Message: God’s Covenant With Life

Hello My Friend,

As I was reading the chapters for today it occurred to me just how much of God’s creation man has ruined in their attempt to make something of themselves as being the creator or rather having control of creation. The beautiful rainbow that reminds us of God’s promise to not destroy the earth with a flood anymore. The beautiful life in the womb that from creation is either male or female. The beautiful sun and how it is set just in the right position, and orbits around the earth at just the right amount of time. What they are doing is trying to say that man is in control, what they fail to comprehend is that God is in control and He allows them to be that way for one reason, [Revelation 22:12-13  And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.  13  I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.]

[and my reward is with me] If you want to be a fool and ignore the fact that God exists or even worse say that He exists and make up your own vision of who He is, then so be it, you will have your reward, and I am sorry to say it, that reward is hell. God has given each soul that He creates, remember, everything that is made is made from something that God has made, so, you are made from God, which by the way can only be made with a male and a female. Now, after the flood, God blessed Noah and his sons, He instructed them to be fruitful and multiply, in fact, He blessed all of what God calls as moving life.

[Genesis 9:1-6  And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.  2  And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.  3  Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.  4  But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.  5  And surely your blood of your lives will I require; at the hand of every beast will I require it, and at the hand of man; at the hand of every man’s brother will I require the life of man.  6  Whoso sheddeth man’s blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.]

[Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you;] If you ever wondered why the animals did not devour each other on the Ark, the reason being is that they were all vegetarians until after the flood. Every moving creature was allowed for food. This is also where God puts the fear of man upon beast, they would no longer be domesticated, and would actually be hunted for food. [And surely your blood of your lives will I require;] This is where God begins requiring blood sacrifices as payment for sin, although prior to the flood, animals were placed on the altar as an offering, this was done purely out of giving honor and thanks to God for His blessing them. Since life is always in the blood of the living, it was important that the sacrifice be of an animal that was alive, and not already dead. While animal life might be used for food or to give as a sacrifice, human life was and still is very precious to God. Blood is the life. When we speak of being redeemed by the blood of Jesus, we have been saved by giving His own blood, it is His blood in our souls that give us life, [John 6:54  Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.]

[and drinketh my blood,] Of course, the fool sees this verse and automatically thinks that you literally have to drink blood, but to the believer, we know this to be spiritually. It may not seem like man is precious to God the way He destroyed most of mankind in the flood, but just think about the state of man at that time, only eight people believed in God to the point that they believed that a flood was coming and to get on that Ark. God sends no one to hell, man does that through their unbelief or attempt to control God. It may not be down to eight people right now, but this world is quickly losing its faith in God, but God also made a promise to all flesh.

[Genesis 9:9-13,16,18  And I, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you;  10  And with every living creature that is with you, of the fowl, of the cattle, and of every beast of the earth with you; from all that go out of the ark, to every beast of the earth.  11  And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.  12  And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:  13  I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth. 16  And the bow shall be in the cloud; and I will look upon it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is upon the earth. 18  And the sons of Noah, that went forth of the ark, were Shem, and Ham, and Japheth: and Ham is the father of Canaan.]

[I do set my bow in the cloud,] Notice that God says,”My” bow. God wants us to know that He is the Creator and He established this covenant or contract with all flesh, not just man, but beast as well. Incidentally, the rainbow seen upon the storm clouds is a reflection of the cross of Christ. We stand in judgment for our sins, Christ is the one promise that all who believe in and receive Him will be pardoned from this judgment, and their soul will never be subject to death ever again, [Romans 3:23-25  For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;  24  Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:  25  Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;]

[and Ham is the father of Canaan.] Canaan, or rather the nation, would actually be a key in God establishing a people of His very own who would know how to come to Him His way. Noah found out the hard way that life on earth was a lot different after the flood, he went back to life as he knew it, and planted fruits, vegetables, herbs, and vineyard. Well, the grapes fermented as they probably sat in the barrels for quite a while, and for the first time became alcohol.

[Genesis 9:20-27  And Noah began to be an husbandman, and he planted a vineyard:  21  And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent.  22  And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without.  23  And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness.  24  And Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done unto him.  25  And he said, Cursed be Canaan; a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren.  26  And he said, Blessed be the LORD God of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.  27  God shall enlarge Japheth, and he shall dwell in the tents of Shem; and Canaan shall be his servant.]

[Cursed be Canaan;] The drunkenness of Noah is recorded in the Bible, with that fairness which is found only in Scripture, to show that we are all sinner and cannot stand upright unless we keep their eyes upon God in all that they do. Ham is quick to expose his fathers infirmities, and I imagine Canaan was there since Noah cursed his own grandson. We are all sinners, therefore, we have no right to gossip or expose ones sins to others, it is disrespectful and also opens ourselves up to being publicly cursed for our own sin, [Matthew 7:3,5  And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother’s eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?  5  Thou hypocrite, first cast out the beam out of thine own eye; and then shalt thou see clearly to cast out the mote out of thy brother’s eye.]

Now, just as God commanded them to be fruitful and multiply, they certainly did, the generations of Noah are listed, notice the sons of each of the three and how they will play key roles in how God would use many of them to establish and strengthen His people, [Genesis 10:1-2,5-6,15-16,22,32  Now these are the generations of the sons of Noah, Shem, Ham, and Japheth: and unto them were sons born after the flood.  2  The sons of Japheth; Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. 5  By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands; every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations.  6  And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. 15  And Canaan begat Sidon his firstborn, and Heth,  16  And the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgasite, 22  The children of Shem; Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. 32  These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations: and by these were the nations divided in the earth after the flood.]

[By these were the isles of the Gentiles divided in their lands;] Japheth’s descendants would make up what is known as the Gentiles, many of European descent, these would be generations that would follow the Jews path of seeking a relationship with God. The descendants of Ham, also Canaan, many would be of African descent, and rebel against God, as they were cursed to be servants of the other two generations. God’s focus was in the lineage of the Jews since this would be the generation in which Jesus would descend from. And the descendants of Shem will make up what is known as the Israelites or Jews. Today, all who receive Christ are one people, God’s people, who are actually called the people of Israel, [Romans 9:6.8,26  Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel: 8  That is, They which are the children of the flesh, these are not the children of God: but the children of the promise are counted for the seed. 26  And it shall come to pass, that in the place where it was said unto them, Ye are not my people; there shall they be called the children of the living God.]

Now, with just eight people on earth witnessing the wrath and mercies of God, you would think that all of them would worship only God, and teach that fear to their children. However, that was not the case, they were good at multiplying, but not at teaching them to fear God. Once they scattered the earth, they began establishing their own covenants and beliefs, the most influential were the Canaanites. They decided they wanted to build a tower to reach heaven, in which God decided it was time to confine them.

[Genesis 11:1-8  And the whole earth was of one language, and of one speech.  2  And it came to pass, as they journeyed from the east, that they found a plain in the land of Shinar; and they dwelt there.  3  And they said one to another, Go to, let us make brick, and burn them throughly. And they had brick for stone, and slime had they for morter.  4  And they said, Go to, let us build us a city and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven; and let us make us a name, lest we be scattered abroad upon the face of the whole earth.  5  And the LORD came down to see the city and the tower, which the children of men builded.  6  And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do.  7  Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another’s speech.  8  So the LORD scattered them abroad from thence upon the face of all the earth: and they left off to build the city.]

[which the children of men builded.] Notice that it says, “children of men.” These were not people who wanted God in their lives, and yet they believed in heaven and wanted to establish their own way of getting there. And how foolish where they to think that they could build a tower high enough that it would reach into heaven. And what exactly were they expecting to see if they managed to get that tower high enough to reach above the atmosphere? [and there confound their language,] This is why there are thousands of different languages and dialects, God wants His people separated from the world, they might all try to get to heaven, but there in only one way and that is Jesus Christ. Did you know that God has a language all of His own? He does, and the only people who understand it are those who are saved, [Zephaniah 3:9  For then will I turn to the people a pure language, that they may all call upon the name of the LORD, to serve him with one consent.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [Genesis 9:11-13  And I will establish my covenant with you; neither shall all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of a flood; neither shall there any more be a flood to destroy the earth.  12  And God said, This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations:  13  I do set my bow in the cloud, and it shall be for a token of a covenant between me and the earth.]

Today’s Prayer: God, As Your children, it is Your desire that we stay faithful to Your teachings. Both, Scripture and history gives many examples of those who knew to do right, but chose to do wrong. The consequences of their actions caused a great deal of loss, life-long regret, and emotional pain, not only for themselves, but the rest of the world as well. History gives us ample testimonies of how blessed or cursed we are as a nation of Your people. Lord, Give us Your power, wisdom, guidance, mercy, and grace to live for today in Your Word so that our future has blessings to look forward to rather than curses. I love You, and pray this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
