Message: Psalms: Blessed Are The Chosen
Hello My Friend,
Yesterday, I forgot to say, Happy Mother’s Day to all mothers and mother figures, so a belated Happy Mother’s Day to you. I surprised my brother and brought our mom to his church, then we had lunch at his house. We had a nice time and it was good to see how my new car handled the highway, it is a little smaller than what I am use to, but it drives pretty good and so much easier for my mom to get in and out of. So, praise God for the little things, [1 Peter 4:11 If any man speak, let him speak as the oracles of God; if any man minister, let him do it as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.]
Once more time I asked God if getting this car was in His will and with all my heart and soul I do believe that it was. Now, as we return to the reading of the Psalms we learn that Christ is always in the details, and while He welcomes all, He will only save those who sincerely come to Him by faith, [2 Timothy 2:10-13 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. 11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him: 12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us: 13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.]
Think about it, we whom have already received Christ as our Saviour are to endure all things for the elect, meaning those who are not quite saved yet in hopes that they will see Christ in us and want to receive Him as their Saviour as well. This reminds me of another passage, [2 Corinthians 4:15-18 For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. 16 For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. 17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; 18 While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal.]
Yesterday, we learned that out of foolishness and pride, Ammon and Syria joined forces to attack Israel, but quickly learned that they were no match for them as long as God was on their side. Today, we are reminded that we do not choose God on our own, He chooses us based on our faith in Him.
[Psalms 65:1-5 To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed. 2 O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come. 3 Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away. 4 Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple. 5 By terrible things in righteousness wilt thou answer us, O God of our salvation; who art the confidence of all the ends of the earth, and of them that are afar off upon the sea:]
Think about it, with all the people that come and go into the world and the freewill given to them it is really astounding that only a fraction not only have faith in God, but actually seek Him for salvation. In fact, the majority have no idea what salvation is. The terrible things in righteousness that God answers us with is the awe-inspiring, awesome, wonderful, yet just judgment that all receive, [John 3:16-18 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.]
God, is no respecter of persons, while He may know who will receive Him that does not mean that He will not give all the opportunity to repent. There is just way too many incredible and super natural things in the world to deny that someone created it all. God, is so righteous in His judgment that He sends the rain upon the just and the unjust, meaning, provides for each and every soul, at least, while they are in their flesh.
[Psalms 65:9-13 Thou visitest the earth, and waterest it: thou greatly enrichest it with the river of God, which is full of water: thou preparest them corn, when thou hast so provided for it. 10 Thou waterest the ridges thereof abundantly: thou settlest the furrows thereof: thou makest it soft with showers: thou blessest the springing thereof. 11 Thou crownest the year with thy goodness; and thy paths drop fatness. 12 They drop upon the pastures of the wilderness: and the little hills rejoice on every side. 13 The pastures are clothed with flocks; the valleys also are covered over with corn; they shout for joy, they also sing.]
This reminds me of this fool who said that corn cannot be produced on its own and needs to be genetically modified by man in order to get it to grow. How does he think that corn got here? Of course, since the earth was cursed from sin just as man was that it is necessary to plant and replant pretty much everything that goes into the ground for food every year, but people who believe they need to help God out have no clue what He is capable of. Jesus, actually said it this way, [John 12:24-26 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. 25 He that loveth his life shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world shall keep it unto life eternal. 26 If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.]
Since we who belong to Jesus can expect that His will for us is not just to get saved and continue living our lives as we please, we can also expect that He is going to show us what that is. Jesus, gave His life for us, and while we are not obligated to do anything, we do owe Him some gratitude for taking the punishment that we deserved.
[Psalms 66:1-7 To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm. Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands: 2 Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious. 3 Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee. 4 All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah. 5 Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men. 6 He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him. 7 He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.]
The wicked world thinks that they have all the power to control everything, but they actually have no control at all. Even Satan and his demons know that they must obey God, [James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.]
So many people make the mistake of thinking that once they get saved all of their troubles will disappear. Well, God promises eternal life after we endure the pain of this life, He did not promise that all of our troubles will disappear. In fact, we would have less troubles if we listened to God in the first place when He tells us that we need to stay away from something.
[Psalms 66:8-12,16-20 O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard: 9 Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved. 10 For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried. 11 Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins. 12 Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. 16 Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul. 17 I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue. 18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me: 19 But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer. 20 Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.]
You better believe that God is going to try the hearts of all mankind just like silver is melted over and over again to remove its impurities He does the same with us. Why? The answer is in the Scripture, [If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:] While God has no problem with constant repentance He does have a problem with those who have no intention of repenting, and those who will not heed the warnings to repent will have a very rough time here until they either repent or God brings them home so they can no longer hurt themselves, [Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.]
Keep in mind that one who lives in sin after their salvation cannot lose their salvation, however, God, will not be mocked. While His mercy is endless for those whom have accepted Christ, He will not continue to watch one living in sin with no desire to remove it. And those who truly, with all their heart, have trusted Christ to save their souls will not be moved away from Him when affliction comes, and when we can praise God through the affliction, the battle is half over.
[Psalms 67:1-7 To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah. 2 That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations. 3 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 4 O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah. 5 Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee. 6 Then shall the earth yield her increase; and God, even our own God, shall bless us. 7 God shall bless us; and all the ends of the earth shall fear him.]
Sooner or later all will know who Jesus is, and sadly, they will fear Him when it is too late. However, if you ever wondered why faithful Christians seem to face more felicitation, it is that we will never see pain again. I find myself arguing with God over and over again on the same matters, which He has already has told me to trust Him with. Which is why I need to praise Him every day. We can do more than praise Him and just accept the affliction, we can ask for Him to help us, which is the point.
[Psalms 69:1-6 To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul. 2 I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me. 3 I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. 4 They that hate me without a cause are more than the hairs of mine head: they that would destroy me, being mine enemies wrongfully, are mighty: then I restored that which I took not away. 5 O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee. 6 Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.]
Everything that we go through, even before we got saved, has already been appointed to us by God Himself. And He also knew every single thing that would befall us, and has yet to come, and is still faithful. And the pain, it will not last, there is always an expected end, [Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.]
Right now, God is proving all His nations, and I tell you what, it is big fat fail for all of them. God, is trying to get through to all of these false religions and open their eyes to see that they are all sending them to hell. Regardless of the time that we are in, there is no room for ignorance nor is their room for believing in something that is not true. We find within this Psalm that Jesus speaking as He is hanging on the cross.
[Psalms 69:7-13 Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. 8 I am become a stranger unto my brethren, and an alien unto my mother’s children. 9 For the zeal of thine house hath eaten me up; and the reproaches of them that reproached thee are fallen upon me. 10 When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. 11 I made sackcloth also my garment; and I became a proverb to them. 12 They that sit in the gate speak against me; and I was the song of the drunkards. 13 But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.]
This is in reference to the people passing by, mocking Him and shaking their heads at Him and as the Psalm continues we learn of an incredible prophecy, [Psalms 69:19-22,26-28 Thou hast known my reproach, and my shame, and my dishonour: mine adversaries are all before thee. 20 Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none. 21 They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink. 22 Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap. 26 For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded. 27 Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness. 28 Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.]
The very last thing that the soldiers did before Jesus died was try to give Him vinegar to drink, [John 19:29-30 Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth. 30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.] Vinegar, is made from grapes, had Jesus gotten one drop of that in His mouth, it would have defiled Him. It was just at that moment that He died, even the men finally saw that He is the Son of God, [Mark 15:39 And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.]
It is truly amazing that even before God’s Word was written that true believers knew that their names would be written in the book of the living, also known as the Book of life. And there is a book for the dead as well, [Revelation 20:12-15 And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works. 13 And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works. 14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death. 15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.]
God, never intended for any soul to end up in hell, that was meant for Satan alone and his minions, but God is a just God and therefore, sin comes with the hefty price of death and hell. All we can do is praise Him for all that He is and thank Him for making the way to salvation simple.
[Psalms 69:30-36 I will praise the name of God with a song, and will magnify him with thanksgiving. 31 This also shall please the LORD better than an ox or bullock that hath horns and hoofs. 32 The humble shall see this, and be glad: and your heart shall live that seek God. 33 For the LORD heareth the poor, and despiseth not his prisoners. 34 Let the heaven and earth praise him, the seas, and every thing that moveth therein. 35 For God will save Zion, and will build the cities of Judah: that they may dwell there, and have it in possession. 36 The seed also of his servants shall inherit it: and they that love his name shall dwell therein.]
You see, since sin comes naturally to us, God anticipated that we will sin over and over again, which is why He came up with the plan of atonement from the beginning, which was only a temporary fix until Christ’s passion. When we humble ourselves, and admit we are sinners, believe that Christ died a sinless death to save our soul, and confess that we need Him to save our soul, that is when He saves it, [Romans 10:9-10 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.]
No matter what affliction we face in this time of our life, as saved, born again Christians we must remember one thing, we belong to Christ. Even if we were to die today, we still have the victory, people may mock us for having put our faith in Christ, but they are the ones who will be sorry when they face Jesus Himself. Whenever we get to the point that the affliction is going to overtake us, we need to remember that God is in control, and our faith in Him is all He needs to deliver us.
[Psalms 70:1-5 To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David, to bring to remembrance. Make haste, O God, to deliver me; make haste to help me, O LORD. 2 Let them be ashamed and confounded that seek after my soul: let them be turned backward, and put to confusion, that desire my hurt. 3 Let them be turned back for a reward of their shame that say, Aha, aha. 4 Let all those that seek thee rejoice and be glad in thee: and let such as love thy salvation say continually, Let God be magnified. 5 But I am poor and needy: make haste unto me, O God: thou art my help and my deliverer; O LORD, make no tarrying.]
Affliction can come at any time, and it can stop us in our tracks. Some affliction just scares us a little bit, while at other times it is a down right nightmare. No matter what we face, Christ will deliver us as long as we have received Him as our Saviour. We cannot eliminate affliction, but we can keep reminding ourselves that God has a plan and His will for our lives has much more impact than anything in our own, and after He has tried us, we shall come for as gold, [Job 23:8-10 Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him: 9 On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him: 10 But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold.]
Today’s Prayer: God, I will admit that I am not always thankful to You for all that You have brought me through, and spend a lot of time fighting with You, even though I know exactly what is going on. You do not care what others are doing, You care what I am doing, and will not allow me to take on what I cannot handle. Sometimes what You do allow me to handle seems unbearable, but I know that You are my strength. Thank You for loving and caring for me, I see Your hand, You taking care of me, providing for me, protecting me, and while I know I fight with You, You know my heart, and You do know what I can handle, and all I can do is wait on You, and praise You while I do. Lord, You put me through the fire, and I know will come forth as gold. I ask this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
