Study: What Is In A Sign?

Hello My Friend,

As I was reading the chapters for today, I kept thinking of all the church buildings that have the name of Christ or God written upon them along with the ones that proclaim His name, and there are literally thousands of them. How many actually do have God in them? Not one. You see, God, does not dwell in a building, even if it has His name attached to it, He dwells in a person, and a people actually, and these people are those whom have accepted Jesus Christ as their Saviour under the knowledge of the complete Gospel. Not, a portion of what these false churches believe, the entire Gospel of the sinless death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who was born of a virgin, [Isaiah 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.]

Am I saying that if a person believes that Jesus died a sinless death to save them from their sin, but does not believe that He was born of a virgin is not saved? I am not the one saying it, God is, and He has something to say to these false prophets and those who put His name on their buildings, but are lying to the people. Although He is addressing Judah here, and the temple, this applies to all who are still lying to the people today.

[Jeremiah 7:30-32,34  For the children of Judah have done evil in my sight, saith the LORD: they have set their abominations in the house which is called by my name, to pollute it.  31  And they have built the high places of Tophet, which is in the valley of the son of Hinnom, to burn their sons and their daughters in the fire; which I commanded them not, neither came it into my heart.  32  Therefore, behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that it shall no more be called Tophet, nor the valley of the son of Hinnom, but the valley of slaughter: for they shall bury in Tophet, till there be no place.  34  Then will I cause to cease from the cities of Judah, and from the streets of Jerusalem, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride: for the land shall be desolate.]

Tophet, is a drum, and they were used to hide the sounds of the children’s cries that were being sacrificed by the priests of Moloch. Sadly, today, the cries of the children being sacrificed are muffled by the very people who perform the abortions, and not to mention the many who killed by parents and guardians. And I know that this is something that we do not like to hear, but it is a sad truth, and God is no more pleased today than He was when all this was going on in front of His face. As we continue in the reading of Jeremiah, we learn of God’s anger toward Judah, who had the very temple in front of them, but turned it into something that even the world would not recognize as being something from God. They allowed the false prophets to come in and run things and is not pleased. It is not the false prophets He is addressing here, it is the ones who trusted them.

[Jeremiah 7:1-8  The word that came to Jeremiah from the LORD, saying,  2  Stand in the gate of the LORD’S house, and proclaim there this word, and say, Hear the word of the LORD, all ye of Judah, that enter in at these gates to worship the LORD.  3  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, Amend your ways and your doings, and I will cause you to dwell in this place.  4  Trust ye not in lying words, saying, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, The temple of the LORD, are these.  5  For if ye throughly amend your ways and your doings; if ye throughly execute judgment between a man and his neighbour;  6  If ye oppress not the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and shed not innocent blood in this place, neither walk after other gods to your hurt:  7  Then will I cause you to dwell in this place, in the land that I gave to your fathers, for ever and ever.  8  Behold, ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.]

[ye trust in lying words, that cannot profit.] Whenever has ignoring the truth and giving into the lies ever profited us? Nowhere. All that trusting in the lying words does for us is bring more hurt, there are so many people in hell right now because they trusted in the lies. There are so many faithful Christians suffering right now because they trusted in the lies. While none of us want to suffer needlessly, be persecuted, or face confrontation, the truth is, we must tell and live the truth at all times, and we to never be ashamed of our faith. I will tell you this, a true Christian is going to face persecution because of their faith, Jesus said this, [Matthew 10:21-22  And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.  22  And ye shall be hated of all men for my name’s sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.]

And speaking of something else that Jesus said after He had overturned the tables outside the temple, [Luke 19:45-46  And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought;  46  Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.] It rings a bell to what God said through Jeremiah regarding the same temple.

[Jeremiah 7:11-16  Is this house, which is called by my name, become a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, even I have seen it, saith the LORD.  12  But go ye now unto my place which was in Shiloh, where I set my name at the first, and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.  13  And now, because ye have done all these works, saith the LORD, and I spake unto you, rising up early and speaking, but ye heard not; and I called you, but ye answered not;  14  Therefore will I do unto this house, which is called by my name, wherein ye trust, and unto the place which I gave to you and to your fathers, as I have done to Shiloh.  15  And I will cast you out of my sight, as I have cast out all your brethren, even the whole seed of Ephraim.  16  Therefore pray not thou for this people, neither lift up cry nor prayer for them, neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.]

[and see what I did to it for the wickedness of my people Israel.] Shiloh, was the very first place that the tabernacle was set up and established when Joshua led the people into Canaan, who is of the children of Ephraim. During the time of Judges, just before Samuel became a prophet, priest, and judge, God, allowed something that was never allowed, He allowed strangers to take the Ark of the Covenant, [1 Samuel 4:4,10-11  So the people sent to Shiloh, that they might bring from thence the ark of the covenant of the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth between the cherubims: and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God. 10  And the Philistines fought, and Israel was smitten, and they fled every man into his tent: and there was a very great slaughter; for there fell of Israel thirty thousand footmen.  11  And the ark of God was taken; and the two sons of Eli, Hophni and Phinehas, were slain.]

[neither make intercession to me: for I will not hear thee.] You know that God has had enough if He is telling you not to pray for someone. God, allowed all this to prove a point, just because His name is known in a building, place, or thing, that does not mean that they are safe and secure from being rejected by God Himself. God, wanted Judah and Benjamin who were the only two tribes to stay true to God for a while, to understand that if He judged the rest of the tribes because they rejected Him, He will judge them also. And no one can blame God for what is going on, it is all on them.

[Jeremiah 7:19-23  Do they provoke me to anger? saith the LORD: do they not provoke themselves to the confusion of their own faces?  20  Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, mine anger and my fury shall be poured out upon this place, upon man, and upon beast, and upon the trees of the field, and upon the fruit of the ground; and it shall burn, and shall not be quenched.  21  Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Put your burnt offerings unto your sacrifices, and eat flesh.  22  For I spake not unto your fathers, nor commanded them in the day that I brought them out of the land of Egypt, concerning burnt offerings or sacrifices:  23  But this thing commanded I them, saying, Obey my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the ways that I have commanded you, that it may be well unto you.]

[to the confusion of their own faces?] God, is not the author of confusion, He makes everything plain and simple, [James 3:13-17  Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you? let him shew out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.  14  But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth.  15  This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish.  16  For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.  17  But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.]

Let me tell you, the truth does hurt, especially if we are doing something we ought not be doing, this is actually the Holy Spirit trying to get our attention. God actually speaks to us many times before we really listen to Him, but there are some who are oblivious to that fact because they have been trusting the lies over the truth. As God continues explaining why He was judging Judah, and upbraids them for their backsliding.

[Jeremiah 8:4-8,13  Moreover thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD; Shall they fall, and not arise? shall he turn away, and not return?  5  Why then is this people of Jerusalem slidden back by a perpetual backsliding? they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.  6  I hearkened and heard, but they spake not aright: no man repented him of his wickedness, saying, What have I done? every one turned to his course, as the horse rusheth into the battle.  7  Yea, the stork in the heaven knoweth her appointed times; and the turtle and the crane and the swallow observe the time of their coming; but my people know not the judgment of the LORD.  8  How do ye say, We are wise, and the law of the LORD is with us? Lo, certainly in vain made he it; the pen of the scribes is in vain. 13  I will surely consume them, saith the LORD: there shall be no grapes on the vine, nor figs on the fig tree, and the leaf shall fade; and the things that I have given them shall pass away from them.]

[they hold fast deceit, they refuse to return.] Because their sin means more to them than being a living sacrifice they refuse to give their whole heart to God. And notice how God compares animals to man, they just do as they are appointed to do by nature, they do not question God or rebel, in fact, they trust God completely. Jesus said this when the so called Bible scholars wanted a sign to prove that everything He was saying was true, [Matthew 16:2-4  He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.  3  And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?  4  A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.]

[the pen of the scribes is in vain.] We see all these versions of the Bible, but there are really no versions, there is only one Bible, and today, that is found in the King James Bible. Versions are just that, a version of someone’s opinion of what the Bible says. Anytime a new “version” is created, it is eliminating twenty percent of the last version that was written to avoid copyright laws. They will tell you that what they have done is revised God’s Word so that it is easier to understand, but the truth is, what they are attempting to do is eliminate history as a means to justify their sin and actually make a profit for themselves. Do they think that God is a fool and believes that they are serving Him? Oh, but they are the fools. God goes to explain how angry He is at those who speak those lies, and also those who forsake the truth.

[Jeremiah 9:1-3,23-24  Oh that my head were waters, and mine eyes a fountain of tears, that I might weep day and night for the slain of the daughter of my people!  2  Oh that I had in the wilderness a lodging place of wayfaring men; that I might leave my people, and go from them! for they be all adulterers, an assembly of treacherous men.  3  And they bend their tongues like their bow for lies: but they are not valiant for the truth upon the earth; for they proceed from evil to evil, and they know not me, saith the LORD. 23  Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:  24  But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.]

[that he understandeth and knoweth me,] The people during Jeremiah’s day may not have known the name Jesus Christ personally, but they did know the LORD, and right well knew that He was the only way to salvation. In fact, the things Jesus spoke were the exact same things that God spoke through all the prophets, which has to tell us something, they are both one in the same, and God’s message has always been the same from the beginning. He warns time and time again not to trust in our own understanding, but His, [Proverbs 3:5-8  Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.  6  In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.  7  Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.  8  It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.]

Today’s Prayer: God, You make it simple to understand You, and Your ways, and we do not need thousands of books written by man, we just need Your Word and the Holy Spirit. He will direct us to the truth, will even guide us to other men and women who know it. Lord, keep me in Your Word so I can discern Your truths from the lies, and not only that, live through it so I can be a witness and testimony that brings the lost to Your Son, who is the only way, truth, and life. I ask these things in Your name Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
