Message: Get Ready For The Passover

Hello My Brother/Sister/Friend,

I have been having a hard time staying focused these past few days, while I do have an inclining of where God is leading me the execution is a little concerning. I keep telling God that I trust Him and know that He is working everything out, but in the back of my mind I keep telling myself that I need to work everything out. That actually brings tears to my eyes as I am reminded of something that Jesus said.

[Luke 12:32-36  Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.  33  Sell that ye have, and give alms; provide yourselves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.  34  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. 35  Let your loins be girded about, and your lights burning;  36  And ye yourselves like unto men that wait for their lord, when he will return from the wedding; that when he cometh and knocketh, they may open unto him immediately.]

Now, Jesus, is not telling us to literally sell everything we own and give it to the church, but what He is saying is that we need to worry less about the stuff we have and more about the souls that need Him before He comes to get us. God, will provide us with everything we need and then some and while some of us may be blessed to have bank accounts with more money than what we can get each day for our daily bread, most of us do not. We need to be ready for Jesus because when He comes for us there is not one thing that we are taking with us, [Matthew 24:42-44  Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.  43  But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.  44  Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.]

We have been reading about the plagues that God is sending to Egypt in retaliation of what they did not only in enslaving the Israelites, but killing baby boys at birth. The plagues show just how sinful sin is, especially willful sin, fully knowing the judgments of God. As we continue in the reading of Exodus, we learn of an eighth plague that is threatened if Pharaoh did not let the Israelites go.

[Exodus 10:1-4  And the LORD said unto Moses, Go in unto Pharaoh: for I have hardened his heart, and the heart of his servants, that I might shew these my signs before him:  2  And that thou mayest tell in the ears of thy son, and of thy son’s son, what things I have wrought in Egypt, and my signs which I have done among them; that ye may know how that I am the LORD.  3  And Moses and Aaron came in unto Pharaoh, and said unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of the Hebrews, How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me? let my people go, that they may serve me.  4  Else, if thou refuse to let my people go, behold, to morrow will I bring the locusts into thy coast:]

[How long wilt thou refuse to humble thyself before me?] Why do you think that God said this knowing that He had already hardened his heart? God, answered the question, [that I might shew these my signs before him:]. God, was proving a point not only to the Egyptians, but Israelites as well, and these plagues were signs that it is justly expected from the greatest of men to the lowliest of shepherd boys that all need to humble themselves before the great Almighty God. God, will surely humble those who are full of so much pride that they will not humble themselves, [Proverbs 29:23  A man’s pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit.]

You see, God, knew each of their hearts, He just played off of them in order to show the Egyptians and Israelites that there is only one Almighty, living God, the great I AM, Jehovah, and He is always among His believers. Well, Pharaoh and his faithful may have been too stubborn to see that they were destroying their land by refusing to let Israel go worship God, but the rest of Egypt was not, they begged him to let them go. Unfortunately, he again wanted them to go on his terms, this time in leaving their children behind, he even threatens them this time.

[Exodus 10:7-11  And Pharaoh’s servants said unto him, How long shall this man be a snare unto us? let the men go, that they may serve the LORD their God: knowest thou not yet that Egypt is destroyed?  8  And Moses and Aaron were brought again unto Pharaoh: and he said unto them, Go, serve the LORD your God: but who are they that shall go?  9  And Moses said, We will go with our young and with our old, with our sons and with our daughters, with our flocks and with our herds will we go; for we must hold a feast unto the LORD.  10  And he said unto them, Let the LORD be so with you, as I will let you go, and your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you. 11  Not so: go now ye that are men, and serve the LORD; for that ye did desire. And they were driven out from Pharaoh’s presence.]

[your little ones: look to it; for evil is before you.] So, now he is telling them that if they go that he would go after their children and it would be to their own death. Let me tell you, this has Satan’s name written all over it. It is his desire to keep the lost in a state of slavery to the world, and he will do everything that he can to hinder those who do serve God from getting to the children. We must never hinder the children from coning to Jesus, [Matthew 19:13-14  Then were there brought unto him little children, that he should put his hands on them, and pray: and the disciples rebuked them.  14  But Jesus said, Suffer little children, and forbid them not, to come unto me: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.]

Children are the future of Christ’s Church, if they are not being taught the truth, Satan will gladly teach them his evil ways. While it may appear that he gets away with the things that he does, and for a season he may, but the day will come when he too will be judged. Well, Pharaoh, did not listen to Moses and God did send the locusts, and for the first time we hear something from him that we never did before.

[Exodus 10:14-17  And the locusts went up over all the land of Egypt, and rested in all the coasts of Egypt: very grievous were they; before them there were no such locusts as they, neither after them shall be such.  15  For they covered the face of the whole earth, so that the land was darkened; and they did eat every herb of the land, and all the fruit of the trees which the hail had left: and there remained not any green thing in the trees, or in the herbs of the field, through all the land of Egypt.  16  Then Pharaoh called for Moses and Aaron in haste; and he said, I have sinned against the LORD your God, and against you.  17  Now therefore forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God, that he may take away from me this death only.]

[forgive, I pray thee, my sin only this once, and intreat the LORD your God,] If Pharaoh had been sincere and truly humbled himself, then, God, would have done more than remove the locusts, He would have healed the entire land. Our nations are not in the state they are in right now because of the sins of fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, they are in them because God has had it with the way that the world is treating His people. God, may deal with His people and their sin on His terms, but He will always have their back, [Romans 12:19  Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.]

Now, at this point, pretty much everything in Egypt, except for the land of Goshen was destroyed, they had very little cattle left, the crops and trees were gone, and yet, God was still not done. Since God knew the Pharaoh’s heart, He did not even give warning to the next plague, the entire nation, except Goshen, went completely dark.

[Exodus 10:21-25,28  And the LORD said unto Moses, Stretch out thine hand toward heaven, that there may be darkness over the land of Egypt, even darkness which may be felt.  22  And Moses stretched forth his hand toward heaven; and there was a thick darkness in all the land of Egypt three days:  23  They saw not one another, neither rose any from his place for three days: but all the children of Israel had light in their dwellings.  24  And Pharaoh called unto Moses, and said, Go ye, serve the LORD; only let your flocks and your herds be stayed: let your little ones also go with you.  25  And Moses said, Thou must give us also sacrifices and burnt offerings, that we may sacrifice unto the LORD our God. 28  And Pharaoh said unto him, Get thee from me, take heed to thyself, see my face no more; for in that day thou seest my face thou shalt die.]

[even darkness which may be felt.] Can you imagine it being so dark that you can feel the darkness? For three days it was so dark in the land that the people could not even see their hands in front of their face. For three days, after Jesus was hung on the cross and died a sinless death, there was utter darkness upon the earth. For three days, all their hope was gone of ever being free from the curse of death, but then came the morning. On that third day, they indeed saw the Light when they discovered that Jesus was not in the tomb when it was opened, [Matthew 28:5-6  And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.  6  He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.]

There was a reason that God kept Pharaoh’s heart hard for such a long time, for that last plague would not have had such an impact had it been any other way. This time, the plague was going all across Egypt, and even the Israelites had to get prepared if they wanted to escape this one.

[Exodus 11:1,4-7  And the LORD said unto Moses, Yet will I bring one plague more upon Pharaoh, and upon Egypt; afterwards he will let you go hence: when he shall let you go, he shall surely thrust you out hence altogether. 4  And Moses said, Thus saith the LORD, About midnight will I go out into the midst of Egypt:  5  And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.  6  And there shall be a great cry throughout all the land of Egypt, such as there was none like it, nor shall be like it any more.  7  But against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue, against man or beast: that ye may know how that the LORD doth put a difference between the Egyptians and Israel.]

[against any of the children of Israel shall not a dog move his tongue,] It is interesting what God shows us sometimes, while all the Egyptians will wake up screaming as they are seeing death of both man and beast, not one peep will be heard in Goshen, not even the pant of a dog’s tongue. Think about the silence taking place as every Israelite awaits that sound of terror among the Egyptians when they start crying over the death of their firstborn. However, unlike the other plagues that were passed over Goshen, this one would not unless they were prepared for it. God, commands Moses to get the people ready for what would be known as the Passover.

[Exodus 12:1-4  And the LORD spake unto Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying,  2  This month shall be unto you the beginning of months: it shall be the first month of the year to you.  3  Speak ye unto all the congregation of Israel, saying, In the tenth day of this month they shall take to them every man a lamb, according to the house of their fathers, a lamb for an house:  4  And if the household be too little for the lamb, let him and his neighbour next unto his house take it according to the number of the souls; every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.]

[every man according to his eating shall make your count for the lamb.] Jesus, gave His life for all mankind, and has enough room for all, but salvation, is not granted to anyone unless they come to Christ on their own. We can tell them about Him, but unless they walk through that door, or rather we invite Him in, then He will not come in, [Revelation 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.]

Now, in addition to having a lamb in the house to eat they needed the blood from the lamb, [Exodus 12:6-8,10-11  And ye shall keep it up until the fourteenth day of the same month: and the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it in the evening.  7  And they shall take of the blood, and strike it on the two side posts and on the upper door post of the houses, wherein they shall eat it.  8  And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; and with bitter herbs they shall eat it. 10  And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire.  11  And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover.]

[and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the LORD’S passover.] This certainly gives new meaning to what Jesus said, [John 6:54  Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.] They did not technically drink the blood of the lamb, but they did have it applied to their doorposts. Wow! Those are some powerful words when you stop to think about it. The word Passover literally means, an exemption, so, anyone who has the blood of Christ applied to their soul, just like this blood was applied to the doorpost to save the first born, was exempt from death, and this is exactly what God told them.

[Exodus 12:12-14,17  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.  13  And the blood shall be to you for a token upon the houses where ye are: and when I see the blood, I will pass over you, and the plague shall not be upon you to destroy you, when I smite the land of Egypt.  14  And this day shall be unto you for a memorial; and ye shall keep it a feast to the LORD throughout your generations; ye shall keep it a feast by an ordinance for ever. 17  And ye shall observe the feast of unleavened bread; for in this selfsame day have I brought your armies out of the land of Egypt: therefore shall ye observe this day in your generations by an ordinance for ever.]

[and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment:] Each of the plagues that God sent upon the Egyptians had a purpose, the plagues were geared toward three key elements, their gods, their livelihood, and their heart. When you think about it, these are the key elements to our own wellbeing, we need God, we need provisions to live, and we need to know what is inside of our heart. If our heart is motivated by evil, then it will reflect the rest of the elements. And this was the Pharaoh, he thought himself a god, and therefore, his heart was motivated on keeping the Hebrews in bondage because of His hatred for God and now it was payback time. Now, that the plan was put into place, it was time to act on it, Moses, called for the elders and instructed them on what to do. It was time to kill Passover lamb and place the blood along their doorposts.

[Exodus 12:21-23,28  Then Moses called for all the elders of Israel, and said unto them, Draw out and take you a lamb according to your families, and kill the passover.  22  And ye shall take a bunch of hyssop, and dip it in the blood that is in the bason, and strike the lintel and the two side posts with the blood that is in the bason; and none of you shall go out at the door of his house until the morning.  23  For the LORD will pass through to smite the Egyptians; and when he seeth the blood upon the lintel, and on the two side posts, the LORD will pass over the door, and will not suffer the destroyer to come in unto your houses to smite you. 28  And the children of Israel went away, and did as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron, so did they.]

[the LORD will pass over the door,] They had fourteen days to prepare for this, on that day, they would kill the Passover, roast in on the fire in their home. Then the blood of the lamb or goat would be poured into a basin, applied to the outside of the doorpost of each home with hyssop. They shall not waste time and let it sit there, but eat it, and be ready to go as soon as their heard those cries. And that is exactly what happened.

[Exodus 12:29-30,33-34,38,41  And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.  30  And Pharaoh rose up in the night, he, and all his servants, and all the Egyptians; and there was a great cry in Egypt; for there was not a house where there was not one dead. 33  And the Egyptians were urgent upon the people, that they might send them out of the land in haste; for they said, We be all dead men.  34  And the people took their dough before it was leavened, their kneadingtroughs being bound up in their clothes upon their shoulders.  38  And a mixed multitude went up also with them; and flocks, and herds, even very much cattle. 41  And it came to pass at the end of the four hundred and thirty years, even the selfsame day it came to pass, that all the hosts of the LORD went out from the land of Egypt.]

[And a mixed multitude went up also with them;] I would hope that I would be among those who grabbed everything they owned and followed the Israelites. Well, since there was such a mixed number of people, God, thought it fit to set some rules in regards to the Passover that would be observed every year.

[Exodus 12:43-45,48-49,51  And the LORD said unto Moses and Aaron, This is the ordinance of the passover: There shall no stranger eat thereof:  44  But every man’s servant that is bought for money, when thou hast circumcised him, then shall he eat thereof.  45  A foreigner and an hired servant shall not eat thereof. 48  And when a stranger shall sojourn with thee, and will keep the passover to the LORD, let all his males be circumcised, and then let him come near and keep it; and he shall be as one that is born in the land: for no uncircumcised person shall eat thereof.  49  One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth among you. 51  And it came to pass the selfsame day, that the LORD did bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt by their armies.]

[One law shall be to him that is homeborn, and unto the stranger that sojourneth] Death, is no respecter of persons, and certainly not sent to just the first born, it is something that we all must face. Now, we should all be so blessed to have Jesus come for us in our lifetime here on earth, but that may not happen, but we can see the death angel pass over our souls as long as Christ’s blood is attached to them, [1 Peter 1:18-19  Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;  19  But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:]

[the LORD did bring the children of Israel out…by their armies.] This goes back to what God said at the beginning, [Exodus 6:26  These are that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies.] Sooner or later, the world will find out that God is in control, and you do not mess with His people. He will bring judgment upon them one at time, until every single one of them is destroyed, including Satan, [2 Thessalonians 1:7-8  And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels,  8  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ:]

Jesus Christ Revealed/Magnified: [Exodus 12:12  For I will pass through the land of Egypt this night, and will smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Every soul is in Your hands, You know exactly what will come of each of us, and yet You give each of us a choice to believe in You. Thank You, Jesus, for becoming our Passover, for giving Your life and shedding Your blood to save our souls from death and hell. I know that there is not one soul in hell that does not beg for You to reach someone who is alive right now. You are truly the God of the living and we are only made alive through our faith and acceptance of Your sinless death, burial, and resurrection. Lord, Lead us and guide us, let us be a reflection of the Light that is within us so that those who do have one iota of faith in You can come out of the darkness and into Your Light. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
