Message: Void Of Understanding

Hello My Friend,

When I was praying this morning found myself asking God why it has been so hard for me to keep my schedule lately, even with Him. He responded by telling me that my heart and priorities are the reason, and I need to get my priorities straight in order to get my heart right. You know, we focus so much on the things we want for our lives that we forget it is not what we want, it is what God wants. We may have these plans, but it is ultimately what God wants that is going to happen, whether we like it or not. Sometimes we think that it is the devil or God testing our faith as to why we seem to never move forward in the things we attempt, but if it is not something that is in God’s will for us, we really are not going to go very far. “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” – I Corinthians 15:58.

forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” Vain; Empty; worthless; having no substance, value or importance; Void. Void; Empty; vacant; not occupied with any visible matter; Unsubstantial; vain. Did you ever take a job just for the sake of a paycheck? Did you ever spend time with someone just for the sake of not being alone? Did you ever go to church just for the sake of a friend? All of these things are examples of doing something that is vain or void, it has no value. It is all work that will lead to wasteful and precious time lost or even worse, down a path of unforgettable pain. The devil is all too willing to take us down a path that will hinder us from God will and blessings. As I said before, sin is not something we fall into all at once, it happens gradually as our heart moves further away from God. Through an illustration of an adulteress prostitute, God addresses how being void of understanding is what the devil uses to lead people astray.

For at the window of my house I looked through my casement, And beheld among the simple ones, I discerned among the youths, a young man void of understanding, Passing through the street near her corner; and he went the way to her house, In the twilight, in the evening, in the black and dark night: And, behold, there met him a woman with the attire of an harlot, and subtil of heart. I have decked my bed with coverings of tapestry, with carved works, with fine linen of Egypt. I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. Come, let us take our fill of love until the morning: let us solace ourselves with loves. For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a long journey: He hath taken a bag of money with him, and will come home at the day appointed.” – Proverbs 7:6-10,16-20.

a young man void of understanding,The devil will constantly be looking for that one thing he can use to influence us, that we are void of understanding. For example, it is not that they do not understand that adultery is a sin, it is perhaps that they are void of understanding those subtle hints that introduce sin. Why do you think people become addicts? Why do you think people become abusers? Why do you think people become victims? It is all because they are void of understanding. We have all gotten into something a time or two because we were void of understanding, once we make those decisions we have to deal with the repercussions of it. Can God help us? Of course, He can, and He will if we go to Him with it. The issue is not about God turning all things around for good, it is about our being obedient to Him in the first place. You want to know the will of God for your life? Here is is. “In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit. Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good. Abstain from all appearance of evil. And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” – I Thessalonians 5:18-23.

And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly;Remember, obedience is better than sacrifice. If we lean on God’s understanding instead of our own, we will find that we will not have to work so hard. I often wonder, especially when reading through the Psalms, Proverbs, and prophecy books, just how many people read the Bible and are void of understanding the fact that God or Jesus is the one speaking. I mean, do they literally think that it is Solomon who is describing himself when it is clearly Jesus describing Himself in this chapter.

The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old. I was set up from everlasting, from the beginning, or ever the earth was. When there were no depths, I was brought forth; when there were no fountains abounding with water. Before the mountains were settled, before the hills was I brought forth: While as yet he had not made the earth, nor the fields, nor the highest part of the dust of the world. When he prepared the heavens, I was there: when he set a compass upon the face of the depth: When he established the clouds above: when he strengthened the fountains of the deep: When he gave to the sea his decree, that the waters should not pass his commandment: when he appointed the foundations of the earth: Then I was by him, as one brought up with him: and I was daily his delight, rejoicing always before him; Rejoicing in the habitable part of his earth; and my delights were with the sons of men.” – Proverbs 8:22-31.

Then I was by him, as one brought up with him:All this brings to mind the doubts of the Pharisees when they were questioning Jesus as He spoke about seeing Abraham. “Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.” – John 8:56-58. Those who are void of understanding greatly lack the faith needed to understand that Jesus and God are one. and my delights were with the sons of men.Jesus delights in us. As crazy as it sounds, and as ornery as we can be, Jesus loves and delights in each and every one of us. Now, imagine how much more He delights in seeing us living our lives in obedience to His commands. Now therefore hearken unto me, O ye children: for blessed are they that keep my ways. Hear instruction, and be wise, and refuse it not. Blessed is the man that heareth me, watching daily at my gates, waiting at the posts of my doors. For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.” – Proverbs 8:32-36.

But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul:” Jesus loves all, after all, He died for all of us, but He takes extra special care of those who love Him in return by removing those things from their lives that sin against their own soul. I come to realize the more I teach God’s truths, the more people I attract, some are rude and try to quiet me, but quite a few find hope and comfort in hearing about Jesus. You cannot explain the Word of God to those who are void of understanding the simple things, all it does is get us riled up and take valuable time away from someone who really wants to hear it. This is explained further in this chapter.

Come, eat of my bread, and drink of the wine which I have mingled. Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding. He that reproveth a scorner getteth to himself shame: and he that rebuketh a wicked man getteth himself a blot. Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee: rebuke a wise man, and he will love thee. Give instruction to a wise man, and he will be yet wiser: teach a just man, and he will increase in learning. The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. For by me thy days shall be multiplied, and the years of thy life shall be increased. If thou be wise, thou shalt be wise for thyself: but if thou scornest, thou alone shalt bear it.” – Proverbs 9:5-12.

Reprove not a scorner, lest he hate thee:” We spend so much valuable time trying to convince those void of understanding God’s truths that they are wrong in what they believe that we lose sight of why Jesus sends us out into the world in the first place. “And now come I to thee; and these things I speak in the world, that they might have my joy fulfilled in themselves. I have given them thy word; and the world hath hated them, because they are not of the world, even as I am not of the world. I pray not that thou shouldest take them out of the world, but that thou shouldest keep them from the evil. I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.” – John 17:13-15,23.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “For whoso findeth me findeth life, and shall obtain favour of the LORD. But he that sinneth against me wrongeth his own soul: all they that hate me love death.” – Proverbs 8:35-36.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You, Father, for adopting us into Your family the second we receive Your Son as our Saviour. We are not saved by any of our works, only by grace through our faith and acceptance of Your Son, and His finished work on the cross. Our faith in You needs to go beyond our salvation, we need a continual walk with Jesus to conform into an image the resembles Him, and part of that walk is in reading Your Word, and applying it to our lives. We too were void of understanding You, but as we learn and grow in Your Word we lean toward Your understanding and become vessels of honor, bringing others to Your Son. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
