Chapters: The Book of Micah
Message: Walking With Jesus

Hello My Friend,

The Book of Micah contains seven chapters, the author of the book is Micah and it was written to Israel and all nations. The timeline for these events took place approximately between 758BC and 710BC. The purpose of the book is a call to repentance to avoid judgment. What we are to learn from the book is that God judges all and pardons all who repent and trust in Him for their salvation. “He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.” – Micah 7:19.

As Christians, we would like to think that we live by every word of God, but the truth is, we do not. Every single saved, born again Christian struggles with something they are trying to overcome. Now, we are all saved by the grace of God and nothing we do can take away our salvation, but we can still suffer for the sinful things that remain, especially if we are content to keep the sin in our lives. While Isaiah prophesied in Judah, Micah was sent to Samaria, he was sent to remind them of their sin and the judgment placed upon them.

For the transgression of Jacob is all this, and for the sins of the house of Israel. What is the transgression of Jacob? is it not Samaria? and what are the high places of Judah? are they not Jerusalem? Therefore I will make Samaria as an heap of the field, and as plantings of a vineyard: and I will pour down the stones thereof into the valley, and I will discover the foundations thereof. And all the graven images thereof shall be beaten to pieces, and all the hires thereof shall be burned with the fire, and all the idols thereof will I lay desolate: for she gathered it of the hire of an harlot, and they shall return to the hire of an harlot. Therefore I will wail and howl, I will go stripped and naked: I will make a wailing like the dragons, and mourning as the owls. For her wound is incurable; for it is come unto Judah; he is come unto the gate of my people, even to Jerusalem.– Micah 1:5-9.

For her wound is incurable; Think about it, these were not people that had no idea God existed, they were, in fact, people God chose as His. There comes a time when a God nation that continuously rebels against Him will be judged, but it all comes down to each individual, no matter what nation we live in. Anyone can at any time go to God to be freed from the bondage of their sin. And while He loves His people, He will not watch them living in the lusts of their flesh. Therefore, He lets them face their judgment alone until they turn to Him.

But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin. Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity. They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity. The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us. Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.– Micah 3:8-12.

Is not the LORD among us?Mega churches, television evangelists, faith healers, these are all examples of false prophets, declaring that God is with them, but He is really no where to be found. Anyone can take some Scripture from the Bible and use it to say that God is with them, but true Christians reflect Christ off them by their humble actions. Now, if we turn to Him with all of our heart, intent on removing the sin than He will be right there with open arms to help us. God warns, God allows, but God also forgives, and forgives, through Micah we learn of the glorious day that Christ will reign and rebuild His kingdom with His remnant of believers.

But in the last days it shall come to pass, that the mountain of the house of the LORD shall be established in the top of the mountains, and it shall be exalted above the hills; and people shall flow unto it. And many nations shall come, and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, and to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for the law shall go forth of Zion, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. And I will make her that halted a remnant, and her that was cast far off a strong nation: and the LORD shall reign over them in mount Zion from henceforth, even for ever.– Micah 4:1-2,7.

But in the last days it shall come to pass,What a sight it will be to see Jesus walking the earth again as He gathers the last remnant of believers. The most effective way to overcome any sin, is walking with Jesus. I am not talking about just getting saved and going to church on Sunday’s, I am talking about taking Jesus with you everywhere you go. The more He walks with you the harder it is to let sin come in. We must understand that a life with Jesus is not about religious rituals of confession and sacrifice, it never has been, it is about loving Him giving Him all of our heart. Through Micah, God explains this further.

Wherewith shall I come before the LORD, and bow myself before the high God? shall I come before him with burnt offerings, with calves of a year old? Will the LORD be pleased with thousands of rams, or with ten thousands of rivers of oil? shall I give my firstborn for my transgression, the fruit of my body for the sin of my soul? He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?– Micah 6:6-8.

and to walk humbly with thy God?When we walk with Jesus we think about every step we take, and are more prone to refrain from anything that will be displeasing to God. I get it, walking with Jesus can be lonely sometimes, especially when you are trying to live your life through Him and everywhere you turn sin is right there at the door. We must realize that people are our biggest influence, and sometimes it is better to be alone than allow ourselves to be corrupted by those who live in the world, some of which are family.

Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom. For the son dishonoureth the father, the daughter riseth up against her mother, the daughter in law against her mother in law; a man’s enemies are the men of his own house. Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me. I will bear the indignation of the LORD, because I have sinned against him, until he plead my cause, and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth to the light, and I shall behold his righteousness. Who is a God like unto thee, that pardoneth iniquity, and passeth by the transgression of the remnant of his heritage? he retaineth not his anger for ever, because he delighteth in mercy. He will turn again, he will have compassion upon us; he will subdue our iniquities; and thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.– Micah 7:5-9,18-19.

a man’s enemies are the men of his own house. My goodness, this cannot be further from the truth, I have seen families, even my own, torn apart because of jealousy, deception, and bad choices. No matter how alone we feel, we are not alone because Jesus is always with us, that is when we faithfully walk with Him. There is not one person on earth that we can put our complete and total trust in. Why? Because we carry this wretched flesh and under certain circumstances, especially if we do not have Him close by, any of us can fall. More people get hurt by loved ones than anyone else, but Jesus is above all that and can help us overcome anything. If you have gotten caught up in sin by someone you love, give it all over to Jesus, He will help you overcome. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30.

Jesus Christ Magnified: Today, Jesus is revealed as the Light (Mic 7:8). Jesus is the Light that brings us out of the darkness of sin and any other situation we encounter. “I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness.” – John 12:46.

Today’s Prayer: God, I know I have been in my share of messes in life, but there is not one I did not create on my own. The amazing thing is that You were there to clean it up for me, I know I tried so many times to do things on my own, but time and time again You remind me of how weak I am. Thank You for the strength to come to You and even though I still mess up, I know You are always there to help me when I come to You. Lord, Keep me faithful to You by taking You wherever I go, help me to keep my eyes on You and not on my heart, trusting that only You can truly carry me through. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
