Message: Open Your Mouth

Hello My Friend,

Years ago there was this meme everywhere you went, WWJD; What Would Jesus Do? As you can see, it must have caught on pretty good because we are more corrupt as a nation than ever. Of course, I am being sarcastic because if the world really wanted to know what Jesus would do, it would not be killing babies at birth, legally marrying two men or women, or cosmetically altering people to make them look another gender. And of course, I am going to get a lot of comments about this, but it is the truth, and if we truly care about what Jesus thought then we need to know the whole truth, accept it, and live it. Secular Christianity has made a mockery out of His church, they do not want to offend or be prosecuted so, if they cannot beat them, they join them. I do not know about your Jesus, but my Jesus, while He accepts anyone who calls on Him for salvation, does not condone sin of any kind. Yes, Jesus is forgiving, but He will judge, after all, He is Judge, and He will judge those idle tongues that sit by and say nothing also. “A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things. But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.” – Matthew 12:35-37.

For by thy words thou shalt be justified,” We have a God given right to speak the truth, and we have a God given right to tell them we do not agree with them without being harassed for it. Of course, Jesus wants us to be cordial and tactful, not hateful or judgmental, as we are all sinners, but we can tell people the truth about Jesus without being judgmental. And this is where Jesus comes in, we stop to think how He would speak to them before we say something, and by the way, offenses come, so, if they start lashing out at you, know that it is not you getting to them, it is Jesus because they know what they are doing is wrong. We do Jesus, and ourselves a disservice by keeping silent when we see something that Jesus would not do being acceptable in His church. Remember, there is a time to be silent, and a time to speak up, we must be observant, make sure we know what we are seeing, and how to respond, and the Holy Spirit will tell you when it is time to speak up.

To the chief Musician, even to Jeduthun, A Psalm of David. I said, I will take heed to my ways, that I sin not with my tongue: I will keep my mouth with a bridle, while the wicked is before me. I was dumb with silence, I held my peace, even from good; and my sorrow was stirred. My heart was hot within me, while I was musing the fire burned: then spake I with my tongue, LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah. Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them. And now, Lord, what wait I for? my hope is in thee. Deliver me from all my transgressions: make me not the reproach of the foolish. I was dumb, I opened not my mouth; because thou didst it.” – Psalm 39:1-9.

then spake I with my tongue, LORD,” There are great words that come from our mouths when we stop to think how Jesus would react. The woman brought to Him caught in adultery, He did not deny her, He accepted her, then said, “Sin no more.” (John 8:1-11). Jesus healed the impotent man trying for years to be healed in the pool of Bethesda, He did not deny him, He accepted him, and said, “Sin no more.” (John 5:1-14). While Jesus will never deny salvation to anyone who believes in and received Him, He does not nor ever condones sin of any kind, and they will be judged in their sin. You cannot pick and choose what you believe from God’s Word, and if you question one thing, God will have no respect for you. I heard a radio personality say that they believed the Gospel, but questioned whether or not God really spoke, and the earth appeared. Always, always, always, think about what you say before you speak because once those words are out you cannot take them back. “But the tongue can no man tame; it is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison. Therewith bless we God, even the Father; and therewith curse we men, which are made after the similitude of God. Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing. My brethren, these things ought not so to be.” – James 3:8-10.

Out of the same mouth proceedeth blessing and cursing.Again, this is where we need Jesus, we often speak out of emotion, but once we have time to think about it, and how Jesus would react, then we can speak in a nonjudgmental manner. Also, with words come actions, if we are not living the life that we are speaking to them about, then we are, but hypocrites. We cannot tell them that what they are doing is wrong when we are doing something we know is wrong. However, by living the life that we are speaking we not only bring others to Jesus, we are respected, and everything we do prospers. As we read in II Samuel, David wasted no time getting his kingdom in order, he got his army together, and defeated nation after nation, bringing fear and respect to not only his own nation, but others as well. David took no credit for himself for his success, but gave the glory all to God.

And after this it came to pass, that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines. And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David’s servants, and brought gifts. And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succour Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men. Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass: Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued; And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David’s servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went. And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.” – II Samuel 8:1-2,5-6,10-11,14-15.

And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.Preserved; To keep or save from injury or destruction. As true Christians, we are not always going to avoid challenges in life after we are saved, but that does not mean Jesus will not be there to help us endure them. We have to be careful when God starts blessing us that we do not forget to credit Him for our success, or start becoming so boastful that we get caught up in pride. And this is why David was careful to always make sure to ask God to keep him from getting too proud.

Thy mercy, O LORD, is in the heavens; and thy faithfulness reacheth unto the clouds. Thy righteousness is like the great mountains; thy judgments are a great deep: O LORD, thou preservest man and beast. How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. They shall be abundantly satisfied with the fatness of thy house; and thou shalt make them drink of the river of thy pleasures. For with thee is the fountain of life: in thy light shall we see light. O continue thy lovingkindness unto them that know thee; and thy righteousness to the upright in heart. Let not the foot of pride come against me, and let not the hand of the wicked remove me.” – Psalm 36:5-11.

Let not the foot of pride come against me,Pride is our biggest downfall, it is actually pride that keeps people from saying these four words, “I Am A Sinner.” Let me tell you, Jesus truly is the fountain of life, only with Jesus do we have life. When we put our faith and trust in Jesus Christ as our Saviour, open our mouths by admittin we are a sinner, believe in the Gospel, and confess Him as our Saviour then we have eternal life. Amen! That means that Jesus has made a covenant with you, to love and preserve your soul for eternity, and while we are sinners nonetheless, we are sinners saved by the grace of God, and nothing will ever change that. David never forgot about the covenant he made with Jonathan, Saul’s son. While he could not be there for Jonathan since he died, he asked if there was any one left of his family. He found out that he had a son, Mephibosheth, who had been in hiding out since David was encouraged to banished all who were crippled out of Israel.

Now when Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan, the son of Saul, was come unto David, he fell on his face, and did reverence. And David said, Mephibosheth. And he answered, Behold thy servant! And David said unto him, Fear not: for I will surely shew thee kindness for Jonathan thy father’s sake, and will restore thee all the land of Saul thy father; and thou shalt eat bread at my table continually. And he bowed himself, and said, What is thy servant, that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am? Then the king called to Ziba, Saul’s servant, and said unto him, I have given unto thy master’s son all that pertained to Saul and to all his house. Thou therefore, and thy sons, and thy servants, shall till the land for him, and thou shalt bring in the fruits, that thy master’s son may have food to eat: but Mephibosheth thy master’s son shall eat bread alway at my table. Now Ziba had fifteen sons and twenty servants. Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons.” – II Samuel 9:6-11.

that thou shouldest look upon such a dead dog as I am?David not only gave him Saul’s land, he also made him a part of the royal table for the rest of his life. Mephibosheth thanked David, humbling himself, but comparing himself to a dead dog, meaning he did not feel worthy to accept all that David blessed him with, especially with his handicap. This is a great illustration of how we are accepted by Jesus through our faith in Him alone. All who believe in and receive Him will have a permanent place setting at the table with our only KING. Praise God! “Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellowservant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.” – Revelation 19:7-10.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “Then said Ziba unto the king, According to all that my lord the king hath commanded his servant, so shall thy servant do. As for Mephibosheth, said the king, he shall eat at my table, as one of the king’s sons.” – II Samuel 9:11.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You again for Your gift of salvation by grace through my faith and acceptance of Your Son as my Saviour. I know I am not saved by any works of my own, but by His finished work on the cross. It is humbling to know that no matter what I have done or what I will do, You have looked upon such a dead dog as I and have given me a permanent place setting at Your table. Lord, You have given us all a voice, and just like everything else, there is a time to be silent, and a time to speak, with Your guidance, and direction, and by the power of Christ in us, we can be bold in our speech, and be not only Your voice, but a reflection of Your Son as we become not only hearers of Your Word, but doers as well. Lead us and guide us, while we muse on Your Word, speak to us, and give us the words You want us to speak, let us be confident, unwavering, and humble in all we think, say, and do. And Lord, let not the foot of pride come against me. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
