Message: Kiss The Son
Hello My Friend,
First of all, yes, I know that we read Psalm 106 yesterday, but I felt like I did not get a chance, well, God said I did not, to address it properly, so, I have read it again. The reason I went back to it has to do with my prayer this morning, and God pointing out to me today that our nation, not just America, the Christian nation itself, has been backsliding for quite some time, and this Psalm is the perfect example. In fact, the more you study Israel’s history through God’s book the more you realize that history is repeating itself, but this time it is in every nation. I always say that America is a mirror of Israel, well, many others are too, and this pandemic is our wakeup call.
[Psalms 106:1-3,6-8 Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. 2 Who can utter the mighty acts of the LORD? who can shew forth all his praise? 3 Blessed are they that keep judgment, and he that doeth righteousness at all times. We have sinned with our fathers, we have committed iniquity, we have done wickedly. 7 Our fathers understood not thy wonders in Egypt; they remembered not the multitude of thy mercies; but provoked him at the sea, even at the Red sea. 8 Nevertheless he saved them for his name’s sake, that he might make his mighty power to be known.]
[We have sinned with our fathers,] There was a movement that started in the 1890’s, known as the Progressive Era, these were people who wanted to take a stand against both big government and big business that had too much power over the people. Some of it had good intentions, they pushed for reform, equal rights for all citizens, but it got out of hand when they began picking and choosing what those rights were, and who they actually applied to. A lot has changed over the years, and that movement has resurfaced into something of a nightmare, these people do not want less government, they want more, and they want to eliminate wealth all together except for the politicians. No, this is not a political message, this is a warning message from God, you see reform, does not happen with man, it happens with God, and those who delight in the Law of God.
[Psalms 1:1-6 Blessed is the man that walketh not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor standeth in the way of sinners, nor sitteth in the seat of the scornful. 2 But his delight is in the law of the LORD; and in his law doth he meditate day and night. 3 And he shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. 4 The ungodly are not so: but are like the chaff which the wind driveth away. 5 Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous. 6 For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish.]
[Therefore the ungodly shall not stand in the judgment,] There are two kinds of judgment, the first is for the saved, we will stand before Jesus and give an account to what we have done through Him since we got saved. While doing absolutely nothing for Him after we are saved will still give us immortality and a new life in His kingdom as we are not saved by our works, it will keep us from the blessings He has for us through our works, [Titus 3:8]. The second judgment is for the ungodly, those who never got saved, and you do not want this judgment, [Revelation 21:7-8 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.]
You do understand that Jesus Christ always has been, and the safety and prosperity of every nation has always rested on their faith in God. And those who were here before His passion may not have known it was Jesus Christ, but they knew He existed and that He would come in the flesh though David, where He will take the throne when He returns. God Himself gives several references to His Son being king.
[Psalms 2:6-12 Yet have I set my king upon my holy hill of Zion. 7 I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou art my Son; this day have I begotten thee. 8 Ask of me, and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the uttermost parts of the earth for thy possession. 9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter’s vessel. 10 Be wise now therefore, O ye kings: be instructed, ye judges of the earth. 11 Serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. 12 Kiss the Son, lest he be angry, and ye perish from the way, when his wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all they that put their trust in him.]
[and I shall give thee the heathen for thine inheritance,] We are Christ’s inheritance, the ones who are broken vessels, smashed to pieces from sin. He broke us with His mighty power of conviction when He gave His sinless body on the cross for our sin, and His spotless blood shed drop by drop to mend us, [Ephesians 1:9-12]. When God chose Israel to be His people He did not do it because of their great faith, He did it because on one man’s great faith, Abraham, their great, great, grandfather. Since God never goes back on a promise He went back on His promise to make a great nation out of Abraham’s seed. Out of all of his seed, he chose Jacob (Israel) to be His chosen people. God choosing them to be His people did not guarantee them salvation, but it did guarantee that they had a chance to know Him and choose Him. Thousands of them failed, Psalm 106 is a reminder of the constant rebellion of Israel, and why God often led them in the hands of their enemy.
[Psalms 106:29-31,33-34,37-41 Thus they provoked him to anger with their inventions: and the plague brake in upon them. 30 Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment: and so the plague was stayed. 31 And that was counted unto him for righteousness unto all generations for evermore. 33 Because they provoked his spirit, so that he spake unadvisedly with his lips. 37 Yea, they sacrificed their sons and their daughters unto devils, 38 And shed innocent blood, even the blood of their sons and of their daughters, whom they sacrificed unto the idols of Canaan: and the land was polluted with blood. 39 Thus were they defiled with their own works, and went a whoring with their own inventions. 40 Therefore was the wrath of the LORD kindled against his people, insomuch that he abhorred his own inheritance. 41 And he gave them into the hand of the heathen; and they that hated them ruled over them.]
[Then stood up Phinehas, and executed judgment:] Phinehas was a priest at that time, he stood up to the people who protested when God denied all the eldest Israelites entrance into the promised land, [Numbers 25:10-18]. We, who are saved have a responsibility to stand up to our faith, we are in this mess as a nation because of the, I’m sorry, spineless Christians who let the people run the church who. And yet, guess what? God is always faithful to protect His people when they call on Him. [Psalms 106:44-46 Nevertheless he regarded their affliction, when he heard their cry: 45 And he remembered for them his covenant, and repented according to the multitude of his mercies. 46 He made them also to be pitied of all those that carried them captives.]
[And he remembered for them his covenant,] Because we are stubborn and proud, and fail God more times than we care to count, God does not base our salvation on our own righteousness, rather Christ’s. Salvation has never been about works, because we have always fall short of getting to heaven by our works, it has always been about having faith in the Saviour, we just do it through Christ now instead of trying to fulfill the law, [Romans 8:3-4 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh: 4 That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.].
As many races, religions, cultures, and nations out there there are only two kinds of people, the children of God, and the children of men. Children of men are oblivious to the mercies and miracles of God, right in front of their own eyes. Oh, they may see something as it happened by chance or luck, but they never want to admit that God did it. I believe that God is still good to the children of men because there are still quite a few children of God standing up for Jesus, but that number is getting fewer, and this pandemic is evident of that. God knows how to take us out of a situation, even if that means He brings us home. Psalm 107 teaches us to praise God for His wisdom, power and goodness, even on the children of men. We are reminded of mans forgetfulness of His mercies, but also that it He is readily available when they call on Him.
[Psalms 107:1-12 O give thanks unto the LORD, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. 2 Let the redeemed of the LORD say so, whom he hath redeemed from the hand of the enemy; 3 And gathered them out of the lands, from the east, and from the west, from the north, and from the south. 4 They wandered in the wilderness in a solitary way; they found no city to dwell in. 5 Hungry and thirsty, their soul fainted in them. 6 Then they cried unto the LORD in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. 7 And he led them forth by the right way, that they might go to a city of habitation. 8 Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men! 9 For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness. 10 Such as sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, being bound in affliction and iron; 11 Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the most High: 12 Therefore he brought down their heart with labour; they fell down, and there was none to help.]
[Oh that men would praise the LORD for his goodness,] This verse is written four times in this Psalm, it is a reminder that God sends rain in the saved and unsaved. Why? In hopes that they will accept His Son. Does He know if they will accept Him? Of course, but that still does not stop Him from giving them a chance to get saved. No matter what we are going through, whether everything is going well or falling apart, we need to always praise God and thank Him for what He has gotten us through and what He is doing for us now, in doing so it might bring others to Him. God loves us and does not want to see us suffer, I imagine He would like it if He did not have to put any affliction on us at all, but sadly, affliction is the best way God can get people to come to Him, [II Corinthians 7:10-11 For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death. 11 For behold this selfsame thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly sort, what carefulness it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge! In all things ye have approved yourselves to be clear in this matter.]
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, I will never forget what You have done for me to not only save me from hell, but my life from what would seem like hell as well. My Lord, thank You for all you have done and for keeping me in Your life continually, if not for daily interaction with You I do not know where I would be. I know that I do not always tell You how grateful I am for what You have done for me and continue to do and I am sorry for that. Please do not let me lose sight of You, when things are going well, let me praise You and thank You just as much as I do when I am afflicted. Lead me and guide me, let me be the example that the lost need to find You, I need You Lord and love you, I am nothing without You. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
