Message: The Rock Of My Refuge

Hello My Friend,

If GodRefuge, a strong hold which protects by its strength. Life can become so unbearable at times that it weakens us to the point that we feel as though God is not with us. While He is alive in us, it can sure feel like we are dead inside as the hope of better things seems to be no where in sight. Can I tell you that Jesus knows what we are going through, He feels our pain, and the aching not only in our heart, but spirit and soul as well. If there is one thing I have learned this year it is that no matter what we physically do to try and change the situation, unless we change our heart and spirit, it never will. The only one who can change our heart and spirit is Jesus, and He is our only refuge.

Unless the LORD had been my help, my soul had almost dwelt in silence. When I said, My foot slippeth; thy mercy, O LORD, held me up. They gather themselves together against the soul of the righteous, and condemn the innocent blood. But the LORD is my defence; and my God is the rock of my refuge.” – Psalm 94:17,18,21,22.

I swear there are some weeks that go by so quickly that you are left wondering what you accomplished even though you worked so hard. With all the tragic events taking place in the world, one cannot help, but think how precious life is and how much of it you wasted by missed opportunities or just being busy. We have, but a short time on earth, it is time we stop worrying about tomorrow and live for today. Moses reminds us of just how much we need to make every day count.

For all our days are passed away in thy wrath: we spend our years as a tale that is told. The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they be fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we fly away. Who knoweth the power of thine anger? even according to thy fear, so is thy wrath. So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Return, O LORD, how long? and let it repent thee concerning thy servants. O satisfy us early with thy mercy; that we may rejoice and be glad all our days. And let the beauty of the LORD our God be upon us: and establish thou the work of our hands upon us; yea, the work of our hands establish thou it.” – Psalm 90:9-14,17.

that we may rejoice and be glad all our days.” One of the reasons why our heart and spirit is not right is that we lose sight of the blessings that are all around us because we let our circumstances consume us. As I was praying this morning I saw the word abate in the dictionary of my Bible software and clicked on it to see the meaning. As I scolded myself for being distracted I discovered that God was the one who sent me to that word. The word abate means to beat down; to pull down; to destroy in any manner, what I was doing was abating myself, and that is the biggest trick the devil uses to keep us from rejoicing in all our days. Guess what? Jesus is our refuge from those horrible things that keep our heart and spirit from rejoicing in His salvation, trust Him and He will see us through.

Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day; Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee. Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked. Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation; There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling. For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him. With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.” – Psalm 91:5-11,15,16.

but it shall not come nigh thee.” Rejoice! Shout it out loud, “I AM A CHILD OF THE KING!” No matter what we are going through, it will not last. Jesus has our back, He is right there with us, His is our Rock, our refuge, our hope in this unpredictable world. Evil may be all around us, but we are safe and sound, tucked under the wings of Jesus. The devil might tear us down, but Jesus will sustain us and build us back up.

For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if any man build upon this foundation gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, stubble; Every man’s work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man’s work of what sort it is. If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward. If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.” – I Corinthians 3:11-15.

but he himself shall be saved;” Again, Rejoice! Shout it out loud, “I AM A CHILD OF THE KING!” Life is too precious to let is all slip away with a broken heart and spirit. Look around you, no matter where you are in life there is something to rejoice about, something God pulled you through. If you knew that your life would come to an end within a few weeks, what would you do? While some may get crazy and do some wicked things, most of us would take the time to love, to enjoy, and to experience things we have missed. Do not wait, rejoice in the fact that you are saved by the fire, and give thanks to God, who really has given us more than we deserve, and saved us from much more than we realize. While we are consumed in the things we lost or do not have, imagine where we would be if we did have them without Christ. I know I would be much worse if I still lived the life I lived before Christ.

A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree: he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that be planted in the house of the LORD shall flourish in the courts of our God. They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flourishing; To shew that the LORD is upright: he is my rock, and there is no unrighteousness in him.” – Psalm 92:15,12-15.

and thy thoughts are very deep.” You know, God has great things in store for you, he rejoices in knowing that you will see Him face to face one day. Stop worrying, let it all go, seek refuge in Jesus, and when you do, He will show you what to do.

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end. Then shall ye call upon me, and ye shall go and pray unto me, and I will hearken unto you. And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” – Jeremiah 29:11-13.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.” – Psalm 91:1. Jesus is our secret place, the one who abides in us and brings us to the Almighty.

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, Thank You for being my Rock, my salvation, my refuge, my strength, my hope, my joy, the reason I can rejoice that no matter what life does to me, I am safe and secure in Your arms. I know that I am not always going to be uplifted and joyful in my heart and spirit, but You are the one who keeps my feet from slipping, You are the one who sustains me, even if everything I own turns to dust. Lord, I want to live every day with gladness, I cannot do that in my own strength, I need You, Your strength, and Your grace to carry me through. When I get depressed and worried about tomorrow, keep me looking to You who has only wonderful thoughts about me. Let me not weigh myself down with self doubt and abatement, but rest in Your finished work that sets me free and gives me hope for an expected end. I love You Lord, and pray in Your name, Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
