Message: All Scripture Is Profitable

Hello My Friend,

The Word of God. Did you ever wonder why there are so many versions of the Bible when there is really only One Bible? Man desires things that God does not approve of while still wanting God in their lives. Human nature, or rather sin nature, tells us that something we are doing is correct while the Holy Spirit, often through reading the Scriptures, tell us that it is wrong. What do we do then? We either follow it, ignore it, or find some “version” that says we are correct. For instance, a couple living in fornication ignore the fact that God is not pleased with their living in sin, they search the Scriptures for something that tells them it is okay, only to find this “version” that tells them it is, they ignore the truth, continue living in sin, wondering why bad things always happens to them. Let me tell you, we are not perfect, we mess up everyday, it takes time to learn what the Bible tells us, and that is why we are always a work in progress, but every word is important, once we learn it it is important to obey it. “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.” – II Timothy 3:16-17.

We do not have to be a Bible scholar to know that some things God does not approve of, and while obeying God’s Word apart from getting saved through Christ has nothing to do with our salvation, it does help us get through this life a little more easier when we obey. The problem is not we do not understand, the problem is that we have this flesh and pride that does not want to understand. We cannot mix Scripture with religion, those two are not the same thing, if we are going to follow God we need to do it by His Word, not religion. Now, after Jesus was born, word got out quickly that a new King was born. Kings from all over the world followed the star that would lead them to their King, some ended up in Jerusalem, asking king Herod where He was.

Now when Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judaea in the days of Herod the king, behold, there came wise men from the east to Jerusalem, Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. When Herod the king had heard these things, he was troubled, and all Jerusalem with him. And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded of them where Christ should be born. And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, art not the least among the princes of Juda: for out of thee shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. When they had heard the king, they departed; and, lo, the star, which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over where the young child was. Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise men.– Matthew 2:1-6,9,16.

Where is he that is born King of the Jews?” When you stop to think about this question this had to be God sending them to tell the Jews that Jesus had been born. The chief priests and scribes frantically searching the Scriptures trying to find an answer for the king only to discover that all this was planned. How easy is it to forget what the Scriptures tell us when we get caught up in religion? How easy is it to get offended when we discover that we are doing something that does not please God? That is Holy Spirit conviction there. I know what it feels like to discover something I had been doing I need to stop, and it can be a struggle to let go, but it can be done with the power of Christ. The reason so many people reject Christ and even try to stop Him is because He has great power, if He can turn me around, help me eliminate things that were so dear to me, He can do the same for anyone. “Wherefore henceforth know we no man after the flesh: yea, though we have known Christ after the flesh, yet now henceforth know we him no more. Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.– II Corinthians 5:16-17.

For the first time ever all these stories written in the Scriptures from the prophets are coming to pass and these people are horrified at the thought. Their first thought, get rid of this child before He has a chance to tell the truth. This is the thought of every religion that does not tell the truth. Why do you think they are so quick to push away those who know the Scriptures and follow them? If people knew what is really in them they might just reject the religion and turn to Christ. God sent Joseph a message to take Mary and her child to Egypt and remain there until Herod died. A few years later they returned and were led by God to dwell in Nazareth.

But when Herod was dead, behold, an angel of the Lord appeareth in a dream to Joseph in Egypt, Saying, Arise, and take the young child and his mother, and go into the land of Israel: for they are dead which sought the young child’s life. And he arose, and took the young child and his mother, and came into the land of Israel. But when he heard that Archelaus did reign in Judaea in the room of his father Herod, he was afraid to go thither: notwithstanding, being warned of God in a dream, he turned aside into the parts of Galilee: And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.” – Matthew 2:19-23.

He shall be called a Nazarene.” Nazarene, meaning despised and rejected, a mark of public contempt and reproach. The term throughout the New Testament was applied to followers of Christ, by way of contempt, but was later adopted and gloried in by the disciples as one of Christ’s. The name still exists in Arabic, as the ordinary designation of Christians. Since we belong to Christ we too are going to be despised and rejected, but just like Jesus overcame, we will too. “If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own: but because ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you.” – John 15:18-19.

We will realize that as we read the Scriptures they do not all pertain to us today. Why do we read them all? To give us a better understanding of why we now are under the law of grace. The entire Bible has been given to us so we can learn what God despises and loves and how He dealt with man over the years. He is the same God and never changes, but that does not mean we are not to respect what He believes and how He wants us all to be. Each year Joseph would bring Mary and Jesus into Jerusalem for the Passover, they would travel together as a group with friends and family, although Jesus was the Son of God He still respected them ans obeyed them.

And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him. Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover. And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast. And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it. And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing. And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business? And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them. And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart. And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.– Luke 2:40-43,48-52.

behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.Do you see her error? She called Joseph His father. Under certain circumstances we can often forget the very things we experience from having a relationship with Christ. Of course, she knew that Joseph was not Jesus’ father, but it was out of habit as she had many other children after Him. Mary did the same thing any mother does when their child gets lost, she panicked then scolded him for not staying with them. She really had nothing to worry about because it was Jesus, He knew better than to get himself into trouble, and the time certainly did not come yet that the rest of the people would find out who He was and try to kill Him, as far as they were concerned He was Joseph’s son. This is a good reminder that we must make sure our eyes are on Jesus at all times so we do not lose sight of Him and panic. “Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.” – Hebrews 12:1-2.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father’s business?” – Luke 2:49.

Today’s Prayer: God, I want to walk in the wisdom of Your Word in the choices I make today, You have given me the freedom to choose how to live my life and I choose to live it to please You. I know I will not always be obedient, but also know that Your grace is sufficient enough to get me back in it every time and as I live in subjection to Your Word learn to be more like Your Son and less like myself. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
