Message: Ezekiel: A Warning to False Prophets

Hello My Friend,

Every time I start reading the Book of Ezekiel I procrastinate a bit because it is not one of my favorite books, but this year I have a new take on it and realize just how important it is, just as Revelation. I am reminded that God takes His Word seriously and does not take to kindly to those who teach lies and I can really relate to Him on that. As we continue in the reading of Ezekiel we learn just how angry God gets over those who proclaim His Word and name yet they are preaching lies. Jesus, said it this way, [Matthew 15:8-9  This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.  9  But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.]

Even though much of what God had shown Ezekiel had to do with that was going on in their present state, it also had a deeper message, the day when all the earth will be judged. Do you think that things are any different today than they were before Christ came here in the flesh? What about Noah, David, Moses, Abraham, and Adam? I always say that the difference between now and then is technology. Since the fall of man reprobates have been deceiving God’s believers and the unfortunate thing is that they are taking them to hell with them. And let me tell you, God, has had it with false preachers and teachers and through Ezekiel goes on to address them.

[Ezekiel 13:2-7  Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say thou unto them that prophesy out of their own hearts, Hear ye the word of the LORD;  3  Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow their own spirit, and have seen nothing!  4  O Israel, thy prophets are like the foxes in the deserts.  5  Ye have not gone up into the gaps, neither made up the hedge for the house of Israel to stand in the battle in the day of the LORD.  6  They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, The LORD saith: and the LORD hath not sent them: and they have made others to hope that they would confirm the word.  7  Have ye not seen a vain vision, and have ye not spoken a lying divination, whereas ye say, The LORD saith it; albeit I have not spoken?]

False hope and vain vision, that is the message that the leaders of these false religions teach. Now, God can do anything and there is nothing wrong with having hope, but if we are putting our hope into something that is false and vain the only thing we are doing is making things worse on ourselves. So many people get angry at God and walk away from the Church because they were trusting in false hope that someone lied to them about, and it was all done to fatten their pockets. And I get it, it is heartbreaking to see loved ones suffer, we all want a little bit of hope that things will get better, but rather than hold on to false hope it is best to hold on to the hope that only Christ can give, [Romans 8:24-25  For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?  25  But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.]

Since God does not use prophets any more to speak on His behalf, this may seem like it does not apply to us today, but false prophets still exist. They are in the form of preachers and teachers whom have replaced God’s Word with their own versions or books that are said to be their interpretation of what God is saying. Today, God speaks to all of His true believers through His Word, but their ability to hear and discern what He is saying only comes from the Holy Spirit who indwells them. God, goes on to describe the false prophets doctrine as walls built with brick mortar that has not been tempered, meaning fortified and His anger toward them.

[Ezekiel 13:9-10,14-15  And mine hand shall be upon the prophets that see vanity, and that divine lies: they shall not be in the assembly of my people, neither shall they be written in the writing of the house of Israel, neither shall they enter into the land of Israel; and ye shall know that I am the Lord GOD. 10  Because, even because they have seduced my people, saying, Peace; and there was no peace; and one built up a wall, and, lo, others daubed it with untempered morter: 14  So will I break down the wall that ye have daubed with untempered morter, and bring it down to the ground, so that the foundation thereof shall be discovered, and it shall fall, and ye shall be consumed in the midst thereof: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.  15  Thus will I accomplish my wrath upon the wall, and upon them that have daubed it with untempered morter, and will say unto you, The wall is no more, neither they that daubed it;]

I see within this passage something incredible, a foundation for believers that cannot be moved or destroyed no matter if the walls do crumble, [1 Corinthians 3:11-15  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.  12  Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble;  13  Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is.  14  If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.  15  If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.]

I also see something else, the entire house of Israel, both Jew and Gentile believers, uniting as one nation of Israel, [Romans 9:6-8  Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:  7  Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.  8  That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed.]

The worse thing about false religion is that it gives a false sense of security in that while they are free to live as they please, they are oblivious to the fact they are headed straight for hell. We cannot sugar coat hell, it must be preached in order for souls to be saved, this includes women as well. Now, God, goes on to address women.

[Ezekiel 13:18-21  And say, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Woe to the women that sew pillows to all armholes, and make kerchiefs upon the head of every stature to hunt souls! Will ye hunt the souls of my people, and will ye save the souls alive that come unto you?  19  And will ye pollute me among my people for handfuls of barley and for pieces of bread, to slay the souls that should not die, and to save the souls alive that should not live, by your lying to my people that hear your lies?  20  Wherefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, I am against your pillows, wherewith ye there hunt the souls to make them fly, and I will tear them from your arms, and will let the souls go, even the souls that ye hunt to make them fly.  21  Your kerchiefs also will I tear, and deliver my people out of your hand, and they shall be no more in your hand to be hunted; and ye shall know that I am the LORD.]

These women were literally making custom sized pillows to sew into the armholes of clothes and bonnets for the heads of individuals with the illusion that it will catch their souls. Their intention was to save the souls of those who were caught while allowing the ones that were not to be sent to hell. In other words, God, was telling them that they are not Him and only He is the one who decides who’s souls are saved from hell. He goes on to even address those that they deceived into believing that they are going to hell, [Ezekiel 13:22-23  Because with lies ye have made the heart of the righteous sad, whom I have not made sad; and strengthened the hands of the wicked, that he should not return from his wicked way, by promising him life:  23  Therefore ye shall see no more vanity, nor divine divinations: for I will deliver my people out of your hand: and ye shall know that I am the LORD.]

We are made righteous through our faith in Christ, not of our own righteousness, those who were here before Christ’s passion lived by the same faith, they knew they had to call upon the name of the LORD, they just did not know Him in the flesh, []

It is a sad state of a church when it makes you think that even after you accept Christ as your Saviour that you must be saved every time you sin. While repentance from sin is ideal, any church that tells you that you must maintain “good” works to keep your salvation is lying and you need to get away from it. God, addresses this when some of the elders came to Ezekiel with some questions.

[Ezekiel 14:1-5  Then came certain of the elders of Israel unto me, and sat before me.  2  And the word of the LORD came unto me, saying,  3  Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?  4  Therefore speak unto them, and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Every man of the house of Israel that setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to the prophet; I the LORD will answer him that cometh according to the multitude of his idols;  5  That I may take the house of Israel in their own heart, because they are all estranged from me through their idols.]

Do these fools who mess with God’s Word and people’s souls think that they are fooling God? They will be regretting their decision for sure. Salvation without the repentance of sin is only a cover to justify ones idols in their heart that they refuse to let go of. Wealth, fame, hobbies, people, possessions, lifestyles, anger, pride, jealousy, lust, these are just a few of the idols of the heart that keep people from not only wanting to live by the truth, but hear it at all. We cannot have God and the world, period, or there will be consequences. God, continues to address this, pointing out further that we will all be accountable, Jew or stranger (Gentile).

[Ezekiel 14:6-9  Therefore say unto the house of Israel, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Repent, and turn yourselves from your idols; and turn away your faces from all your abominations.  7  For every one of the house of Israel, or of the stranger that sojourneth in Israel, which separateth himself from me, and setteth up his idols in his heart, and putteth the stumblingblock of his iniquity before his face, and cometh to a prophet to enquire of him concerning me; I the LORD will answer him by myself:  8  And I will set my face against that man, and will make him a sign and a proverb, and I will cut him off from the midst of my people; and ye shall know that I am the LORD. 9  And if the prophet be deceived when he hath spoken a thing, I the LORD have deceived that prophet, and I will stretch out my hand upon him, and will destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.]

Oh my goodness, you can almost hear God’s anger and this was not a message just for the Jews, but Gentiles as well. We will all stand before Jesus Himself and give an account for what we have done after we are saved, but these deceivers will be joining the millions of people they sent to hell with their false doctrine. You know there are very few times written in the Bible where we are told not to pray for someone, but we are not to pray for those who teach lies, [2 John 1:9-11  Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son.  10  If there come any unto you, and bring not this doctrine, receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed:  11  For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.]

It is interesting to note that God will allow these fools to keep being deceived by their lies. This is not only addressed to Jews, but Gentiles as well, all who make the choice to accept God in their lives and want Him in it must come to Him through His Son, or there is no escape. And if you need more proof that each person is responsible for their own soul, God, gives it right here.

[Ezekiel 14:13-16  Son of man, when the land sinneth against me by trespassing grievously, then will I stretch out mine hand upon it, and will break the staff of the bread thereof, and will send famine upon it, and will cut off man and beast from it:  14  Though these three men, Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, they should deliver but their own souls by their righteousness, saith the Lord GOD.  15  If I cause noisome beasts to pass through the land, and they spoil it, so that it be desolate, that no man may pass through because of the beasts:  16  Though these three men were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither sons nor daughters; they only shall be delivered, but the land shall be desolate.]

This is another “On my goodness” moment, just think about what God is saying here, while He is angry at the false prophets, we are responsible for our own soul, no one sends us to heaven or hell, that is something that we must choose. And if we reject Christ then we are choosing hell for our soul. I know that sounds harsh and if we do believe in Him, but have been trusting in a religion that teaches as false gospel then God sees it as though we are rejecting Him, [Galatians 1:6-8  I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:  7  Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.  8  But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.]

Was Noah, Daniel, and Job sinless? No. We all come short of the glory of God, [Romans 3:23  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;] What they all had in common was that they followed God with all their heart, by faith, and that was their righteous. Job, did not have a Bible, yet feared God. Noah, did not have a Bible either, yet heard God speak and built an ark. What about Daniel? He would not eat of the king’s meat who was trying to brainwash them, [Daniel 1:8  But Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself with the portion of the king’s meat, nor with the wine which he drank: therefore he requested of the prince of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself.]

God, wants nothing to do with people that not only tell the lies, but believe them too, they have brought people to confusion, and sent multitudes to hell with them because of their lies. Believe it or not, this is why it seems like Covid will never go away, He will keep sending viruses upon man and beast in order to bring true believers to hear the truth. God, goes on to let them know that when the judgment is over a remnant will be saved. Through Ezekiel, God points this out.

[Ezekiel 14:21-23  For thus saith the Lord GOD; How much more when I send my four sore judgments upon Jerusalem, the sword, and the famine, and the noisome beast, and the pestilence, to cut off from it man and beast?  22  Yet, behold, therein shall be left a remnant that shall be brought forth, both sons and daughters: behold, they shall come forth unto you, and ye shall see their way and their doings: and ye shall be comforted concerning the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, even concerning all that I have brought upon it.  23  And they shall comfort you, when ye see their ways and their doings: and ye shall know that I have not done without cause all that I have done in it, saith the Lord GOD.]

Do you think God is going to listen to someone who constantly distorts His Word and uses it for their own profit? Foolish prophets, foolish teachers, foolish preachers, and foolish Christians, none of these have a place in the Kingdom of God. The sad thing, of all the people who believe in these foolish religions only a remnant will hear the truth and accept Christ, [Romans 9:27-28  Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:  28  For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.]

Now, faithful Christians do not follow the Law of Moses today because it is required for our salvation, nor does every commandment written in it apply to us, we do follow what does apply to us out of gratitude and thanks to Jesus for not only saving our soul, but our lives as well. The more you read the Old Testament the more you discover just how much of it is in the New Testament, which proves that we all received the same message. Now as God, continues to address His anger toward the liars, and also the believers of the lairs, we come to another that sounds rather familiar to us as God describes a vine and branch.

[Ezekiel 15:2-6  Son of man, What is the vine tree more than any tree, or than a branch which is among the trees of the forest?  3  Shall wood be taken thereof to do any work? or will men take a pin of it to hang any vessel thereon?  4  Behold, it is cast into the fire for fuel; the fire devoureth both the ends of it, and the midst of it is burned. Is it meet for any work?  5  Behold, when it was whole, it was meet for no work: how much less shall it be meet yet for any work, when the fire hath devoured it, and it is burned? 6  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As the vine tree among the trees of the forest, which I have given to the fire for fuel, so will I give the inhabitants of Jerusalem.]

Jesus said it this way, [John 15:1,5-7  I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. 5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  6  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.  7  If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.].

[Vine; any plant with a growth habit of trailing or climbing; a plant stem; Branch; a natural subdivision of a plant stem;]. I never thought to look up what the meaning these two words meant and as you can see they are nearly one in the same so we are just as Jesus said in the form of branches, one with Him, [John 17:19-21  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.  20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.]

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, I can certainly see why the devil was delaying me today, this is one powerful message that You are showing us. There is no doubt that there are many false prophets out there, preaching this sugar coated message that is only leading them and their followers straight to hell, and You warned us that even we can be deceived by them. Lord, let us not get caught up with anyone who teaches a doctrine other than Yours. Lead us and guide us, give us Your Holy Spirit to know Your truths and how to handle those that try to deceive us. Give us Your power to be a witness, Your strength to stand up for the truth, and let us be bold and willing vessels to teach it to those who so desperately need it. I ask this in Your name, Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
