Message: Forget Not My Law

Hello My Friend,

I do not do this often, intended to do it today, but got distracted and ended up forgetting until I started reading the chapters for today, and that is to thank God for the infirmities in life. We do not like the infirmities, the ailments we must deal with as each second that goes by is one more closer to our being with Christ if we are saved. It is actually the infirmities of life, that lead us to Christ to begin with. Some things we will never fully comprehend about God, yet, the Bible is the true, undeniable, infallible, written words of God, and if we believe this, there is nothing He will not help us to either understand or come to an understanding about. “My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” – Proverbs 3:1-6.

and he shall direct thy paths.” Do you think that since we are now saved by grace, it has really always been about grace, but now it is permanent, the commands of God do not apply to us? There are some commands that are specifically for a certain era, but the basic commands are something we need to practice daily. Keep in mind that we are not under the Law of Moses, in that should we break one command, we are guilty of breaking them all (James 2:10). We are under the Law of Grace, which means our faithfulness is not about keeping our salvation, it is about keeping God’s blessings upon our lives. God had already promised the Israelites that He would give them a land flowing with milk and honey, Moses, with the elders, gather all the people together at Mount Ebal, the first thing they were to do once they passed over the Jordan and into the promised land was to build an altar, and upon that altar they were to write the Law upon it.

And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day. And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaister them with plaister: And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee. Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaister them with plaister. And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them. Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God: And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God. And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.” – Deuteronomy 27:1-8.

write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.” God’s Word is plain, man has complicated it by creating versions that leave things out or make up their own doctrine. No one needs to help God out by creating a version of His Word to help people understand it, what they need to be doing is obeying it in the first place. Now, if you do not want to accept that everything in His Word as true, then do not expect His blessings. Why? God does not bless anyone who does not take His Word seriously. If you are going to believe that Christ saves your soul, and accept Him as your Saviour then the rest of the Bible is true and needs to be accepted and followed. And here is the thing, that is your choice. There are great blessings that come when we obey every word. Moses lists all the blessings that will come should they follow His commands.

And it shall come to pass, if thou shalt hearken diligently unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe and to do all his commandments which I command thee this day, that the LORD thy God will set thee on high above all nations of the earth: And all these blessings shall come on thee, and overtake thee, if thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God. Blessed shalt thou be in the city, and blessed shalt thou be in the field. Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself, as he hath sworn unto thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of the LORD thy God, and walk in his ways. And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the name of the LORD; and they shall be afraid of thee. And the LORD shall make thee the head, and not the tail; and thou shalt be above only, and thou shalt not be beneath; if that thou hearken unto the commandments of the LORD thy God, which I command thee this day, to observe and to do them:” – Deuteronomy 28:1-6,9-10,13.

to observe and to do all his commandments” Now, did God expect the Israelites to remember and obey every one of the six hundred and thirteen commands? No. What He expected was faithfulness, should they break a command confess it and come to Him for atonement (Psalm 32). “The LORD shall establish thee an holy people unto himself,” Saved, born again Christian, there is no more the Jew and the Gentile, there is the holy people of God, which you are through your faith in Christ alone. That ought to be more reason for us to know and obey every command He expects from us. “But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy. Dearly beloved, I beseech you as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul; Having your conversation honest among the Gentiles: that, whereas they speak against you as evildoers, they may by your good works, which they shall behold, glorify God in the day of visitation.” – I Peter 2:9-12.

glorify God in the day of visitation.” We are justified by our faith in Christ, we are blessed by God by living a life that glorifies Him. And just because we are saved that does not mean we can live in sin without consequence. All sin brings curses. After the short list of blessings that come through their obedience, the curses now come.

But it shall come to pass, if thou wilt not hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to observe to do all his commandments and his statutes which I command thee this day; that all these curses shall come upon thee, and overtake thee: Cursed shalt thou be in the city, and cursed shalt thou be in the field. Cursed shall be thy basket and thy store. Cursed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy land, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Cursed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and cursed shalt thou be when thou goest out. The LORD shall send upon thee cursing, vexation, and rebuke, in all that thou settest thine hand unto for to do, until thou be destroyed, and until thou perish quickly; because of the wickedness of thy doings, whereby thou hast forsaken me. The LORD shall make the pestilence cleave unto thee, until he have consumed thee from off the land, whither thou goest to possess it. Moreover all these curses shall come upon thee, and shall pursue thee, and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed; because thou hearkenedst not unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which he commanded thee: The LORD shall bring a nation against thee from far, from the end of the earth, as swift as the eagle flieth; a nation whose tongue thou shalt not understand;” – Deuteronomy 28:15-21,27,45,49.

and overtake thee, till thou be destroyed;” Do you know what God despises more than all the heathens and their false gods? His people living in sin. Judgment comes to the house of God first, we have a choice, accept and follow Him completely or suffer the curses that come from sinful living. “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.” – Revelation 3:14-19

If you ever wondered why everything seems to be a mess these days, less people are following Christ, and even turning from their faith in Him. Well, Jesus warned that this would happen before He returns (Matthew 24:6-14). These minor judgments we face as a nation, such as this virus, are warnings for repentance, and it really has nothing to do with those of reprobate minds, it has everything to do with finding Christ’s lost sheep before the actual judgment comes. Moses continues to warn them of the curses that come, in fact, all those plagues they saw in Egypt would be nothing compared to what He would do to the land should they turn on Him.

If thou wilt not observe to do all the words of this law that are written in this book, that thou mayest fear this glorious and fearful name, THE LORD THY GOD; Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful, and the plagues of thy seed, even great plagues, and of long continuance, and sore sicknesses, and of long continuance. Moreover he will bring upon thee all the diseases of Egypt, which thou wast afraid of; and they shall cleave unto thee. Also every sickness, and every plague, which is not written in the book of this law, them will the LORD bring upon thee, until thou be destroyed. And ye shall be left few in number, whereas ye were as the stars of heaven for multitude; because thou wouldest not obey the voice of the LORD thy God. And it shall come to pass, that as the LORD rejoiced over you to do you good, and to multiply you; so the LORD will rejoice over you to destroy you, and to bring you to nought; and ye shall be plucked from off the land whither thou goest to possess it.” – Deuteronomy 28:58-63.

Then the LORD will make thy plagues wonderful,” This is not the good kind of wonderful, this is astonishing to all that see them. This virus, this plague, that has been spread across the entire globe is nothing that has ever been seen before. Oh, there have been plagues that attack certain areas, but never one that shut down the entire world. All we can do right now is pray for God to put His hedge around His faithful, ask Him to touch and heal the affliction in His way, pray and fast for the healing of our entire earth, and should there be any knowing sin, repent now, and turn to Christ. “Remember therefore from whence thou art fallen, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent.” – Revelation 2:5.

Today’s Prayer: God, You never cease to remind me of just how blessed I am, everything could be falling apart around me, but I truly have Your favor. You never stop loving me, and are always there to give me guidance and correction when I need it. Lord, lead me and guide me, open my ears to hearing Your voice at all times, open my eyes to seeing everything You are trying to show me, open my heart to receive it all, help me to learn of and follow all Your commands, not because I have to, but because it brings glory to You and blessings to and through me. Watch over Your people, put Your hedge of protection around them, keep them safe, touch and heal everybody as You see fit. Open the hearts of the unfaithful to repentance, and open the hearts of the ones who are lost and confused to see they can find peace and healing through Your Son. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
