Message: They Know What They Do
Hello My Friend,
As I was praying this morning, I did something that I rarely do, I asked God to forgive Congress, the Senators, the governors and those who are leading our nation down a wrong path, for they know not what they do. I would like to think that they do not know what they are doing, but in all reality, they do. And those who know to do right live in fear of persecution just go along with it. Let me tell you, the older I get, and the more God opens my mind to His understanding the more I realize that sin knows no boundaries, it will take people down paths that they really do not know what they are doing, and it is all because God means absolutely nothing to them.
[Romans 1:29-32 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers, 30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents, 31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful: 32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.]
[Who knowing the judgment of God,] Judas Iscariot, spent three and a half years with Jesus, witnessing the very same things that all the rest of the disciples did, not once did he believe that He is the Christ. That was until he betrayed Him, as soon as Jesus was captured, Judas realized that he betrayed an innocent man.
[Matthew 27:1-8 When the morning was come, all the chief priests and elders of the people took counsel against Jesus to put him to death: 2 And when they had bound him, they led him away, and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor. 3 Then Judas, which had betrayed him, when he saw that he was condemned, repented himself, and brought again the thirty pieces of silver to the chief priests and elders, 4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood. And they said, What is that to us? see thou to that. 5 And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself. 6 And the chief priests took the silver pieces, and said, It is not lawful for to put them into the treasury, because it is the price of blood. 7 And they took counsel, and bought with them the potter’s field, to bury strangers in. 8 Wherefore that field was called, The field of blood, unto this day.]
[when he saw that he was condemned,] Right then and there, Judas knew that he was condemned. Remember what Jesus said, those who reject Him for who He is are condemned already. There are some Bible scholars that believe Judas got saved right then, but there is nothing written in the Bible that leads to that presumption. In fact, he saw that he was condemned, so I imagine it was those exact words that Jesus spoke that haunted him until he killed himself, [John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.]
[What is that to us?] They did not care that they were about to kill an innocent man, they just despised Christ so much because He actually caused them to feel conviction over their sin. Pride, lust, and covetousness are the main reason why people reject Christ in the first place. Instead of choosing repentance they chose rebellion. Unfortunately, rebellion often drags everyone else into their mess. The Jews, could not kill Jesus themselves as they knew it would bring an uproar that really had nothing to do with it being Passover. They sent Jesus to the governor so that he would convict Him and have Him die the by the worst death, crucifixion. Pilate actually wanted nothing to do with convicting Jesus, but he complied out of fear that they will turn on him.
[Matthew 27:17-20,23-26 Therefore when they were gathered together, Pilate said unto them, Whom will ye that I release unto you? Barabbas, or Jesus which is called Christ? 18 For he knew that for envy they had delivered him. 19 When he was set down on the judgment seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that just man: for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him. 20 But the chief priests and elders persuaded the multitude that they should ask Barabbas, and destroy Jesus. 23 And the governor said, Why, what evil hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. 24 When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this just person: see ye to it. 25 Then answered all the people, and said, His blood be on us, and on our children. 26 Then released he Barabbas unto them: and when he had scourged Jesus, he delivered him to be crucified.]
[For he knew that for envy they had delivered him.] There are three different religions of the world, who’s faith will send them straight to hell. The religious, those who actually believe in the Gospel of Christ, but have never received Him because they trusted the religion over Christ. The agnostic, those who believe in God or a spiritual power, but that they have the power within themselves. And those who proclaim God, yet wholeheartedly despise Jesus, and they will do anything they can to destroy Christ’s testimony. Now, here is Jesus, hanging on the cross as thousands of onlookers watch, some in pain as their Saviour was dying, some just waiting to see if angels or God would show up, and some even sitting there on the ground, watching Him.
[Matthew 27:35-43 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots. 36 And sitting down they watched him there; 37 And set up over his head his accusation written, THIS IS JESUS THE KING OF THE JEWS. 38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left. 39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads, 40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross. 41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said, 42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him. 43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.]
[and we will believe him.] They claim that if Jesus jumped down from the cross, or an angel or prophet would come down from the heavens that they would believe in Him. These fools never believed in any of the miracles He performed in front of their faces, why would they believe if He jumped down off the cross? Now, if the miracles did not convince them that Jesus is the Christ, His death should have.
[Matthew 27:46-54 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? 47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias. 48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink. 49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him. 50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost. 51 And, behold, the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom; and the earth did quake, and the rocks rent; 52 And the graves were opened; and many bodies of the saints which slept arose, 53 And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared unto many. 54 Now when the centurion, and they that were with him, watching Jesus, saw the earthquake, and those things that were done, they feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.]
[the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom;] The veil that separated the holy place from the most holy place, this was the place God dwelt at one time, ripped in two from the top down, this signified that there would no longer be a veil between God and man, Jesus would be the intercessor.
[and many bodies of the saints which slept arose,] Can you imagine such a sight? These are those who died in their faith prior to Christ’s passion, who were actually in paradise, resurrecting and I imagine walked the earth as Jesus did after His resurrection until He ascended back into heaven.
[Truly this was the Son of God.] These soldiers sure believed, and were saved, but the Jews even though they realized Jesus is more than a man, still refused to repent. In fact, they knew what they did was wrong, [Matthew 27:62-64 Now the next day, that followed the day of the preparation, the chief priests and Pharisees came together unto Pilate, 63 Saying, Sir, we remember that that deceiver said, while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. 64 Command therefore that the sepulchre be made sure until the third day, lest his disciples come by night, and steal him away, and say unto the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last error shall be worse than the first.]
[so the last error shall be worse than the first.] The deceiver, were they serious? Of course, they were. These were the chief priests and Pharisees, the ones who prided themselves for crucifying Jesus, and they knew they were wrong, they were just too proud to admit that everything Jesus said was true, and even after He arose three days later. In fact, when they found out that Jesus was not in the tomb, they paid the soldiers to say that the disciples took His body.
[Matthew 28:1-6,11-15 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. 2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. 3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: 4 And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men. 5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified. 6 He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. 11 Now when they were going, behold, some of the watch came into the city, and shewed unto the chief priests all the things that were done. 12 And when they were assembled with the elders, and had taken counsel, they gave large money unto the soldiers, 13 Saying, Say ye, His disciples came by night, and stole him away while we slept. 14 And if this come to the governor’s ears, we will persuade him, and secure you. 15 So they took the money, and did as they were taught: and this saying is commonly reported among the Jews until this day.]
[and did as they were taught:] The wicked will do anything to discredit Jesus still today, and there is always someone willing to be paid off in order to keep their secrets hid. Remember, those who sin in secret will be exposed in the worse way, [Luke 8:17-18 For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad. 18 Take heed therefore how ye hear: for whosoever hath, to him shall be given; and whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken even that which he seemeth to have.]
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, To the world, everything I believe in and stand for about You is a joke, I am so glad that I am not a part of them. I understand that I am not saved by my works of righteousness, but by my believing and accepting that Your work on the cross is all I need to save me. I am trusting only in You Jesus to keep me out of hell and know that no matter what I have done or will do I am forgiven and You will never leave nor forsake me. To show my appreciation, I have dedicated my life to You. Lord, Lead me and guide me, help me to be a witness and a testimony to the amazing life that I now live with You, and let me be bold to speak the truth when others want to tear me down for my faith. Let me never be ashamed to speak Your name, in fact, speak it louder when they attempt to quite me. I love You, Lord and pray this in Your name Jesus. Amen.
