Study: Keep Your Eyes on Jesus

Hello My Friend,

Yesterday was my first Wednesday off since I started my new job, I was excited that I could go to church. I did not have the best day as my body is adjusting to my new diet as I found out that my stomach issues is a result of food that is labeled as being bioengineered. I placed an order to have it delivered to my house, but then there was a delay in the delivery, some of the items needed to be refrigerated right away so, I stayed home. I felt terrible, but was still able to watch church where my nephew goes to college, and realized that it was a message that I needed to hear. And as I read the chapters for today, this passage came to mind.

[John 15:13-16  Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.  14  Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you.  15  Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doeth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father I have made known unto you.  16  Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.]

[if ye do whatsoever I command you.] Our salvation is dependent upon one thing alone, our faith in the Gospel of Christ. It does not matter how much we give in tithes, offerings, or our own time, unless we have accepted that Christ, born of a virgin, died a sinless death on the cross, was buried in a tomb, and arose three days later, and that alone is what saves us, then there is no salvation. Period! You see, there is a reason why there are billions of people who walk this earth and have no clue who Jesus is, they have rejected God, and therefore He does not reveal who He is. Jesus never denies anyone, that is unless they deny Him. As we return to the reading of Psalms, we are reminded that before we found Christ, He is the one who approached us first.

[Psalms 65:1-4  To the chief Musician, A Psalm and Song of David. Praise waiteth for thee, O God, in Sion: and unto thee shall the vow be performed.  2  O thou that hearest prayer, unto thee shall all flesh come.  3  Iniquities prevail against me: as for our transgressions, thou shalt purge them away.  4  Blessed is the man whom thou choosest, and causest to approach unto thee, that he may dwell in thy courts: we shall be satisfied with the goodness of thy house, even of thy holy temple.]

[and causest to approach unto thee,] Can you see how Jesus is right in front of the worlds face right now, and how blind they are? We tend to think that these people are nuts, here they are trying to eliminate cows, gas powered vehicles, and coal in their attempt to save the world, and yet are quick to kill babies as soon as they come out of the womb. And Jesus knows exactly who they are, [Matthew 13:15-16  For this people’s heart is waxed gross, and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and should understand with their heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.  16  But blessed are your eyes, for they see: and your ears, for they hear.]

Do not let them fool you, even those who say they do not believe in God know that He exists, they just reject Him, and it usually has to do with some sin or some tragedy that they faced and are bitter. There is a reason why God reveals Himself through affliction first, it is to bring us to the point that we seek answers and find that He alone is the answer. As for those who down right reject Him, He does not waste His time with them unless they start acknowledging Him. The reason why He does not waste His time with them is because He has His true believers to tend to, and it case you have not noticed, He has His hands full with us. So, let’s just praise the LORD, for all His goodness and long suffering in that He does not give up on us.

[Psalms 66:1-7  To the chief Musician, A Song or Psalm. Make a joyful noise unto God, all ye lands:  2  Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.  3  Say unto God, How terrible art thou in thy works! through the greatness of thy power shall thine enemies submit themselves unto thee.  4  All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name. Selah.  5  Come and see the works of God: he is terrible in his doing toward the children of men.  6  He turned the sea into dry land: they went through the flood on foot: there did we rejoice in him.  7  He ruleth by his power for ever; his eyes behold the nations: let not the rebellious exalt themselves. Selah.]

[How terrible art thou in thy works!] Terrible meaning; [to fear, be awed, reverence, honor, respect to stand in awe of,] Believe it or not, but God sends the rain on the just and unjust, meaning He blesses even the unsaved, and sometimes, even more than the saved, in His effort to open their eyes to seeing Him. Sadly, many, many, many, do not, and they will die and end up in hell because of their blindness. And that includes those who think they know who God is by fearing their religion over Him. Jesus actually said to those who are trusting in their religion over Him, [Matthew 15:14  Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.]

What is worse than those who reject God? It is those who believe in Him, but choose to believe their lying religion over the truth of the Gospel. Do these fools who pretend to know who Jesus is actually think that they are saved? Unfortunately, they do, and it will be to their own death and hell. This Psalm goes on to remind us that those who do fear God in His truth, have been proved of their faith by God Himself.

[Psalms 66:8-12,16-20  O bless our God, ye people, and make the voice of his praise to be heard:  9  Which holdeth our soul in life, and suffereth not our feet to be moved.  10  For thou, O God, hast proved us: thou hast tried us, as silver is tried.  11  Thou broughtest us into the net; thou laidst affliction upon our loins.  12  Thou hast caused men to ride over our heads; we went through fire and through water: but thou broughtest us out into a wealthy place. 16  Come and hear, all ye that fear God, and I will declare what he hath done for my soul.  17  I cried unto him with my mouth, and he was extolled with my tongue.  18  If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:  19  But verily God hath heard me; he hath attended to the voice of my prayer.  20  Blessed be God, which hath not turned away my prayer, nor his mercy from me.]

[and suffereth not our feet to be moved.] And this is why I believe that no true believer will ever fall turn from their faith. [If I regard iniquity in my heart,] We are very capable of falling into sin, and God will not hear our prayers if we are insincere or unrepentant, but He does not let go of us because of the covenant that we made with His Son, [John 10:28-30  And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.  29  My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father’s hand.  30  I and my Father are one.]

Naturally, and quite logically, if we are living in sin and unrepentant about it, we can expect that God will let us deal with our affliction on our own until we are repentant. God will not be mocked, His mercy is endless for those whom have accepted Christ, but He will not continue to watch us living in sin with no desire to remove it. However, God will always hear our sincere prayers, [Psalms 67:1-4  To the chief Musician on Neginoth, A Psalm or Song. God be merciful unto us, and bless us; and cause his face to shine upon us; Selah.  2  That thy way may be known upon earth, thy saving health among all nations.  3  Let the people praise thee, O God; let all the people praise thee.  4  O let the nations be glad and sing for joy: for thou shalt judge the people righteously, and govern the nations upon earth. Selah.]

[thy saving health among all nations.] Do you want to see this nation return to being the powerful nation that it once was? Repent! You say that you are repentant and do not need to repent, [1 John 1:8-10  If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.  9  If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.  10  If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.]

We all have something that we need to repent of, not every day, but we still are sinners. Then we are to pray for those who are not repentant, and be not afraid to teach the truth to them. We are also to pray for our government leaders, corrupt politicians, and judges, and the lost, and in due time, God will, hopefully, save our nation. Remember, we are sinners by nature, even when we think we have done nothing wrong, we need to constantly confess our sin, even if all we do is ask God to show us our sin.

[Psalms 69:1-3,5-7,10,13  To the chief Musician upon Shoshannim, A Psalm of David. Save me, O God; for the waters are come in unto my soul.  2  I sink in deep mire, where there is no standing: I am come into deep waters, where the floods overflow me.  3  I am weary of my crying: my throat is dried: mine eyes fail while I wait for my God. 5  O God, thou knowest my foolishness; and my sins are not hid from thee.  6  Let not them that wait on thee, O Lord GOD of hosts, be ashamed for my sake: let not those that seek thee be confounded for my sake, O God of Israel.  7  Because for thy sake I have borne reproach; shame hath covered my face. 10  When I wept, and chastened my soul with fasting, that was to my reproach. 13  But as for me, my prayer is unto thee, O LORD, in an acceptable time: O God, in the multitude of thy mercy hear me, in the truth of thy salvation.]

[in an acceptable time:] Right now, God is proving all His nations, and I tell you what, it is big fail for all of them. How do I know? Covid has not backed off, and now, we have the bird flu, not mention food shortages. I take phone call upon phone call from people who are suffering with diseases that have not been around for decades. God is trying to get through to all of these false religions and open their eyes to see that they are all sending them to hell. As for the reprobates, they will surely die in their sin. Regardless of the time that we are in, there is no room for ignorance nor is their room for believing in something that is not true. We find within this Psalm that Jesus speaking as He is hanging on the cross.

[Psalms 69:20-28  Reproach hath broken my heart; and I am full of heaviness: and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none; and for comforters, but I found none.  21  They gave me also gall for my meat; and in my thirst they gave me vinegar to drink.  22  Let their table become a snare before them: and that which should have been for their welfare, let it become a trap.  23  Let their eyes be darkened, that they see not; and make their loins continually to shake.  24  Pour out thine indignation upon them, and let thy wrathful anger take hold of them.  25  Let their habitation be desolate; and let none dwell in their tents.  26  For they persecute him whom thou hast smitten; and they talk to the grief of those whom thou hast wounded.  27  Add iniquity unto their iniquity: and let them not come into thy righteousness. 28  Let them be blotted out of the book of the living, and not be written with the righteous.]

[and I looked for some to take pity, but there was none;] This is in reference to the people passing by, mocking Him and shaking their heads at Him. The very last thing they did before He died was try to give Him vinegar to drink, [John 19:29-30  Now there was set a vessel full of vinegar: and they filled a spunge with vinegar, and put it upon hyssop, and put it to his mouth.  30  When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.]. Vinegar, is made from grapes, had Jesus gotten one drop of that in His mouth, it would have defiled Him. It was just at that moment that He died, even the men finally saw that He is the Son of God, [Mark 15:39  And when the centurion, which stood over against him, saw that he so cried out, and gave up the ghost, he said, Truly this man was the Son of God.]

[Let them be blotted out of the book of the living,] Well, this is actually David speaking here, Jesus actually asked for God to forgive them, [Luke 23:33-34  And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.  34  Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.]. Nevertheless, if those whom have not accepted the truth of the Gospel and are trusting in their religion or themselves to save them, then their names will not be written in the lambs Book of life, [Revelation 3:5  He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.]

I do not care who you are or what you have gone through, there is no excuse for saved, born again Christians, to continue living in sin. It is one thing to not know any better, it is another to learn of the truth, and ignore it, [James 4:14-17  Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away.  15  For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that.  16  But now ye rejoice in your boastings: all such rejoicing is evil.  17  Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.]

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, Thank You, for taking my place on the cross, I surely know that without Your sacrificing Your own life, I would not be able to survive not only this world, but what would come after I left. You, are my salvation, I am nothing without You and with each passing year that I walk with You since I accepted You as my Saviour and dedicated my life to You, I understand even more why I am saved by grace. You, promise that my feet will never fall and that You will never pluck me out of Your hand, even if I did fall into sin. You mercy and grace surely stands as I humble myself to Your, confessing my sin, and turning from them as I learn of them. And none of this is possible without You. Lord, Lead me and guide me, keep my eyes open and also my heart tender and let me keep the mind of David, who never failed to remind himself that we need You every day. I love You, LORD, and ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
