Message: Give An Account
Hello My Friend,
I was listening to a preacher last night, he was talking about accountability, why do, we are saved, born again, Christians work so hard to remain faithful to God, when it has nothing to do with our salvation. Well, I looked up the meaning of the word account, there are several actually, [Account; 1. A sum stated on paper; a registry of a debt or credit; 2. An assignment of reasons; explanation by a recital of particular transactions, given by a person in an employment, or to a superior, often implying responsibility. 3. Value; importance; estimation; that is, such a state of persons or things, as renders them worthy of more or less estimation. 4. To deem, judge, consider, think, or hold in opinion.] and it reminds me of something Jesus said, [Luke 21:34-36 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. 35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.]
We do give an account to Jesus for every one of those meanings, and well before we will stand before Him. 1. When you get saved, Jesus has already settled the debt you owed for your sin. There is no way that you could pay that huge debt off, so Jesus paid it for you with His own life. 2. Once saved, we are employed by Jesus to give the Gospel, that is our responsibility. 3. We are not worthy of God’s goodness, yet are still more valuable than the sparrows. 4. Since we are fearfully and wonderfully made in the very image of God, and are most precious to Him, He is going to consider how we live our lives, what exactly are we doing with the precious gift that He gave us, and we will give an account for that well before we stand before Him. And then Jesus reminded me of something else, [Matthew 20:14-16 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.].
Of all the people in the world, and of all the people who are saved, there really are very few who do live their lives for Christ. They are by far perfect, often seeking forgiveness and repentance all day long, but they are faithful and willing to step up and the work that God calls us to do. These are the ones that God chooses, and yes, it will be more work, we will be carrying the weight of those who have no desire to serve God, but we are not doing this for the sake of our place in the kingdom of God, we are doing this for the sake of our faith. When God told Moses that He wanted him to build a sanctuary for Him, He did not just let anyone do the job, He had specific people in mind, and gave them the both the skill and wisdom to do it.
[Exodus 36:2-5 And Moses called Bezaleel and Aholiab, and every wise hearted man, in whose heart the LORD had put wisdom, even every one whose heart stirred him up to come unto the work to do it: 3 And they received of Moses all the offering, which the children of Israel had brought for the work of the service of the sanctuary, to make it withal. And they brought yet unto him free offerings every morning. 4 And all the wise men, that wrought all the work of the sanctuary, came every man from his work which they made; 5 And they spake unto Moses, saying, The people bring much more than enough for the service of the work, which the LORD commanded to make.]
[even every one whose heart stirred him up] Now, serving God is more than just being employed to serve Him in His ministry, it also includes our giving to Him the things that are needed for those who are, each and every one of us are given gifts that stir us up, [I Corinthians 12:8-11 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; 9 To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; 10 To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: 11 But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will.]
God may not use everyone in the service of His work, but He will give some the willingness to help those who are, and that is in the way of giving tithes and offerings. Tithes and offerings too, are a part of those gifts and must be given with a willing heart. Any time we give to God it needs to be sincere, and with the right intention. Now, the very first item to be built for God’s sanctuary was the tent, each piece was made specific as God commanded and to fit together to become one tabernacle.
[Exodus 36:8-13 And every wise hearted man among them that wrought the work of the tabernacle made ten curtains of fine twined linen, and blue, and purple, and scarlet: with cherubims of cunning work made he them. 9 The length of one curtain was twenty and eight cubits, and the breadth of one curtain four cubits: the curtains were all of one size. 10 And he coupled the five curtains one unto another: and the other five curtains he coupled one unto another. 11 And he made loops of blue on the edge of one curtain from the selvedge in the coupling: likewise he made in the uttermost side of another curtain, in the coupling of the second. 12 Fifty loops made he in one curtain, and fifty loops made he in the edge of the curtain which was in the coupling of the second: the loops held one curtain to another. 13 And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.]
[so it became one tabernacle.] Remember, the Church is not made up of just preachers and teachers spreading the Gospel and teaching God’s Word, it is the entire body of Christ. They are men, women, and children who fully and honestly believe the enter Gospel and received Christ as their Saviour. If they are not teaching the entire Gospel, then they will give an account to Jesus for sending countless souls to hell, [II Corinthians 11:4,13,15 For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him. 13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. 15 Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.]
You see, faithful Christians who serve in His Church do not do so because it is required, we do so because we sincerely desire to serve Him, and in our faithfulness we may actually bring some to know Christ themselves. Those who preach a false gospel are doing both themselves and their followers a great disservice because they will all stand before Jesus and will give an account as to why they believed in and trusted the lies. The Gospel itself is the key to our salvation and is the very heart of our faith, and that is why it is so precious to God that He rests on it. Remember, the Tabernacle is a foreshadow of Christ, every piece was designed with Christ in mind. Now that the tent was complete, they began to build the furniture and everything else that went inside of the Tabernacle, beginning with the Ark of the Covenant, the wooded chest that would contain the two stone tablets written with the ten commandments on them, along with a copy of the Law, and a few other things.
[Exodus 37:1-2,6-7,9 And Bezaleel made the ark of shittim wood: two cubits and a half was the length of it, and a cubit and a half the breadth of it, and a cubit and a half the height of it: 2 And he overlaid it with pure gold within and without, and made a crown of gold to it round about. 6 And he made the mercy seat of pure gold: two cubits and a half was the length thereof, and one cubit and a half the breadth thereof. 7 And he made two cherubims of gold, beaten out of one piece made he them, on the two ends of the mercy seat; 9 And the cherubims spread out their wings on high, and covered with their wings over the mercy seat, with their faces one to another; even to the mercy seatward were the faces of the cherubims.]
[and covered with their wings over the mercy seat,] Cherubims are angels that you do not want to mess with, they actually are guards, and even stand at the entrance of Eden, which it is still here on earth somewhere. Their wings covered the mercy seat, the very place where God would sit when communing with the priests. They are the holiness of God, outraged by sin, ready to defend the Word of God at God’s command, they are a reminder that God’s Word is forever settled in heaven, and no one can alter or change it no matter how many “versions” they make, [Psalms 119:89-94 LAMED. For ever, O LORD, thy word is settled in heaven. 90 Thy faithfulness is unto all generations: thou hast established the earth, and it abideth. 91 They continue this day according to thine ordinances: for all are thy servants. 92 Unless thy law had been my delights, I should then have perished in mine affliction. 93 I will never forget thy precepts: for with them thou hast quickened me. 94 I am thine, save me; for I have sought thy precepts.]
Why God led me to these verses is beyond me, perhaps it has to do with the fact that if it were not for knowing the Gospel, and receiving Christ, we would stand before Jesus and give an account as to why we did not believe His Word. Ignorance does not save us, Jesus does not know us if we choose some man made religion over His Word. This is not Him being cruel, it is Him being the righteous judge that He is. We must come to Him by faith, in all that He is, not just what we choose to believe Him to be by some religion that distorts His Word. What is it that Jesus said to the religious when they questioned why He sat with sinners? [Matthew 23:25-26 Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess. 26 Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.]
The Tabernacle and everything inside was for communing with God, after they were consecrated, if they had not gone through the process of sanctifying themselves and walked through that tent door, they would die instantly. That is why the court outside the Tabernacle was the first thing they came to, within the court was everything necessary for them to be able to stand before God and live, which were the last items to be built.
[Exodus 38:1-2,8-10 And he made the altar of burnt offering of shittim wood: five cubits was the length thereof, and five cubits the breadth thereof; it was foursquare; and three cubits the height thereof. 2 And he made the horns thereof on the four corners of it; the horns thereof were of the same: and he overlaid it with brass. 8 And he made the laver of brass, and the foot of it of brass, of the lookingglasses of the women assembling, which assembled at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation. 9 And he made the court: on the south side southward the hangings of the court were of fine twined linen, an hundred cubits: 10 Their pillars were twenty, and their brasen sockets twenty; the hooks of the pillars and their fillets were of silver.]
[of the lookingglasses of the women assembling,] The laver itself signified how the Gospel washes our souls from the pollution of sin through our faith in Christ. The looking glasses, also known as mirrors, were placed in a way that as they looked down they would discover any blemishes on their faces, and wash them before entering in the Tabernacle. Our faith in Christ removes every blemish so that we can stand before His Father and live. When God, sees us through our faith in Christ, it is not us that He sees, it is His Son, [Hebrews 9:24-26,28 For Christ is not entered into the holy places made with hands, which are the figures of the true; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: 25 Nor yet that he should offer himself often, as the high priest entereth into the holy place every year with blood of others; 26 For then must he often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath he appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of himself. 28 So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation.]
Jesus Christ Magnified: [Exodus 36:13 And he made fifty taches of gold, and coupled the curtains one unto another with the taches: so it became one tabernacle.]
Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You, for Your endless mercies and grace, for Your never ending promise to give eternal life to all who receive Your Son as their Saviour. We are Your tabernacle, and for whatever reason, You have chosen us to serve You in some way. Lord, Lead us and guide us, fill us with Your Holy Spirit power to be able to do the work You can given us to do, let us not forget to rest so that we do not become weary in well dong and faint in doing so. Forgive us where we have failed You, strengthen us, and make us durable through Your Word so we can be able to withstand the wear and tear of life that comes along the way. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
