Message: The Debt Collector

Hello My Friend,

[Matthew 6:9b-13  Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.  10  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.  11  Give us this day our daily bread.  12  And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.  13  And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.]

I always say the Lord’s prayer after I call out every name I know as I am praying for them, something stuck out that God seems to want me to talk about today, and that is debt. So, what is debt? Well, we all know what debt is if we have a car, credit card, or house payment. The more debt we place upon ourselves, the harder it is to control it, and there is no room for error, should something happen and we cannot pay that debt, we lose it all. Debt comes in all forms, the debt referred to in the passage is sin, also known as a crime which is punishable. And we know that the punishment or price to pay for sin is eternal death, and hell. Thankfully, Jesus paid that debt for us on the cross with His own debt free life, and we who have accepted this are now debt free. So, instead of trying to pay off that debt, which is impossible, let us just live by faith, and let Christ work in us. [Romans 4:4-5  Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.  5  But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.]

[but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly,] I always wonder where God is leading me when He has me start the message before I even read the Scripture, it is funny how God often lets us know something before it happens. We are justified, meaning we have been pardoned or acquitted of the debt that we owed. When we accept Jesus Christ as out Saviour, our faith in Him is counted for our righteousness. This is nothing new, in fact, the Scripture is referring to Abraham, who had no knowledge of Christ, but was justified just the same, by his faith. Salvation has never been about our own works of righteousness, if it were, then none of us would be saved. It is all about our trusting in the LORD, and coming to Him to deliver us from our unrighteousness.

[Psalms 40:5-8,11-13,17  Many, O LORD my God, are thy wonderful works which thou hast done, and thy thoughts which are to us-ward: they cannot be reckoned up in order unto thee: if I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be numbered.  6  Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire; mine ears hast thou opened: burnt offering and sin offering hast thou not required. 7  Then said I, Lo, I come: in the volume of the book it is written of me,  8  I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart. 11  Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me.  12  For innumerable evils have compassed me about: mine iniquities have taken hold upon me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of mine head: therefore my heart faileth me.  13  Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me: O LORD, make haste to help me.  17  But I am poor and needy; yet the Lord thinketh upon me: thou art my help and my deliverer; make no tarrying, O my God.]

[and thy thoughts which are to us-ward:] Do you understand the thoughts that God has for us? They are not at all evil, in fact, they are precious, [Psalms 139:16-18  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.  17  How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!  18  If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake, I am still with thee.]

[Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me,] Because our debt is enormous, it is impossible to look up at God, which is why we beg for God’s mercies all day long, at least, I know I do. And yet, we are delivered and preserved through our faith alone. And because of our faith, we are encouraged to more forward in our faith, not pack in our past, in the righteousness that Christ has covered us with. And while our faith saves us, and our debt paid, it would be wise to ask God to keep us from unrighteousness.

[Psalms 26:1-4,8-12  A Psalm of David. Judge me, O LORD; for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in the LORD; therefore I shall not slide.  2  Examine me, O LORD, and prove me; try my reins and my heart.  3  For thy lovingkindness is before mine eyes: and I have walked in thy truth.  4  I have not sat with vain persons, neither will I go in with dissemblers. 8  LORD, I have loved the habitation of thy house, and the place where thine honour dwelleth.  9  Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men:  10  In whose hands is mischief, and their right hand is full of bribes.  11  But as for me, I will walk in mine integrity: redeem me, and be merciful unto me.  12  My foot standeth in an even place: in the congregations will I bless the LORD.]

[I will walk in mine integrity:] Integrity; The entire, unimpaired state of any thing, particularly of the mind; moral soundness or purity; incorruptness; uprightness; honesty. We must remember while we do mess up from time to time, unless we have walked away from Christ all together, we are not always a disgrace to God. There is a great deal of integrity in us as we learn God’s Word and follow it. This is a prayer that we all need to keep with us, and perhaps site along with the Lord’s Prayer, it will definitely keep us in check, and get us right with God because we do fail Him. I mean, we carry this flesh with us, but we do have our Father to go to at any time because our feet stand on a sure place, the Rock of Christ, [II Timothy 2:19  Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.]

[Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.] Naturally, the more we walk with Christ the more we are going to walk away from sin. I always wondered how a person could become so evil that they are reprobates when it is God who creates them. Then it occurred to me, actually God pointed it out to me, freewill, He gave Satan freewill and look what he has done. Those who are wicked are born into evil, meaning they are trained that way, a person can train up a child to do evil just as a person can train them in the ways of God.

[Psalms 58:3-5,9-11  The wicked are estranged from the womb: they go astray as soon as they be born, speaking lies.  4  Their poison is like the poison of a serpent: they are like the deaf adder that stoppeth her ear;  5  Which will not hearken to the voice of charmers, charming never so wisely. 9  Before your pots can feel the thorns, he shall take them away as with a whirlwind, both living, and in his wrath.  10  The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance: he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.  11  So that a man shall say, Verily there is a reward for the righteous: verily he is a God that judgeth in the earth.]

[Before your pots can feel the thorns,] This is the same thing as when a frog sits in a pot of water that is on a stove, it is oblivious to the fact that it is slowing dying as the water heats up. God will remove the wicked quickly as they are basking in their sin. Nevertheless, the righteous, meaning those who are saved, will be sheltered from all this and even more. We can go to God anytime in our distress and He will deliver us from it. [Psalms 61:2-5  From the end of the earth will I cry unto thee, when my heart is overwhelmed: lead me to the rock that is higher than I.  3  For thou hast been a shelter for me, and a strong tower from the enemy.  4  I will abide in thy tabernacle for ever: I will trust in the covert of thy wings. Selah.  5  For thou, O God, hast heard my vows: thou hast given me the heritage of those that fear thy name.]

[when my heart is overwhelmed:] Let me tell you, our debt may be paid for our soul, but there is still a price to pay for our heart, it can drag us into some crazy things, and yet, Christ is still our shelter, our strong tower from our biggest enemy of all, Satan himself. The devil can mess with our heart, mind, flesh, but he cannot touch our soul, it belongs to Jesus, who is our Rock, our Strength, and our refuge from all that is evil.

[Psalms 62:5-12  My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him.  6  He only is my rock and my salvation: he is my defence; I shall not be moved.  7  In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.  8  Trust in him at all times; ye people, pour out your heart before him: God is a refuge for us. Selah.  9  Surely men of low degree are vanity, and men of high degree are a lie: to be laid in the balance, they are altogether lighter than vanity.  10  Trust not in oppression, and become not vain in robbery: if riches increase, set not your heart upon them.  11  God hath spoken once; twice have I heard this; that power belongeth unto God.  12  Also unto thee, O Lord, belongeth mercy: for thou renderest to every man according to his work.]

[I shall not be moved.] Do you see that? We shall not be moved! [that power belongeth unto God.] God is the giver and taker of life, He is also the one who grants mercy to those He chooses and destruction upon those He chooses as well, and these are the debtors that must pay it in full.

[Romans 8:10-15  And if Christ be in you, the body is dead because of sin; but the Spirit is life because of righteousness.  11  But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.  12  Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh.  13  For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.  14  For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.  15  For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.]

[we are debtors,] Remember, we are saved by grace, and are not in debt to the Law, it is only those who fall into a life of sin that become debtors to the sin. Let me tell you, it is by the grace of God that we are not persecuted for every little thing that we do in the flesh, it is by our faithfulness that we walk in the ways of Jesus, and in case you have not noticed, Jesus has mercy on all sinners. We are not always going to do what is right, and sometimes we do not have to sin to do wrong, we just make decisions that are not wise, but that is what Jesus is for, we do not have to be perfect because He perfects us. [Hebrews 13:20-21  Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant,  21  Make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.]

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, Thank You for paying the huge amount of debt I owe for my sin when You became my debt payment on the cross. Your debt free payment was all I needed to collect my debt, never having one sin left on my account to pay back. I know You paid my debt freely, and there is nothing I need to do to pay it back, but I want to pay it forward by being the example You need me to be so others can be released from their debt as well. Not only that, You saved me from death and hell, the least I can do is be faithful to You. Lord, Lead me and guide me, fill me with Your mercies and grace, Judge me, I have walked in my integrity, trust me, I will not slide, examine me, prove me, try my reins, and my heart, and if there be any wicked way in me, lead me in the way that is everlasting. I love You, and need You LORD, and ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
