Message: Having Joy Through God’s Will

Hello My Friend,

This week has been a very trying week for me, long hours of working, missing church on Wednesday because of that, lots of hard, physical labor, my entire body hurts and it looks like someone beat me from all the bruises on my arms. Through all this, I am actually happy, tired, but happy, and my only excuse for my joy is Christ. I have been listening to my new CD’s, singing praises and being reminded of how much Jesus loves me, even when I cannot get to church because a three and a half hour job turned into eight and missed Sunday night because I was not feeling good. God gives us the skills for the work He calls us to do, whether it is His work or how He sees fit to provide for us, both come with challenges, but rewards as we realize it is all in His will for us. That is why we can praise Him and find joy no matter where His will takes us, and He truly takes care of His own.

Thy kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and thy dominion endureth throughout all generations. The LORD upholdeth all that fall, and raiseth up all those that be bowed down. The eyes of all wait upon thee; and thou givest them their meat in due season. Thou openest thine hand, and satisfiest the desire of every living thing. The LORD is righteous in all his ways, and holy in all his works. The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth. He will fulfil the desire of them that fear him: he also will hear their cry, and will save them. The LORD preserveth all them that love him: but all the wicked will he destroy.” – Psalm 145:13-20.

God’s will, it is so strange sometimes, He really does take us to places that we never imagined, sometimes even making us wonder if it is the devil taking us there instead. When we finally discover that it is the hand of God, the hard part is keeping our spirit up with some of the challenges that come as He prepares us for His work. I know my spirit is not always up, just last week I was feeling hopeless. David knew this challenge, which is why he often found himself praying for God because his spirit failed him. Hear me speedily, O LORD: my spirit faileth: hide not thy face from me, lest I be like unto them that go down into the pit. Cause me to hear thy lovingkindness in the morning; for in thee do I trust: cause me to know the way wherein I should walk; for I lift up my soul unto thee. Deliver me, O LORD, from mine enemies: I flee unto thee to hide me. Teach me to do thy will; for thou art my God: thy spirit is good; lead me into the land of uprightness.” – Psalm 143:7-10.

Teach me to do thy will;” It is God who will teach us to do His will, naturally, since He brought us to it surely He will show us how to do it in a way that not blesses us, but gives Him the glory. As David continues to get the house of God and his kingdom in order before he died, he focuses his attention on the porters and treasurers. Some familiar names are mentioned, including Obededom, who was greatly blessed when he kept the Ark in his home for a period of time, who’s children apparently kept his seed alive.

Moreover the sons of Obededom were, Shemaiah the firstborn, Jehozabad the second, Joah the third, and Sacar the fourth, and Nethaneel the fifth, Ammiel the sixth, Issachar the seventh, Peulthai the eighth: for God blessed him. Also unto Shemaiah his son were sons born, that ruled throughout the house of their father: for they were mighty men of valour. The sons of Shemaiah; Othni, and Rephael, and Obed, Elzabad, whose brethren were strong men, Elihu, and Semachiah. All these of the sons of Obededom: they and their sons and their brethren, able men for strength for the service, were threescore and two of Obededom. And Shebuel the son of Gershom, the son of Moses, was ruler of the treasures. And his brethren by Eliezer; Rehabiah his son, and Jeshaiah his son, and Joram his son, and Zichri his son, and Shelomith his son. Which Shelomith and his brethren were over all the treasures of the dedicated things, which David the king, and the chief fathers, the captains over thousands and hundreds, and the captains of the host, had dedicated. Out of the spoils won in battles did they dedicate to maintain the house of the LORD.” – I Chronicles 26:26-4-8,24-27.

able men for strength for the service,” God never places us in a position where we would not be able to do our work efficiently, effectively, and completely. Men and women alike were appointed positions in the house of the Lord, every position was equally important to maintain worship in the temple as required by God. This same is true today, whether we are sweeping floors, greeting people, teaching His Word, singing, or praising Him, we all have the same purpose, to worship and serve the Almighty God in whatever work He appoints us to do.

A Psalm of David. Blessed be the LORD my strength, which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight: My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me. LORD, what is man, that thou takest knowledge of him! or the son of man, that thou makest account of him! Man is like to vanity: his days are as a shadow that passeth away. Rid me, and deliver me from the hand of strange children, whose mouth speaketh vanity, and their right hand is a right hand of falsehood: That our sons may be as plants grown up in their youth; that our daughters may be as corner stones, polished after the similitude of a palace: That our garners may be full, affording all manner of store: that our sheep may bring forth thousands and ten thousands in our streets: That our oxen may be strong to labour; that there be no breaking in, nor going out; that there be no complaining in our streets. Happy is that people, that is in such a case: yea, happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” – Psalm 144:1-4,11-15.

happy is that people, whose God is the LORD.” As Christians, we can find joy in our work, not complaining or being unruly when difficulties come. We are not always going to have the best of days at work, and yes, we are going to fuss about things and sometimes people, but we are not going to be slanderous or rebellious, we are finding happiness, counting all our blessings. Let me tell you, it is God who teaches us to handle whatever it is that challenges us. Now, David sets in order the military and the storehouses, which were the kings treasures.

And over the king’s treasures was Azmaveth the son of Adiel: and over the storehouses in the fields, in the cities, and in the villages, and in the castles, was Jehonathan the son of Uzziah: And over them that did the work of the field for tillage of the ground was Ezri the son of Chelub: And over the vineyards was Shimei the Ramathite: over the increase of the vineyards for the wine cellars was Zabdi the Shiphmite: And over the olive trees and the sycomore trees that were in the low plains was Baalhanan the Gederite: and over the cellars of oil was Joash: And over the herds that fed in Sharon was Shitrai the Sharonite: and over the herds that were in the valleys was Shaphat the son of Adlai: Over the camels also was Obil the Ishmaelite: and over the asses was Jehdeiah the Meronothite: And over the flocks was Jaziz the Hagerite. All these were the rulers of the substance which was king David’s.” – I Chronicles 27:25-31.

And over the king’s treasures” Everything we have does not really belong to us, it belongs to God, and we are His caretakers of it until He brings us home, if He sees fit to take it away He will do so. Likewise, if He sees fit to increase it He will do so also. It is important to understand that nothing is more valuable to God than His people, He will take care of us, even if we are not always on our best behavior. That is what His mercy and grace is for, none of us get what we really deserve, and those who think they are perfect and good need to realize we are all sinners, we have all done something in our lifetime that constitutes as sin, and the same punishment is given to all of us, which is death and hell. However, there is a one escape and only one escape from this, and it is Jesus. Only Jesus can save us, and only He saves those who come to Him by faith, accepting His perfect sacrifice on the cross as the payment for their sin debt. “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” – Romans 10:9-10. Praise God!

Jesus Christ Magnified: “The LORD is nigh unto all them that call upon him, to all that call upon him in truth.” – Psalm 145:18.

Today’s Prayer: God, I remember a time in my life where I never understood what it meant to be saved, I never even heard that term, all I heard was what I could and could not do or I would end up in hell. It was not until I was brought to a church that followed Your Word completely that I learned the truth and finally understood that none of my works can save me, only Your Son can. Thank You for your patience and willingness to wait for me to learn the truth, I know I am saved solely by my faith and acceptance in what Your Son, Jesus Christ, did for me on the cross and by Him alone. Now, I want to serve You wherever You send me, not because I have to, but because I want to thank You for what You did for me. Teach me Your will for my life, and as You guide me into these challenges give me the wisdom, discernment, and faith I need to follow through. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
