Message: According To His Purpose

Hello My Friend,

Yesterday I was having a conversation with God while I was at work, I am struggling with something and want to throw in the towel and give up on the situation. God used this conversation to remind me that Jesus never gave up on me. I found myself arguing my case, and losing, I said, “I am not strong enough.”, God said, “I will give you strength.” I said, “I cannot handle this.” God said, “With me you can do all things.”. I said, “I don’t want to do this anymore.” God said, “My grace will keep you going.” I said, “It is a lost cause.” God said, “All things are possible”, I said, “It was never supposed to be like this.” God said, “Be patient, my child, trust me.” You see, we may not always understand God’s ways or even what He is doing with our lives, but He sees beyond what we see, He knows if we are patient and trust Him it will all work out. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” – Romans 8:28.

David was one of the most prosperous and blessed kings of all time, and they all knew he was guided by His God. His success was due to the fact that he sought God in every step of his life, with the exception of Bathsheba, his love for God and his prayer life were the key to his success. I Chronicles chapter18 is a repeat of what we read yesterday in II Samuel chapter 8 about David’s successfully defeating so many nations.

Now after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them, and took Gath and her towns out of the hand of the Philistines. And he smote Moab; and the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts. And David smote Hadarezer king of Zobah unto Hamath, as he went to stablish his dominion by the river Euphrates. And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: David also houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them an hundred chariots. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to help Hadarezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. Then David put garrisons in Syriadamascus; and the Syrians became David’s servants, and brought gifts. Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.” – I Chronicles 18:1-6.

Thus the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.” Let me tell you, God’s ways often bring us into battles that only He can get us through, but if He brought us to it, He will bring us through it. We must realize that this is not a physical war, this is a spiritual war, one in which God and the devil are at odds with each other and we are stuck in the middle. The devil can afflict us and throw all kinds of doubt in our heads, but he cannot touch our soul, that belongs to Jesus, and one day He will return, and then judgment will come once and for all.

Our God shall come, and shall not keep silence: a fire shall devour before him, and it shall be very tempestuous round about him. He shall call to the heavens from above, and to the earth, that he may judge his people. Gather my saints together unto me; those that have made a covenant with me by sacrifice. And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah. Now consider this, ye that forget God, lest I tear you in pieces, and there be none to deliver. Whoso offereth praise glorifieth me: and to him that ordereth his conversation aright will I shew the salvation of God.” – Psalm 50:3-6,22-23.

and to him that ordereth his conversation aright” Once you start walking with Christ and getting in the Word of God you discover some amazing things, things that you once enjoyed doing were not so good for you, how truly merciful and graceful God is, and just how patient He is with us. We cannot always have the perfect will of God, but we can get right with the perfect God, no matter how many times we mess up. “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world; Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ; Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.” – Titus 2:11-14.

My best days are when I get so overwhelmed with things that I begin griping to God, it is then that He reminds me that I have not, because I ask not the right things. If we truly want God’s blessings, and if we truly want to see things progressing, we must seek God first, and ask according to His Word. If the things we seek go against Scripture, we can be sure that it is not God we are having a conversation with, it’s the devil, he wants to get us away from trusting God. God never gives up on us, and it is never too late to see His plan through, God is right there, we just need to humble ourselves before Him and listen. This Psalm reminds us to seek Him first.

A Psalm of David, when he was in the wilderness of Judah. O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary. Because thy lovingkindness is better than life, my lips shall praise thee. Thus will I bless thee while I live: I will lift up my hands in thy name. My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth shall praise thee with joyful lips: When I remember thee upon my bed, and meditate on thee in the night watches.” – Psalm 63:1-6.

Thus will I bless thee while I live:” I use to say this prayer every morning, but I get in spurts where I do not pray as I ought to and find myself barely speaking to God. You know, when we stop talking to God that is when things start to become stagnant for us, we kind of get stuck in a rut, things are going no where, and no matter which way we turn we cannot get out of it. The problems is, we want things to work out on our own terms, we forget that it is God who brought us to these things and only He can bring us through them, so if we try to get through on our own reasoning, we will fail, and it is going to take a lot longer. “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:5-6.

Jesus Christ Magnified: Today, Jesus is revealed as the Judge who will judge His people (Ps 50). Jesus will judge His people according to their works after they are saved. “And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” – Revelation 22:12.

Today’s Prayer: God, I know that You have brought me to a place that I do not quite understand, my heart wants to go one way and You want me to stay put. I have finally realized that You are the only one who can help me through this, and in time You will bless me through it. Thank You for loving me and not giving up on me, and for Your mercy and grace to see me through. You know what is best for me, and I have to accept that Your way is the only way to see it all come to pass. Lord, I do want to live by Your Word and please You, give me Your power, wisdom, and guidance, mercy and grace. Help me resist the temptation to do things my way, to endure my situation by seeking You morning, noon, and night, and lean not on my own understanding. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
