Message: Making The Right Judgment

Hello My Friend,

There is this song called, “Why Can’t All Gods Children Get Along?” “Why can’t all Gods children get along? We can’t all be right, we can’t all be wrong, we’re just different singers singing the same ole song. So, why can’t all Gods children get along?” This is a good reminder that there is a lot of diversity within the body of Christ, there in one Gospel that we must follow, but we are all different, and God deals with each one of us accordingly, some things that I am allowed you are not, likewise some thing you are allowed, I am not. We are not to condemn those who live a little differently than we do, if they are doing wrong than God will deal with them, we need to worry about the way God wants us to live and do that rather than convict someone for thinking a little differently. And I am not talking about going against God’s Word, but we all interpret His Word differently, therefore, we need to make good judgment, not judge them for doing something a little different than we do. “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.” – Colossians 2:16-17.

My nephew asked me if it was okay to listen to other music besides Gospel, and I told him that it was okay as long as he made sure it is something God would allow. He agreed but, his step-mother did not agree with what I said and told him not to listen to it unless they were Christian. I did not argue and told my nephew to obey her, he later talked to me about it, and it was actually this story that I brought up to him as to why I responded like I did. Here we are given more insight about the time that David wanted to bring the Ark to Jerusalem, when Uzzah died instantly because he unknowingly touched it as it was about to fall off the cart they made for it. Well, time had passed, David learned the proper way to get the Ark moved, he, the priests, and many others gathered in the streets, dancing and singing praises to God as they followed the Ark into Jerusalem. Micah, Saul’s daughter, who once loved David and was his first wife, now despised David, she sees him from her window and was disgusted by him.

And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. And they brought in the ark of the LORD, and set it in his place, in the midst of the tabernacle that David had pitched for it: and David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the LORD. And as soon as David had made an end of offering burnt offerings and peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD of hosts. And he dealt among all the people, even among the whole multitude of Israel, as well to the women as men, to every one a cake of bread, and a good piece of flesh, and a flagon of wine. So all the people departed every one to his house. Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself! And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.” – II Samuel 6:16-21.

It was before the LORD,” We can be silly, we can sing and dance, we can rejoice with God, we just have to be tactful about it. It is God who tells us the right and wrong way to do things. Do you remember when we read about Israel getting Aaron to make a god for them and came up with the golden calf? They were drinking, dancing naked, and doing other provocative things, to which God was not very pleased with at all. Do you see the difference? David was not dancing naked in the streets, he was wearing an ephod, which is what the priests wore, and singing to God as they were all rejoicing over their most valuable possession being brought into the city. If we are going to judge someone because they behave a little differently, make sure it is something that matters to God, because, believe it or not, God will take our blessings away from us if we are falsely accusing someone. “Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.” – John 7:24.

David was by far a perfect man, but he did have one thing going for him, He had the favor of God. Why? He was faithful to God. No, he did not always consult him, he did get discouraged sometimes, and he did sin as we all do, but he loved God and never hesitated to tell Him that. When David went through all the trouble to get the Ark closer to him, he did not stop there, he wanted to build a house for God. However, God did not want him to build a house for Him, but did want him to know that He had great plans for him and his family.

And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom. He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever. I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men: But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee. And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever. Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto? Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. And what one nation in the earth is like thy people, even like Israel, whom God went to redeem for a people to himself, and to make him a name, and to do for you great things and terrible, for thy land, before thy people, which thou redeemedst to thee from Egypt, from the nations and their gods? For thou hast confirmed to thyself thy people Israel to be a people unto thee for ever: and thou, LORD, art become their God.” – II Samuel 7:12-16,18,22-24.

as I took it from Saul,” The seed of Saul became totally extinct while the seed of David remained until the incarnation of Jesus. Joseph and Mary were both of the family of David, which meant that Jesus was the only heir left to the kingdom of Israel, but He did not sit on the secular throne, he ascended to heaven, is sitting on the spiritual throne, to the right hand of God. Why was God forever merciful in keeping David’s seed established while He was not with Saul? Remember, God looks on the heart, God knew both their hearts, and while David was not sinless, he was faithful to God. As Christians, we are going to mess up over and over again until God brings us home, but He knows our heart. David, filled with awe, wonders why God chose him, then praises Him for being the great God that He is. Arise, O LORD, into thy rest; thou, and the ark of thy strength. Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy. For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed. The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne. If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore. For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation. This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.” – Psalm 132:8-14.

For the LORD hath chosen Zion;” We did not choose God first, He chose us, and since He chose us He is going to do what He pleases with us. If we are faithful and obedient to Him we can expect great blessings, but if we are not we can expect chastening. You see, since we are His chosen, He will not have us behaving like the world does, and He will do whatever it takes to get us to see that His way is the only way. While we will never be perfect until we get to heaven, we can be perfect in Christ by living in a way that pleases Him, not what others think. “Therefore thou art inexcusable, O man, whosoever thou art that judgest: for wherein thou judgest another, thou condemnest thyself; for thou that judgest doest the same things. Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile; But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile: For there is no respect of persons with God.” – Romans 2:1,9-11.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.” – II Samuel 7:12.

Today’s Prayer: God, In any given day we should be able to stop, look at the life we have now and see how far we have come since we came to know Your Son as our Saviour. Thank You for Your grace, You love me unconditionally, no matter how many times I mess up. It is not so easy to see the blessings if we are facing difficulties or have not had a chance to get to know You like we should, but with a little prayer and studying of Your Word it can be done. Lord, my heart is willing, but I often let my issues in life hinder me from following through with what You will have me to do. Lead me and guide me, help me to see beyond my issues, to remember that Your grace is sufficient, and to keep looking onto You, who will see me through and bless me for enduring them all by my faith and trust in You, who will supply all my needs. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
