Message: Perfect And Upright
Hello My Friend,
Did you know that the word perfect means to carry to the end? Well, besides the fact that it also means to be complete or not defective. The word upright means to be up and right, it is actually another word for . God’s perfect and upright are by far perfect in the sense that their flesh is defective without Christ, but with Christ, we are and will always be perfect, [John 17:21,23 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. 23 I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.]
The Book of Job was written before the Book of Genesis, which was written around, 1500 BC. The author is unknown, but is probable that it was Job or Moses. The timeline is about a year. The purpose of the book is to explain the question many people have and that is why God’s faithful suffer? What we are to learn from the book is that there is a spiritual lesson behind all unexplained suffering, [Job 23:10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.] I was thinking about Job when I was reading about Noah’s descendants, Job was of the land of Uz, which means that his father was Uz, who is a descendant of Shem. Arphaxad is also a descendant of Shem, from which Abraham would descend. Job’s testimony is actually before Abraham’s, in fact, it is the oldest book recorded in the Bible, they were distant cousins, who probably did not know each other, but they did have one thing in common, they knew God.
[Job 1:1-5 There was a man in the land of Uz, whose name was Job; and that man was perfect and upright, and one that feared God, and eschewed evil. 2 And there were born unto him seven sons and three daughters. 3 His substance also was seven thousand sheep, and three thousand camels, and five hundred yoke of oxen, and five hundred she asses, and a very great household; so that this man was the greatest of all the men of the east. 4 And his sons went and feasted in their houses, every one his day; and sent and called for their three sisters to eat and to drink with them. 5 And it was so, when the days of their feasting were gone about, that Job sent and sanctified them, and rose up early in the morning, and offered burnt offerings according to the number of them all: for Job said, It may be that my sons have sinned, and cursed God in their hearts. Thus did Job continually.]
[and that man was perfect and upright,] God was not saying that Job never sinned, but he was faithful to Him, and whenever he did sin, even though he did not have to Law to instruct him, he did what he could to make atonement for his sin. It is actually God who is describing Job, and guess who He was talking to? Satan.
[Job 1:6-12 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them. 7 And the LORD said unto Satan, Whence comest thou? Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, From going to and fro in the earth, and from walking up and down in it. 8 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? 9 Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for nought? 10 Hast not thou made an hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. 11 But put forth thine hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. 12 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thine hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.]
[the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD,] This is actually believers, the second our soul leaves our body it is present with the LORD, but it is not apart of the heavens from which believers dwell. We know this because Satan cannot get that far either as he was cast out of heaven. [Hast not thou made an hedge about him,] I was thinking about this, of course, God has a hedge around His people. Satan is jealous of us humans because God always has our best interest, and he even has to get permission from Him to afflict us. In fact, whenever a human repents they get eternal life, an angel cannot be redeemed, when they turn on God they are cast into hell, [II Peter 2:4 For if God spared not the angels that sinned, but cast them down to hell, and delivered them into chains of darkness, to be reserved unto judgment;]
Well, God allowed Satan to afflict Job, but He did not allow him to touch Job. Here is the thing about Satan, you know the saying, “Give them an inch and they take a mile.”? This is what Satan does, he goes completely overboard. All in one day Satan took away Job’s children, servants, crops, and livestock.
[Job 1:13,15–17,20-21 And there was a day when his sons and his daughters were eating and drinking wine in their eldest brother’s house: 15 And the Sabeans fell upon them, and took them away; yea, they have slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 16 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The fire of God is fallen from heaven, and hath burned up the sheep, and the servants, and consumed them; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 17 While he was yet speaking, there came also another, and said, The Chaldeans made out three bands, and fell upon the camels, and have carried them away, yea, and slain the servants with the edge of the sword; and I only am escaped alone to tell thee. 20 Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, 21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.]
[The fire of God is fallen from heaven,] Do you see how Satan made it look like it came from God? While God can definitely bring fire down from heaven, this is actually made to look like God was angry at Job, and that is why He took everything away from him. Satan is like that with all of us, especially those who are perfect and upright, if he can get us to doubt God, get angry at Him for taking something away from us, and stop being faithful to Him, then he has done his job, [Matthew 16:23 But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.]
[but those that be of men.] Do you see, even Jesus is telling us that Satan is jealous and wants what we have. He is so jealous that he cannot stand us, and let me tell you, Satan, the feeling is mutual. Well, Satan’s plan did not work, Job did not curse God, or walk away from Him. That did not stop Satan from trying to get Job to turn on God. This time he targeted his health, and even used his wife against him.
[Job 2:1-10 Again there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them to present himself before the LORD. 3 And the LORD said unto Satan, Hast thou considered my servant Job, that there is none like him in the earth, a perfect and an upright man, one that feareth God, and escheweth evil? and still he holdeth fast his integrity, although thou movedst me against him, to destroy him without cause. 4 And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, yea, all that a man hath will he give for his life. 5 But put forth thine hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. 6 And the LORD said unto Satan, Behold, he is in thine hand; but save his life. 7 So went Satan forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot unto his crown. 8 And he took him a potsherd to scrape himself withal; and he sat down among the ashes. 9 Then said his wife unto him, Dost thou still retain thine integrity? curse God, and die. 10 But he said unto her, Thou speakest as one of the foolish women speaketh. What? shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil? In all this did not Job sin with his lips.]
[although thou movedst me against him,] Move; to stir up, to agitate, To cause to act or determine. Against; Bearing upon, in opposition. You see, God is the giver and taker of life, Satan is the destroyer, God was not saying that He was in opposition to him, He is not opposition to any of us, He just wants us to trust Him with all our heart, whether we have everything or lose everything. [he is in thine hand; but save his life.] Do you know why so many of God’s perfect and upright are suffering with Covid? Satan himself. God will allow Satan to afflict us with disease, and some may even die from it, but He will not allow Satan to take our souls, they belong to Jesus and no one can pluck us out of His hand, .
Satan just knew that if his health was taken from him that Job would curse God, once again, it did not work. His wife, still in mourning over losing their children, has already turned on God, but Job refused to listen to her. Of course, we do not like affliction, but it is affliction that actually teaches keeps us perfect and upright. And you can always tell who your true friends are when you are facing difficulties. And if you think that Satan was done, he was not, if he could not get Job to curse God, he was going to attempt to get his friends to do it. Job just laid there for a week in silence, some of his friends sitting there with him. All of a sudden he speaks out in grief.
[Job 3:2–4,13,23-26 And Job spake, and said, 3 Let the day perish wherein I was born, and the night in which it was said, There is a man child conceived. 4 Let that day be darkness; let not God regard it from above, neither let the light shine upon it. 13 For now should I have lain still and been quiet, I should have slept: then had I been at rest, 23 Why is light given to a man whose way is hid, and whom God hath hedged in? 24 For my sighing cometh before I eat, and my roarings are poured out like the waters. 25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me. 26 I was not in safety, neither had I rest, neither was I quiet; yet trouble came.]
[and that which I was afraid of is come unto me.] Do you see what it is that Satan uses to attack us? Our fears. He knows exactly what our weaknesses, vulnerabilities, and fears are. This is also why so many Christians are actually bound by Satan. You see, he is not after the reprobates, he is not after the ones who get saved, and continue living their lives without Christ, his biggest concern are God’s perfect and upright for they have the power to stop him in his tracks. While we are going to have times in our lives where Satan will catch us off guard, and we will fall for his tricks, but it is Christ who is our strength, and He will pick us up and get us moving once again, [II Corinthians 12:9-10 And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness. Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. 10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.]
Jesus Christ Magnified: [Job 1:21 And said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD.]
Today’s Prayer: God, You surely are the giver and taker of life, everything that we possess, our families, they are merely temporary gifts that You bless all mankind with. Those of us who acknowledge that You are God, who are perfect and upright in our faith in You Son, and know that everything is in Your hands, are blessed with something much more upon our faith in Your Son, we get eternal life for our soul with You. Now, we know that Satan has no power over our soul, and he can only afflict us with Your permission. Lord, Lead us and guide us, keep our hearts fixed on You, fill us with Your power, mercy, and grace to endure every bit of evil that Satan afflicts us with. And let us not question why, rather trust that everything is under Your control, and You will bless us through every sorrow. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
