Message: The Deep Things of God

Hello My Friend,

Some of the people I am training with are driving me crazy, every time they talk my ears cringe because they are so vulgar. And they do not care if the instructor is right there, they will speak what is on their mind without even thinking about it. Thank God, that none of them have taken God’s name in vain, but think about it, how well perceive words and use them all comes down to what is in our heart to begin with. God designed the Bible so that every time we read Scripture we get a new understanding of it, and keep learning, and this is how we grow in our faith and stay faithful. We can all read the same verse in the Bible, but how we comprehend it comes down to what is in our heart, [But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. – 1 Corinthians 2:9-10]

To be honest, God is never going to give us understanding of some things because He wants us to live by faith, and we are never going to understand everything written, but what we are to never do is use an obscure passage or verse to change the whole narrative of the Bible. In order to truly comprehend God’s Word we need the Holy Spirit, otherwise, all we would perceive God to be no different than what the world perceives Him as, [For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent. Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? hath not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. – 1 Corinthians 1:18-21]

When God allowed Satan to afflict Job without cause, it was the perfect ammunition he needed to use his friends to question his faith. Job maintained his innocence, yet no matter what he said, his friends were convinced that he was guilty and that God was giving him what he deserved for claiming that he was more righteous than God. Yesterday, we learned about Elihu, who was sitting among Job and the other three men trying to convince him that this wicked sin is what God is judging him with, and as we continue in the reading of Job, Elihu continues to speak. Watch how Elihu tries to justify his own reasoning by twisting every word that Job had said.

[Elihu spake moreover, and said, Thinkest thou this to be right, that thou saidst, My righteousness is more than God’s? For thou saidst, What advantage will it be unto thee? and, What profit shall I have, if I be cleansed from my sin? I will answer thee, and thy companions with thee. Look unto the heavens, and see; and behold the clouds which are higher than thou. If thou sinnest, what doest thou against him? or if thy transgressions be multiplied, what doest thou unto him? Although thou sayest thou shalt not see him, yet judgment is before him; therefore trust thou in him. But now, because it is not so, he hath visited in his anger; yet he knoweth it not in great extremity: Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain; he multiplieth words without knowledge. – Job 35:1-6,14-16]

[Therefore doth Job open his mouth in vain;] If he bothered to pay attention to what he said, then he would have known that there was not one vain word that came out of Job’s mouth. There is not one of us that has not spoken out of context or ignorance to God’s Word a time or two, but it is the Holy Spirit teaches us that knowledge. And we do not need His Word to know that the things that we do not understand are God’s way of using them to show Him through them. In fact, all infirmities are used so that God might be seen through them, but then again, only true believers will understand that, [And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind? Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him. – John 9:2-3]

It really aggravates me to no end when people take my words out of context, or draw their own conclusion of things before they really know what is going on. Again, Satan loves to twist words, especially God’s words, but Job did not say any of those words as Elihu perceived them. Elihu was so focused on proving to Job that he was guilty, and to his friends that they failed at convincing him that he was guilty, that he failed to realize that he was the one speaking in vain. Elihu even admits that all that he everything he had just said was his own opinion, and not even what God would say. Then he proceeds to stick his foot in his mouth a little deeper as he says he is now going to speak on God’s behalf.

[Suffer me a little, and I will shew thee that I have yet to speak on God’s behalf. I will fetch my knowledge from afar, and will ascribe righteousness to my Maker. For truly my words shall not be false: he that is perfect in knowledge is with thee. Behold, God is mighty, and despiseth not any: he is mighty in strength and wisdom. He preserveth not the life of the wicked: but giveth right to the poor. He withdraweth not his eyes from the righteous: but with kings are they on the throne; yea, he doth establish them for ever, and they are exalted. And if they be bound in fetters, and be holden in cords of affliction; – Job 36:2-8]

[I have yet to speak on God’s behalf.] Let me tell you, what gets God’s blood boiling more than anything, is saying that He is the one who allows or said something. This is why I always ask God to let me know if I have said His name out of context or that something was in His will when it was not. We will be held accountable for our words, [But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned. – Matthew 12:36-37]

Now, it does not matter how many times we read the Bible, we are not going to get as wise as God, and we are not going to understand everything about His ways and how He does things. And it does not matter how much science advances, they are never going to understand everything about creation, or the elements. Even Elihu admits this, [Behold, God is great, and we know him not, neither can the number of his years be searched out. For he maketh small the drops of water: they pour down rain according to the vapour thereof: Which the clouds do drop and distil upon man abundantly. Also can any understand the spreadings of the clouds, or the noise of his tabernacle? Behold, he spreadeth his light upon it, and covereth the bottom of the sea. For by them judgeth he the people; he giveth meat in abundance. – Job 36:26-31]

[God is great, and we know him not,] Now, this is true for those who are of the world, God and all His goodness is blind to them, God has actually removed that knowledge from their brains, and unless their heart changes, they will never know Him, and this includes the billions of people who think they know Him, but are in their religion. In fact, Jesus Himself said, [I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. – Matthew 11:25b]. We will not know God if all we perceive Him to be is what we comprehend with our own understanding. Elihu admits that he cannot comprehend everything that God does, [At this also my heart trembleth, and is moved out of his place. Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth. He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth. After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard. God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.Job 37:1-5]

[great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.] My goodness, right there, he is admitting that he does not always understand God’s ways and yet, he proceeds to accuse Job, [Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north. By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened. Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud: And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth. He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy. Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God. – Job 37:9-14]

[By the breath of God frost is given:] Can you get an image of God blowing His breath and sending snow here, rain there, and a thunderstorm over there? It is quite amazing when you stop to think about it. There are so many things that we cannot comprehend about God’s wondrous works. In fact, a life that is being formed in the womb, albeit human or animal, is the most wondrous works of all. Science can take pictures all they want showing that a life is growing inside of another life, but it cannot explain how all the elements come together to form one part of that body, [If the clouds be full of rain, they empty themselves upon the earth: and if the tree fall toward the south, or toward the north, in the place where the tree falleth, there it shall be. He that observeth the wind shall not sow; and he that regardeth the clouds shall not reap. As thou knowest not what is the way of the spirit, nor how the bones do grow in the womb of her that is with child: even so thou knowest not the works of God who maketh all. – Ecclesiastes 11:3-5]

[whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.] Yes, God does use the elements to send judgment, and right now, all that comes to mind is this Covid mess and how everyone is getting it, many who are faithful to God. It is not for us to question why, it is for us to trust that God sends the rain on the just and unjust, but those who live by faith will never see the final judgment, [But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust. – Matthew 5:44-45]

In the next chapters we will see how God responds to Elihu asking these questions to Job, but there are some things that we will never know about how God created them as it should be. No matter how many people try to play God, or control the elements of the world, they cannot, and for good reason. I mean, would you want your life in the hands of the government, scientist, or doctors, they would end them as soon as it costs them money to heal us. Elihu goes on to explain how powerful God is and shows that power through the elements, and how we are unable to fully comprehend them, which is probably the only truthful and knowledgeable thing that he has said this whole time.

[Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness. Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up. And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them. Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty. Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict. Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart. – Job 37:19-24]

[Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out:] Perhaps Job did get discouraged, but there is not one faithful Christian that does not get discouraged when there is no explained answer for their affliction. When we become afflicted and everyone seems to be judging us in every direction, that is when we need to get under the words of Christ and trust that our faith in Him will see us through, and that is how we not only touch God, we find Him out, [By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name. But to do good and to communicate forget not: for with such sacrifices God is well pleased. – Hebrews 13:15-16]

Today’s Prayer: God, One look at a thunderstorm is all I need to see just how powerful You are. I do not need to know every detail about how You made things to know that You made me, and that my life depends on You. Thank You, for Your Word that teaches me that even when Satan uses the elements to afflict me, that You are always with me because I put my faith and trust in Your Son as my Saviour. Lord, Your grace is sufficient, lead me and guide me, fill me with Your knowledge, and give me the wisdom to use that knowledge to glorify You and live in a way that does glorify You. Let me not question Your ways, only ask You to help me endure the afflictions, and trust that You will see me, carry me, bless me through them, and even find prosperity. I love You and ask these things in Your name, Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
