Message: Kingdom of God

Hello My Friend,

The Kingdom of God is not some territory or country made up by man, then ruled by man, it is the place where every save, born again believer of Christ will be a part of, and Christ is their KING. The Kingdom of God did not exist until Christ’s passion, [Mark 1:14-15  Now after that John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,  15  And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.] The new Kingdom of God, the one that will be an actual physical place, will not come until Christ returns, [Mark 14:22-25  And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.  23  And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them: and they all drank of it.  24  And he said unto them, This is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many.  25  Verily I say unto you, I will drink no more of the fruit of the vine, until that day that I drink it new in the kingdom of God.]

Faith was no different today than it was in the days before Christ’s passion. They still needed salvation, knew it came solely from the LORD, and that their good works were certainly not going to save them. The Law was written to be our guide so that we do not die and end up in hell through ignorance. II Samuel also gives an account to David’s first attempt to have the Ark of the Covenant brought to Jerusalem, and what happened when they did not follow the Law of Moses, which they were unaware of.

[II Samuel 6:1-4,6-7  Again, David gathered together all the chosen men of Israel, thirty thousand.  2  And David arose, and went with all the people that were with him from Baale of Judah, to bring up from thence the ark of God, whose name is called by the name of the LORD of hosts that dwelleth between the cherubims.  3  And they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart.  4  And they brought it out of the house of Abinadab which was at Gibeah, accompanying the ark of God: and Ahio went before the ark. 6  And when they came to Nachon’s threshingfloor, Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it.  7  And the anger of the LORD was kindled against Uzzah; and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God.]

[and God smote him there for his error;] This is where we learn why God struck him, even though he was a Levite, he, in fact, none of them, were sanctified. Regardless of who touched it that day, God would have struck them because in order for us to be able to stand before God and live, we need our sins to be removed. Today, only Jesus can remove our sin, [Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.]

Well, three months had passed, David learned the proper way to get the Ark moved, he, the priests, and many others gathered in the streets, dancing and singing praises to God as they followed the Ark into Jerusalem. Micah, Saul’s daughter, who once loved David, and was his first wife, now despised David.

[II Samuel 6:13,16,20-22  And it was so, that when they that bare the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed oxen and fatlings. 16  And as the ark of the LORD came into the city of David, Michal Saul’s daughter looked through a window, and saw king David leaping and dancing before the LORD; and she despised him in her heart. 20  Then David returned to bless his household. And Michal the daughter of Saul came out to meet David, and said, How glorious was the king of Israel to day, who uncovered himself to day in the eyes of the handmaids of his servants, as one of the vain fellows shamelessly uncovereth himself!  21  And David said unto Michal, It was before the LORD, which chose me before thy father, and before all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel: therefore will I play before the LORD.  22  And I will yet be more vile than thus, and will be base in mine own sight: and of the maidservants which thou hast spoken of, of them shall I be had in honour.]

[and she despised him in her heart.] Remember, Michal was David’s first wife, she was taken from him when Saul had his melt down and given her to another man, he retrieved her when he became king of Israel, and this had been years later, [I Samuel 25:44] [had no child unto the day of her death.] Her bitterness got the best of her, and for that God took away her ability to have any more children. If we are going to despise someone because we are not where we want to be in life, then God will take more of the things that matter to us, [I Corinthians 3:14-17  If any man’s work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward.  15  If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.  16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  17  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.]

David was by far a perfect man, but he did have one thing going for him, He had the favor of God. He believed every word He told him. He did not always consult God, he did get discouraged sometimes, and he did sin, as we all do, but he loved God with all his heart, and never hesitated to tell Him that. When David went through all the trouble to get the Ark closer to him, he did not stop there, he wanted to build a house for God.

[II Samuel 7:1-5.8-9  And it came to pass, when the king sat in his house, and the LORD had given him rest round about from all his enemies;  2  That the king said unto Nathan the prophet, See now, I dwell in an house of cedar, but the ark of God dwelleth within curtains.  3  And Nathan said to the king, Go, do all that is in thine heart; for the LORD is with thee.  4  And it came to pass that night, that the word of the LORD came unto Nathan, saying,  5  Go and tell my servant David, Thus saith the LORD, Shalt thou build me an house for me to dwell in? 8  Now therefore so shalt thou say unto my servant David, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, I took thee from the sheepcote, from following the sheep, to be ruler over my people, over Israel:  9  And I was with thee whithersoever thou wentest, and have cut off all thine enemies out of thy sight, and have made thee a great name, like unto the name of the great men that are in the earth.]

[Go, do all that is in thine heart;] This is where we have to think how God thinks, we are all sinners, and whether it is one act of disobedience or ten thousand, it comes with the same punishment, death and hell. This is not God being mean, this is Him being the righteous and just God that He is, and knowing that He is really more merciful than we think. The earth would be toast right now if it were not for His mercy. Amen! While David’s heart was set on building a temple for God to dwell, God did not want him to build a house for Him. In fact, God wanted to build an entire kingdom through his family.

[II Samuel 7:10-15  Moreover I will appoint a place for my people Israel, and will plant them, that they may dwell in a place of their own, and move no more; neither shall the children of wickedness afflict them any more, as beforetime,  11  And as since the time that I commanded judges to be over my people Israel, and have caused thee to rest from all thine enemies. Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.  12  And when thy days be fulfilled, and thou shalt sleep with thy fathers, I will set up thy seed after thee, which shall proceed out of thy bowels, and I will establish his kingdom.  13  He shall build an house for my name, and I will stablish the throne of his kingdom for ever.  14  I will be his father, and he shall be my son. If he commit iniquity, I will chasten him with the rod of men, and with the stripes of the children of men:  15  But my mercy shall not depart away from him, as I took it from Saul, whom I put away before thee.]

[Also the LORD telleth thee that he will make thee an house.] This is the kingdom that every saved, born again Christian will dwell in, a place of our very own, it will never be moved and we will never see evil ever again, the Kingdom of God, [Revelation 21:4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.] [and I will establish his kingdom.] While some of this is in reference to Solomon, who would build the first temple, most of this has to do with Christ, who would come in the flesh through David’s seed, and establish His throne in the Kingdom of God forever, [Luke 1:32-33  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:  33  And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.]

[But my mercy shall not depart away from him,] The mercies of God ran out for Saul, his seed went extinct when he rejected God, and allowed Satan to control him in all his pride and jealousy, but the seed of David remained until the incarnation of Jesus. While Joseph was not Jesus father, he and Mary were both of the family of David, which meant that Jesus was the only heir left to the kingdom of Israel, but He did not sit on the secular throne as many thought would happen yet, he ascended to heaven, and is sitting on the spiritual throne, at the right hand of the Father. Why was God forever merciful in keeping David’s seed alive while He was not with Saul? Remember, God looks on the heart, while David was not sinless, he was faithful to God. David, filled with awe, wonders why God chose him, then praises Him for being the great God that He is.

[II Samuel 7:18-22,25-26,29  Then went king David in, and sat before the LORD, and he said, Who am I, O Lord GOD? and what is my house, that thou hast brought me hitherto?  19  And this was yet a small thing in thy sight, O Lord GOD; but thou hast spoken also of thy servant’s house for a great while to come. And is this the manner of man, O Lord GOD?  20  And what can David say more unto thee? for thou, Lord GOD, knowest thy servant.  21  For thy word’s sake, and according to thine own heart, hast thou done all these great things, to make thy servant know them.  22  Wherefore thou art great, O LORD God: for there is none like thee, neither is there any God beside thee, according to all that we have heard with our ears. 25  And now, O LORD God, the word that thou hast spoken concerning thy servant, and concerning his house, establish it for ever, and do as thou hast said.  26  And let thy name be magnified for ever, saying, The LORD of hosts is the God over Israel: and let the house of thy servant David be established before thee. 29  Therefore now let it please thee to bless the house of thy servant, that it may continue for ever before thee: for thou, O Lord GOD, hast spoken it: and with thy blessing let the house of thy servant be blessed for ever.]

[Who am I, O Lord GOD?] We are all born the knowledge of God from birth, it is influences and false teaching that takes man away from the truth and into false religion, and or rejection of God all together, [Romans 1:18-32]. Once we discover that we truly are sinners saved by grace, and God has a purpose far greater than anything we imagined, we tend to become overwhelmed by God’s mercies and blessings. David wrote this prayer, shortly after Nathan told him God’s plans for him

[Psalms 132:1-5,9-14  A Song of degrees. LORD, remember David, and all his afflictions:  2  How he sware unto the LORD, and vowed unto the mighty God of Jacob;  3  Surely I will not come into the tabernacle of my house, nor go up into my bed;  4  I will not give sleep to mine eyes, or slumber to mine eyelids,  5  Until I find out a place for the LORD, an habitation for the mighty God of Jacob. 9  Let thy priests be clothed with righteousness; and let thy saints shout for joy.  10  For thy servant David’s sake turn not away the face of thine anointed.  11  The LORD hath sworn in truth unto David; he will not turn from it; Of the fruit of thy body will I set upon thy throne.  12  If thy children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon thy throne for evermore.  13  For the LORD hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation.  14  This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it.]

[For the LORD hath chosen Zion;] We did not choose God first, He chose us, and since He chose us He is going to do what He pleases with us. If we are faithful and obedient to Him we can expect great blessings, but if we are not, we can expect chastening. You see, since we are His chosen, He will not have us behaving like the world does, and He will do whatever it takes to get us to see that His way is the only way. While we will never be perfect until we get to heaven, we can be perfect in Christ by living in a way that pleases Him until we get to heaven, [Titus 3:5-9  Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;  6  Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour;  7  That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.  8  This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men.  9  But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [II Samuel 7:16  And thine house and thy kingdom shall be established for ever before thee: thy throne shall be established for ever.]

Today’s Prayer: God, On any given day we should be able to stop, look at the life we have now and see how far we have come since we came to know Your Son as our Saviour. Thank You for Your grace, You love me unconditionally, no matter how many times I mess up. It is not so easy to see the blessings if we are facing difficulties or have not had a chance to get to know You like we should, but with a little prayer, studying of Your Word, and applying it to our lives it can be done. Lord, my heart is willing, but I often let circumstances in life hinder me from following through with what You will have me to do. Lead me and guide me, help me to see beyond my circumstances, to remember that Your grace is sufficient, and to keep looking onto You, who will see me through and bless me for enduring them all by my faith and trust in You, who will supply all my needs. I ask this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
