Message: God’s Indignation And Wrath

Hello My Friend,

There is something that all of us, who are saved and born again must come to realize, we will face some suffering in this life, the pains, the sorrows, the grief, the chastening, they are all what God uses to perfect us. Whether we face trials and tribulation from our own sin, the sin of someone else, or for God to prove us, they are unavoidable. What we can expect is the fact that one day all our trials and tribulation will be over once we get to heaven. Furthermore, we can also expect eternal life and immortality once Christ returns and gives us our new body. And while we get to rejoice in all this, those who never received Christ as their Saviour will not.

[Romans 2:6-11  Who will render to every man according to his deeds:  7  To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life:  8  But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,  9  Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;  10  But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:  11  For there is no respect of persons with God.]

[For there is no respect of persons with God.] God does not care what family you came from, what religion you grew up in, or what sin you committed, He cares about your soul. In fact, He cared about it so much that He came here Himself in the person of His Son, Jesus Christ, and gave His life for you so you would not have to face His indignation and wrath. Yes, we do get chastened by God in this time of our lives, after all, once we leave this earth, we are clear and free from anymore judgments against us. However, that cannot be said for the rest of the world, they are going to deal with God’s indignation and wrath. The Book of Nahum contains three chapters, the author is Nahum and it was written to the city of Nineveh. The timeline was about 660BC. The purpose of the book was to warn them of the coming judgment. What we are to learn from the book is that God hates and avenges all evil. [Nahum 1:2  God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.]

Remember when Jonah was sent by God to tell Nineveh of the judgment placed on them? They repented and God saved their lives. Remember also, when he went up to a mountain, sat under a tree, and waited to see if they were going to return to their wicked ways? I was then that God upbraided him and told him that all souls mattered to Him. Well, here we are a hundred years later, and they became worse than they ever were. Nineveh found out about the mercies of God, but they never knew His indignation, and they were about to discover it. God shows Nahum the judgment they are facing, and this time there will be no mercy.

[Nahum 1:1-3,6-8  The burden of Nineveh. The book of the vision of Nahum the Elkoshite.  2  God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.  3  The LORD is slow to anger, and great in power, and will not at all acquit the wicked: the LORD hath his way in the whirlwind and in the storm, and the clouds are the dust of his feet. 6  Who can stand before his indignation? and who can abide in the fierceness of his anger? his fury is poured out like fire, and the rocks are thrown down by him.  7  The LORD is good, a strong hold in the day of trouble; and he knoweth them that trust in him.  8  But with an overrunning flood he will make an utter end of the place thereof, and darkness shall pursue his enemies.]

[Who can stand before his indignation?] Indignation; Extreme anger; The wrath of God against the unrepentant for their ingratitude and rebellion. Wrath; The just punishment of an offense or crime. Did you know that if a person who gets saved returns to a life of sin, that they become worse than had they never been saved? God really is slow to anger, His mercies are so much more than we realize, we do not deserve them. God is a jealous God, He will not be mocked, a saved, born again Christ who abuses His mercies by living a life of unrepentant sin will die in their sin, [I John 5:17-20  All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.  18  We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.  19  And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.  20  And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.]

[This is the true God, and eternal life.] This is why we must face trials and tribulation while we are here, once we leave the earth, there will be no more. God is not going to let us live a life of sin and then just go to heaven, there is always a price to pay for sin. God made it clear when He sent Jonah to Nineveh that He wants every nation to be saved from judgment, but just like He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah because there were none righteous left there, He will destroy any nation in their sin. God gives many warnings for repentance to avoid the consequence of such drastic judgment, that is why Jesus has not returned yet. However, there does come a time when there is a final warning, which is what He was doing with Nineveh. God was merciful to spare them the first time, but they never kept God in their heart, trusting that He would always be there for them. We must remember, that this is not just a couple of people living in sin, this is an entire country.

[Nahum 2:1-3,7-8,13  He that dasheth in pieces is come up before thy face: keep the munition, watch the way, make thy loins strong, fortify thy power mightily.  2  For the LORD hath turned away the excellency of Jacob, as the excellency of Israel: for the emptiers have emptied them out, and marred their vine branches.  3  The shield of his mighty men is made red, the valiant men are in scarlet: the chariots shall be with flaming torches in the day of his preparation, and the fir trees shall be terribly shaken.  7  And Huzzab shall be led away captive, she shall be brought up, and her maids shall lead her as with the voice of doves, tabering upon their breasts.  8  But Nineveh is of old like a pool of water: yet they shall flee away. Stand, stand, shall they cry; but none shall look back. 13  Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will burn her chariots in the smoke, and the sword shall devour thy young lions: and I will cut off thy prey from the earth, and the voice of thy messengers shall no more be heard.]

[and the sword shall devour thy young lions:] The lions are represented as Assyria, for their strength, courage, cruelty, tyranny, and oppression and is what led them to take over so many nations. The kings of Assyria had long been terrible and cruel to their neighbors, now, God was going to destroy that power. The Assyrians were like a good majority of people today, strong, cruel, tyrant, and they have no regard for what they are doing, no remorse, no shame, no guilt, and oblivious to the judgment cast upon them. Yes, God is a loving and merciful God, but He is also a just God, and will destroy sin, even if that means wiping out an entire nation. The sins of Nineveh were charged, called out by God Himself, and now they were about to be judged for them.

[Nahum 3:4-7,14-15  Because of the multitude of the whoredoms of the wellfavoured harlot, the mistress of witchcrafts, that selleth nations through her whoredoms, and families through her witchcrafts.  5  Behold, I am against thee, saith the LORD of hosts; and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face, and I will shew the nations thy nakedness, and the kingdoms thy shame.  6  And I will cast abominable filth upon thee, and make thee vile, and will set thee as a gazingstock.  7  And it shall come to pass, that all they that look upon thee shall flee from thee, and say, Nineveh is laid waste: who will bemoan her? whence shall I seek comforters for thee? 14  Draw thee waters for the siege, fortify thy strong holds: go into clay, and tread the morter, make strong the brickkiln.  15  There shall the fire devour thee; the sword shall cut thee off, it shall eat thee up like the cankerworm: make thyself many as the cankerworm, make thyself many as the locusts.]

[and I will discover thy skirts upon thy face,] All sin gets exposed to the public. Proud sinners create enemies within themselves, and if God sees fit to expose their sin, no one will have compassion on them, and they will bring themselves to their own shame. Yes, salvation is by the grace of God, through our faith in Christ alone, but it is not a free pass to live in sin expecting God’s blessings and protection. As long as we are faithful, and repentant, God’s mercy will endure until He brings us home. We are to never take His mercies for granted, and live our remaining time on earth to do what is pleasing to Him. Are we always going to please Him? No. And we will face those trials and tribulation for it. Are we always going to suffer? No. And if we live our remaining time on earth being faithful to God, the suffering will be less, and His grace will suffice what we do face.

[Romans 6:8-13  Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:  9  Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.  10  For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.  11  Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.  12  Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.  13  Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for Your mercy and grace that saved a sinner like me when I trusted in Your Son as my Saviour. I know that I am forgiven of all my sins, past, present, and future because You no longer look at me through me, but through Your Son. You promise to never leave nor forsake me no matter what I do, and that I am saved forever no matter how many times I mess up. Lord, I do not want to sit idle, living anyway I please, without any regard for the great sacrifice You made to set me free from my sin. I want to be honorable and respectable in Your eyes, even if everyone else shuns me or mocks me for living to please Your. Lead me and guide me, give me Your power, strength, wisdom, mercy, grace, patience, and guidance to be the righteous instrument You need me to be so the lost can see You and be saved too. I ask this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
