Message: I Know Thee By Name

Hello My Friend,

As I was reading the chapters for today I could not help, but think about what Jesus said about His sheep. You know, so many people doubt the trinity of God, they believe there is no way that God can be in the persons of, the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, and yet one God. Well, they are fools if they think that one, God is not capable of being all three, and two, that there is no evidence from the Bible showing that He is One living and almighty God in the form of three persons. Well, those who believe that garbage do not know my God, for He is, I AM THAT I AM, Jehovah is His name, and He does not let His name be known to all. It only lets it be known to the ones that He knows by name. [John 10:14-16,27  I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.  15  As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.  16  And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd. 27  My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:]

If you ever wondered why out of all the people in the world that God is only known to the Jew or the Christian, well, here is the answer. The majority of people, even if they are aware of God are stiffnecked, meaning their faith is only as far as they can see with their eyes. They want Him in their lives as long as, and Jesus puts it like this, being fed, but are quick to bail or seek other gods, when challenges come. Yesterday, we read how the people influenced Aaron to create a god for them because they got tired of waiting for Moses to come down from the mountain. Now, after all that came to pass, God spoke with Moses, and gave him some rather somber news.

[Exodus 33:1-2,5,7  And the LORD said unto Moses, Depart, and go up hence, thou and the people which thou hast brought up out of the land of Egypt, unto the land which I sware unto Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, saying, Unto thy seed will I give it:  2  And I will send an angel before thee; and I will drive out the Canaanite, the Amorite, and the Hittite, and the Perizzite, the Hivite, and the Jebusite:  4  And when the people heard these evil tidings, they mourned: and no man did put on him his ornaments.  5  For the LORD had said unto Moses, Say unto the children of Israel, Ye are a stiffnecked people: I will come up into the midst of thee in a moment, and consume thee: therefore now put off thy ornaments from thee, that I may know what to do unto thee.   7  And Moses took the tabernacle, and pitched it without the camp, afar off from the camp, and called it the Tabernacle of the congregation. And it came to pass, that every one which sought the LORD went out unto the tabernacle of the congregation, which was without the camp.]

[for I will not go up in the midst of thee;] How would if God Himself told you, “I will not be with you because you are stubborn, sell willed, and rebellious.”? God would no longer be right there in the midst of them, if they wanted to commune with Him, they needed to go to Him. This is why Jesus will not force Himself on anyone, if we want Him in our lives we must come to Him willingly, [Romans 10:9-10]. The angel God is sending before them is not Jesus this time, God was furious with them because of what they had done, but He made a promise that He intended to keep. If we are honest with ourselves, we have been all guilty of being stiffnecked in some form a time or two, but God gave us a promise that He intends to fulfill, eternal life though our faith in His Son. [Romans 6:23  For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.]

Eternal life is definitely a gift from God, and it always has been, even before Christ came here in the flesh of man and gave His life, eternal life could never be bought, and it certainly could not be earned for we all come short of that. Let me tell you, each day that goes by, especially this past year, I have learned just how merciful, gracious, and longsuffering God is toward His people. And as I said earlier, God knows who His people are, as Moses pleads with God once again not to destroy them, God responds.

[Exodus 33:9,11-13,17,19  And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.  11  And the LORD spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.  12  And Moses said unto the LORD, See, thou sayest unto me, Bring up this people: and thou hast not let me know whom thou wilt send with me. Yet thou hast said, I know thee by name, and thou hast also found grace in my sight.  13  Now therefore, I pray thee, if I have found grace in thy sight, shew me now thy way, that I may know thee, that I may find grace in thy sight: and consider that this nation is thy people. 17  And the LORD said unto Moses, I will do this thing also that thou hast spoken: for thou hast found grace in my sight, and I know thee by name. 19  And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.]

[and I know thee by name.] God knows each and every one of His people by name, and it is through us that He proclaims His name. God will never send us anywhere by ourselves, He is always with His people, and His mercy and grace are only given to those who He chooses. Now, God commands Moses to make two new slabs of stone like the ones He made that were broken, and bring them up to Mount Sinai, where He did proclaim His name.

[Exodus 34:1,4-6,10  And the LORD said unto Moses, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first: and I will write upon these tables the words that were in the first tables, which thou brakest. 4  And he hewed two tables of stone like unto the first; and Moses rose up early in the morning, and went up unto mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him, and took in his hand the two tables of stone.  5  And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.  6  And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, 10  And he said, Behold, I make a covenant: before all thy people I will do marvels, such as have not been done in all the earth, nor in any nation: and all the people among which thou art shall see the work of the LORD: for it is a terrible thing that I will do with thee.]

[And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there,] If this does not prove that God is Triune, then people are just blind and have no faith in God whatsoever. [and proclaimed the name of the LORD.] You do know who God is talking about here, correct? It is His Son, of course. God is not being conceded here, He is well pleased with the person of His Son. [Matthew 3:16-17  And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:  17  And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.]

[Behold, I make a covenant:] God reconfirms His promise to them. God never goes back on His promise, but this time, it was not going to be with the entire congregation, it would only be for those He knows by name.

[Exodus 34:12,14,27,29-30,35  Take heed to thyself, lest thou make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land whither thou goest, lest it be for a snare in the midst of thee: 14  For thou shalt worship no other god: for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God: 27  And the LORD said unto Moses, Write thou these words: for after the tenor of these words I have made a covenant with thee and with Israel.  29  And it came to pass, when Moses came down from mount Sinai with the two tables of testimony in Moses’ hand, when he came down from the mount, that Moses wist not that the skin of his face shone while he talked with him.  30  And when Aaron and all the children of Israel saw Moses, behold, the skin of his face shone; and they were afraid to come nigh him. 35  And the children of Israel saw the face of Moses, that the skin of Moses’ face shone: and Moses put the vail upon his face again, until he went in to speak with him.]

[whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God:] There is only one God, and He is a jealous God, all the rest are man made, and including those that act like they know who He is. Sometimes, all it takes is a little fear for people to see that God is true, and serious about what He says, and once they do, they willingly want to follow His commands and serve Him as He calls them. Moses came back down and told the congregation God’s plan, and for the first time since they left Egypt they willingly began doing exactly what God instructed.

[Exodus 35:4-5,10,21-22  And Moses spake unto all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying, This is the thing which the LORD commanded, saying,  5  Take ye from among you an offering unto the LORD: whosoever is of a willing heart, let him bring it, an offering of the LORD; gold, and silver, and brass, 10  And every wise hearted among you shall come, and make all that the LORD hath commanded; 21  And they came, every one whose heart stirred him up, and every one whom his spirit made willing, and they brought the LORD’S offering to the work of the tabernacle of the congregation, and for all his service, and for the holy garments.  22  And they came, both men and women, as many as were willing hearted, and brought bracelets, and earrings, and rings, and tablets, all jewels of gold: and every man that offered offered an offering of gold unto the LORD.]

[as many as were willing hearted,] You see, it takes more than just believing in God that you become one of His, it is having faith in all that He is, accepting that He is all He says He is, you cannot believe that Jesus saved you by giving His life, and not believe that He was born in the flesh of a virgin. You must be willingly to accept Him as the Bible is written, and you do not need the Bible to understand that God and Jesus are the same. It’s all about faith, and our willingness to accept that faith and live by that faith. Are we going to mess up in our faith? Sure we are, but we have Jesus who is our advocate, and He will forever save us and fight for us, because after all, He does know us by name. [I John 2:1-5  My little children, these things write I unto you, that ye sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous:  2  And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for the sins of the whole world.  3  And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.  4  He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  5  But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [Exodus 34:6  And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for Your mercy and grace, as much as we try to be faithful to You, life seems to always put us to the test. Time and time again, You prove that even when we do not see You You are working in our lives, You are growing us, and preparing us for not only the task You have for us, but to receive the promises You have for us. Lord, If Your presence goes not with me, I do not want to go anywhere, lead me and guide me, give me Your power, mercy, grace, and Your strength to go where You take me, even when I do not see You. I ask these things in Your name Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
