, but the dead are where they are and there is nothing that we can do about it, [1 Thessalonians 4:13-15  But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope.  14  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.  15  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.]

[and ruling any more in Judah.] This would be the last time that any son of Judah will reign in Israel until Christ returns. And if you think that they did not know this back then, think again, God explains this in the very next chapter, [Jeremiah 23:1-5  Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the LORD.  2  Therefore thus saith the LORD God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the LORD.  3  And I will gather the remnant of my flock out of all countries whither I have driven them, and will bring them again to their folds; and they shall be fruitful and increase.  4  And I will set up shepherds over them which shall feed them: and they shall fear no more, nor be dismayed, neither shall they be lacking, saith the LORD.  5  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.]

[that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch,] There is a reason why a Jewish son born into the family of Judah still look for their “Messiah”, they know that He was to come through David’s decent. They are just blind to the truth that the Messiah has already come. And this is also another reason why ignorance saves no one, [John 4:25-26  The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.  26  Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.]

[Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away,] If you wondered why so many saved, born again Christians have left the Church, here is the reason, the shepherds are not caring for Christ’s flock. And because of this many are not only staying home they are being led to false religions led by Satan, who are feeding them. Now, as for the lying prophets, God has something against them too, and He calls them out as well.

[Jeremiah 23:17,22,26-30  They say still unto them that despise me, The LORD hath said, Ye shall have peace; and they say unto every one that walketh after the imagination of his own heart, No evil shall come upon you.  22  But if they had stood in my counsel, and had caused my people to hear my words, then they should have turned them from their evil way, and from the evil of their doings.  26  How long shall this be in the heart of the prophets that prophesy lies? yea, they are prophets of the deceit of their own heart;  27  Which think to cause my people to forget my name by their dreams which they tell every man to his neighbour, as their fathers have forgotten my name for Baal.  28  The prophet that hath a dream, let him tell a dream; and he that hath my word, let him speak my word faithfully. What is the chaff to the wheat? saith the LORD.  29  Is not my word like as a fire? saith the LORD; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?  30  Therefore, behold, I am against the prophets, saith the LORD, that steal my words every one from his neighbour.]

[Ye shall have peace;] Jesus Himself said that He came not to bring peace, but a sword, [Matthew 10:34-35  Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.  35  For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.] Why does Jesus do this? Because not everyone in our immediately family has the same faith. While Jesus would love save all of our loved ones, not all will come to Him, and while we should never stop praying for them to turn their heart to Christ, there will be some who will reject Him. Through an illustration of good and bad figs, God actually explains this.

[Jeremiah 24:5-8,10  Thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel; Like these good figs, so will I acknowledge them that are carried away captive of Judah, whom I have sent out of this place into the land of the Chaldeans for their good.  6  For I will set mine eyes upon them for good, and I will bring them again to this land: and I will build them, and not pull them down; and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.  7  And I will give them an heart to know me, that I am the LORD: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God: for they shall return unto me with their whole heart.  8  And as the evil figs, which cannot be eaten, they are so evil; surely thus saith the LORD, So will I give Zedekiah the king of Judah, and his princes, and the residue of Jerusalem, that remain in this land, and them that dwell in the land of Egypt:  10  And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence, among them, till they be consumed from off the land that I gave unto them and to their fathers.]

[and I will plant them, and not pluck them up.] This is the promise that Christ gives us the second we come to Him as ask Him to save us, [John 10:27-29  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:  28  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  29  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.]

[And I will send the sword, the famine, and the pestilence,] Does any of this seem familiar to you? Saved, born again Christians, it is time for us to get or renew our passports because God is going to take His sheep somewhere to keep them safe from judgment. Well, this is actually what God was going to do with Judah. God sent Jeremiah, not only to the king, He sent him to the priests as well.

[Jeremiah 25:1,3,7,1011  The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;  3  From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the LORD hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened. 7  Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt. 10  Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle. 11  And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.]

[the works of your hands to your own hurt.] We are responsible for our own actions, and while we cannot avoid those natural evils that come with life itself, we can avoid the wicked evils if we stay out of trouble. We do not have to suffer needlessly, but I will tell you this, if we are repentant, and ask Jesus to help us, He will help us get out of any mess, [1 John 1:7-9  But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.  8  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.]

[and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.] God was not just sending judgment upon Israel, there were several others, which He calls out.

[Jeremiah 25:18-21,26,29,32  To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;  19  Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;  20  And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,  21  Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon, 26  And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them. 29  For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts. 32  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.]

[and should ye be utterly unpunished?] This warning is to every single nation upon the earth! While God does judge His house first, the world will get what is coming to them also. God is not only judging them for their rebelling against God, He is also judging them for turning their backs on Israel. No one ends up in hell because God did not want them saved, He would save Satan if he would let go of his pride, but that choice is up to each and every one of us. Sin is what separates us from God and gives us a one way ticket to hell, Christ is the only one who can save us from that, regardless of what time period we came from.

[Isaiah 59:1-2,19-20  Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:  2  But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear. 19  So shall they fear the name of the LORD from the west, and his glory from the rising of the sun. When the enemy shall come in like a flood, the Spirit of the LORD shall lift up a standard against him.  20  And the Redeemer shall come to Zion, and unto them that turn from transgression in Jacob, saith the LORD.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [Jeremiah 23:5-6  Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will raise unto David a righteous Branch, and a King shall reign and prosper, and shall execute judgment and justice in the earth.  6  In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS. Jeremiah 25:32  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for Your Word, my guide to everything that is true and right. I know there is only one way to come to You, and that is through Your Son. And since I know, and have accepted Him as my Saviour I also know You have given me great freedom as I serve You by choice. Lord, I know that I will not know everything You have to tell me all at once, but as I keep studying Your Word, and applying it to my life You will reveal things to me day by day as I let, Your Son work in and through me. I may not get it right all the time, but let me not forget that I serve the only living God and Your Son, THE LORD MY RIGHTEOUSNESS, He and He alone is my strength and guide to the truth and it setting me free. Lead me and guide me, keep my heart pure, tender, and wholly on You. Give me Your mercies and grace to see me through, and let me do all things through Christ, who is my life. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
