Message: Isaiah/II Chronicles: The Sign of Immanuel

Hello My Friend,

As we continue in the reading of Isaiah and return to the reading of II Chronicles, we learn that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever, He is slow to anger, merciful and will save the most ruthless person if they would only repent. We also learn of the incredible prophecy of when Christ would come into the world in the flesh. God, is not a respecter of persons, we will all stand before Jesus and give an account for the life we lived in the flesh.

[Romans 2:9-12,16  Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;  10  But glory, honour, and peace, to every man that worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile:  11  For there is no respect of persons with God.  12  For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law; 16  In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.]

When God sent Isaiah to the people of Judah to warn them of the coming judgment, he lived through the passing of the throne of four kings during a time as he slowly saw the Southern Kingdom inching its way into becoming something worse than the Northern Kingdom, but was not quite there yet. If they had any sense about them they would have understood that this was God giving them ample time to get their act together. God, refers to Israel as His vineyard, one that has produced wild grapes and has gone out of control. God, sends Isaiah to Judah to warn them of how wild they have become.

[Isaiah 5:1-5  Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill:  2  And he fenced it, and gathered out the stones thereof, and planted it with the choicest vine, and built a tower in the midst of it, and also made a winepress therein: and he looked that it should bring forth grapes, and it brought forth wild grapes.  3  And now, O inhabitants of Jerusalem, and men of Judah, judge, I pray you, betwixt me and my vineyard.  4  What could have been done more to my vineyard, that I have not done in it? wherefore, when I looked that it should bring forth grapes, brought it forth wild grapes?  5  And now go to; I will tell you what I will do to my vineyard: I will take away the hedge thereof, and it shall be eaten up; and break down the wall thereof, and it shall be trodden down:]

I believe Jesus said it this way, [John 15:4-6  Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me.  5  I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.  6  If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.]

God, is very kind, merciful, slow to anger, and gracious, but He is also a just God and will not allow us to take our salvation for granted. All saved, born again Christians are here for one reason and that is to lead others to Christ before He takes all of us out of here because the judgment coming will be much worse than catastrophic storms like we have never seen and civil wars. We as Christians have the power to turn things around in our nations, but it all begins with the Church and let me tell you, God is angry with the Church right now, which He explains.

[Isaiah 5:7-12  For the vineyard of the LORD of hosts is the house of Israel, and the men of Judah his pleasant plant: and he looked for judgment, but behold oppression; for righteousness, but behold a cry.  8  Woe unto them that join house to house, that lay field to field, till there be no place, that they may be placed alone in the midst of the earth!  9  In mine ears said the LORD of hosts, Of a truth many houses shall be desolate, even great and fair, without inhabitant.  10  Yea, ten acres of vineyard shall yield one bath, and the seed of an homer shall yield an ephah.  11  Woe unto them that rise up early in the morning, that they may follow strong drink; that continue until night, till wine inflame them!  12  And the harp, and the viol, the tabret, and pipe, and wine, are in their feasts: but they regard not the work of the LORD, neither consider the operation of his hands.]

I am not going to lie, in the past few years I have been a member of five churches, one became dictators, one thought their family ran the church and overruled the pastor, one allowed evil spirits into the church, one only seen you as a number, but praise God the one we are at now is more in line with the Bible. There are so many people lost, including saved, born again Christians who lost their way, and are actually looking for some kind of hope and comfort from all the mess and yet the churches are becoming something of a mess themselves and God is quite angry with them.

[Isaiah 5:13-16  Therefore my people are gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge: and their honourable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.  14  Therefore hell hath enlarged herself, and opened her mouth without measure: and their glory, and their multitude, and their pomp, and he that rejoiceth, shall descend into it.  15  And the mean man shall be brought down, and the mighty man shall be humbled, and the eyes of the lofty shall be humbled:  16  But the LORD of hosts shall be exalted in judgment, and God that is holy shall be sanctified in righteousness.]

Think about it, how many people are in hell right now because they trusted in their religion instead of Christ to save them from hell? What is even worse is the fact that many saved, born again Christians we living it up in their sin and not telling anyone how they can be saved. The LORD of hosts, Jesus Christ Himself, will be exalted in righteous judgment, He actually tells us that He was sanctified through His sacrifice so that those who believe in and receive Him will be sanctified, [John 17:17-19  Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.  18  As thou hast sent me into the world, even so have I also sent them into the world.  19  And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.]

Sometimes it seems as though we read the same passages over and over again, especially when reading about His judgments. I imagine it is just God trying to get it through our heads that judgment is coming to our nations, but it is first coming to His Church. Why? Way too many leaders are leading His sheep in the wrong direction. Isaiah, goes on to describe what they are doing that is so sinful, and it is not what you think.

[Isaiah 5:18-23  Woe unto them that draw iniquity with cords of vanity, and sin as it were with a cart rope:  19  That say, Let him make speed, and hasten his work, that we may see it: and let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel draw nigh and come, that we may know it!  20  Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!  21  Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight!  22  Woe unto them that are mighty to drink wine, and men of strength to mingle strong drink:  23  Which justify the wicked for reward, and take away the righteousness of the righteous from him!]

In other words, they are testing God to see if He will do what He says. They are no different then those who watched Jesus hanging from the cross and said they would only believe in Him if He came down from the cross. Jesus, said this to Nicodemus when he questioned how someone can be born again, [John 3:11-15  Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.  12  If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things?  13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.  14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:  15  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.]

Christians, are great at receiving Christ, they are just not so great at getting in His Word and studying it after receiving Him. Those who are ignorant to their sin are relying on secular churches, TV evangelists, and friends to tell them what the Bible says and means instead of reading it for themselves. Sadly, they are being taught that their sin is justified by their salvation, and that there is no consequence, but make no mistake, God will never condone unrepentant sin. God, pleads with His people every day to get the sin out that causes so much pain in their lives. Now, through Isaiah, God, gives him an amazing vision of a heavenly throne, one in which brought great conviction to him.

[Isaiah 6:1-5  In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.  2  Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.  3  And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the LORD of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.  4  And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.  5  Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the LORD of hosts.]

No one can stand before God on their own and live because they are covered in the filth of their sin and even on a good day our lips get us into more trouble than we care to admit. That hs where the KING, LORD of hosts, Jesus Christ Himself comes in. One of those angels took a live coal from off the altar and placed it in his mouth.

[Isaiah 6:6-9  Then flew one of the seraphims unto me, having a live coal in his hand, which he had taken with the tongs from off the altar:  7  And he laid it upon my mouth, and said, Lo, this hath touched thy lips; and thine iniquity is taken away, and thy sin purged.  8  Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.  9  And he said, Go, and tell this people, Hear ye indeed, but understand not; and see ye indeed, but perceive not.]

Amazingly, just like the angel that laid the coal from the altar upon Isaiah’s mouth and purged his sin Jesus does for every soul who receives Him as their Saviour. The second we receive Him as our Saviour, the flaming fire of the Holy Spirit comes down upon our soul, [Acts 2:3-4  And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them.  4  And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.]

Now, we do not actually see little specks of fire come down from heaven when we receive Christ as our Saviour, but we do feel His Spirit almost immediately in us the second we do. It is the Holy Spirit who touches our mouths and not only helps us understand the Bible, but how to speak to God, [Romans 8:26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.]

So, here is the scenario in Jerusalem during Isaiah’s time, he prophesied during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah. If you recall, Isaiah conferred with Uzziah, who was a godly king until he ran into the temple, unclean, and tried to burn incense, but became leprous, [2 Chronicles 26:16  But when he was strong, his heart was lifted up to his destruction: for he transgressed against the LORD his God, and went into the temple of the LORD to burn incense upon the altar of incense.]

At this point, the city was prosperous, and bountiful, but full of sin, even if the king had been Godly, he was not strong enough to remove all of the wicked devices used to entice the people in their sin. II Chronicles, also gives the account of Jotham, Uzziah’s son, had to take over as king, and was a Godly king as far as his father was in the beginning, but the people were still corrupt.

[2 Chronicles 27:1-4,6  Jotham was twenty and five years old when he began to reign, and he reigned sixteen years in Jerusalem. His mother’s name also was Jerushah, the daughter of Zadok.  2  And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, according to all that his father Uzziah did: howbeit he entered not into the temple of the LORD. And the people did yet corruptly.  3  He built the high gate of the house of the LORD, and on the wall of Ophel he built much.  4  Moreover he built cities in the mountains of Judah, and in the forests he built castles and towers. 6  So Jotham became mighty, because he prepared his ways before the LORD his God.]

Our ways are not God’s ways, they never have been and never will be. The key to Jotham’s success was not that he was perfect, it was because he did everything knowing that the LORD was his God. Now we come to Ahaz, and he was no godly king at all, in fact, he even set up an altar for a strange god in temple. However, God still protected them. Now, they are at war with Israel, God sends Isaiah to let him know that God was with him.

[Isaiah 7:1,3-4,7,9  And it came to pass in the days of Ahaz the son of Jotham, the son of Uzziah, king of Judah, that Rezin the king of Syria, and Pekah the son of Remaliah, king of Israel, went up toward Jerusalem to war against it, but could not prevail against it.  3  Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-jashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;  4  And say unto him, Take heed, and be quiet; fear not, neither be fainthearted for the two tails of these smoking firebrands, for the fierce anger of Rezin with Syria, and of the son of Remaliah. 7  Thus saith the Lord GOD, It shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass. 9  And the head of Ephraim is Samaria, and the head of Samaria is Remaliah’s son. If ye will not believe, surely ye shall not be established.]

Sometimes, God needs to tell us to just be quiet and listen for what He is telling us to do, but the key to hearing what He is saying all lies in with our faith. Jesus, said this when asked why He speaks in parables, [Matthew 13:11-13  He answered and said unto them, Because it is given unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.  12  For whosoever hath, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever hath not, from him shall be taken away even that he hath.  13  Therefore speak I to them in parables: because they seeing see not; and hearing they hear not, neither do they understand.]

It is really sad that most Jews refuse to acknowledge Jesus as the Christ yet it is all right here in the Scriptures. We should know by now, that God does not look at us through our own flesh, but through our heart, in particular our faith. Through Isaiah, God foretells of the amazing prophecy in which Jesus Himself would come here through the flesh as one of us.

[Isaiah 7:11-16  Ask thee a sign of the LORD thy God; ask it either in the depth, or in the height above.  12  But Ahaz said, I will not ask, neither will I tempt the LORD.  13  And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?  14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.  15  Butter and honey shall he eat, that he may know to refuse the evil, and choose the good.  16  For before the child shall know to refuse the evil, and choose the good, the land that thou abhorrest shall be forsaken of both her kings.]

People of the world do not want to hear the truth, and quite frankly, many who do get saved do not want to either. This is why they will not ask nor want anyone telling them. However, ignoring the truth never does anyone any good, it will come to pass regardless, [Acts 17:30-31  And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:  31  Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.]

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, It still amazes me that You went through so much pain to save me and only my simple faith and trust in Your finished work is all I need to be saved from my sins. I have Your seal, Your blood in me and when I think of where I would be if I died before I knew the truth, I cringe. Lord, I want to live my life as a Godly example, one in which You shine through me every day, so, give me Your power, strength, and wisdom to glorify You. Use me to be a witness to the lost, and help me to be bold enough to tell all how they can know You. I pray this in Your name Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
