Message: As You Have Believed

Hello My Friend,

power-in-believingAs Christians we know the power of God, and that with Him all things are possible, but for some reason we talk ourselves into believing that God will never give us that thing, or send us that person, or provide for us because we are just not good enough for Him to do anything great in our lives. Let me tell you, that is not the thought God has toward us. Does He want us to be saved and living in sin? No. Does He want us living in pain and agony? No. Salvation has nothing to do with our works, it is all about our faith in Christ alone, but just as we believed that He alone can save us, we must believe that He is capable of much more. “Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us, Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” – Ephesians 3:20.

according to the power that worketh in us,” You see that? As powerful as God is, He is powerless in our lives unless we give Him that power. Did you ever see a flashlight that is powered by a hand crank? It gets its light by winding it up, the more you wind it, the brighter it becomes. Once you stop winding it it the light gets dimmer until it goes out. This is how Jesus works, wind Him up with faith and He shines through us, the more we believe the more He shines. The more miraculous things that Jesus did the more people came to see what He was all about, some set out to prove that it was all just hype, some to find out who He really was, and there were some who really believed. As Jesus was walking through Capernaum an unlikely person came up to Him, a Roman soldier, asking Him to heal his servant who was deathly ill.

And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel. And I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.” – Matthew 8:7-12.

he marvelled,” Marvel, A wonder; that which gets the attention and causes a person to stand, gaze or pause. Jesus just stood there surrounded by Jews, and a Roman soldier had more faith in Him than they did. Jesus, has great power in Him, and he can do great things in our lives, but unless we come to Him with our faith He can do nothing. If all we do is get saved and nothing more His light will go out and we will feel as though He is not even with us. Remember though, the power is still in the light, but we must wind it up to see it, Jesus is still in us, we just need to have more faith in Him.

If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.” – James 1:5-7.

But let him ask in faith,Do you think that God does not see our faith when we are praying? He does. We must understand that when God answers prayers or even heals those who have no idea who He is, He does not just pick and choose certain people, he takes great care in our needs and whether He chooses to heal someone in our presence or take them to heaven, He knows that it best for us. The Scriptures often told of Jesus, so you can imagine when rumors of this man they only heard about was surfacing that they began to wonder if He was the Messiah. Even John the Baptist sent some of his disciples to see if it was Jesus doing these things.

Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings’ courts. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet. This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” – Luke 7:22-28.

but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.” I imagine many of the people expected John to be the Messiah. As much as Jesus exalted him, his works did not save him, he too had to believe the Saviour, as do we all if we want to see the kingdom of God. The least, the worst sinner of all is greater in the Kingdom of God than the most righteous person on earth. Why? Because they have Jesus. I always say if I am scrubbing floors in heaven at least I am not in hell. Our works have never saved us (even Old Testament people) because we could never measure up to Jesus. Those who were saved before Jesus had to trust the Saviour (the LORD) as well. “Ye are my witnesses, saith the LORD, and my servant whom I have chosen: that ye may know and believe me, and understand that I am he: before me there was no God formed, neither shall there be after me. I, even I, am the LORD; and beside me there is no saviour.” – Isaiah 43:10-11.

Many times we as Christians, even though we are saved, still carry around this guilt from our past, most of the time it us because of the people who never let us forget. Let me tell you, if you ever wanted all your past sins to be exposed, run for office, the opposition is sure to find them all. A Pharisee invited Jesus to dinner, He along with His disciples ate and while they were there a woman started ministering to Jesus.

Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner. And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on. And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head. Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet. My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment. Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little. And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” – Luke 7:39-40,44-47,50.

Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.” We are all sinners, saved by the grace of God, through our faith in the finished work of our Lord Jesus Christ. No one is better than anyone else, yes, some of us have sinned more than others, but sin is sin, and anyone who thinks themselves as all righteous and without sin better think again, because no one born in this world is without sin. We are going to face opposition for our past, even though we are forgiven by Jesus, which is why it is wise that we live a godly life after we are saved, but more important is believing that He alone is our salvation. “That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.” – I Peter 1:7-9.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And Jesus said unto the centurion, Go thy way; and as thou hast believed, so be it done unto thee. And his servant was healed in the selfsame hour.” – Matthew 8:13.

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, You know my heart, my thoughts, and even my actions before I do them. I know that I am who I am today because You are in me. I am not the same creature I was when You picked me up out of the hole I was in, but You are not done with me yet. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me the strength and power to wind up Your Light within me so that You shine through me. Let me be a witness and a testimony for those who need You, and even those who lost their way. In Your name, Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
