Message: For All His Benefits

Hello My Friend,

As I was reading the chapters for today, this passage jumped out at me, and after the week I have been having it really is jumping at me, [Psalms 116:12-13  What shall I render unto the LORD for all his benefits toward me?  13  I will take the cup of salvation, and call upon the name of the LORD.]

[What shall I render unto the LORD] Render; To return; to pay back. What shall I give to God to pay Him back for all His goodness? [for all his benefits toward me?] Benefit; An act of kindness; a favor conferred. [I will take the cup of salvation,] Salvation; The act of saving; preservation from destruction, danger or great calamity. Think about it, what is it that we can give to God to pay Him back for all His goodness? Receive His Son as our Saviour. How ironic is it that it is God Himself, through His Son, paid the price for our sin? And yet the only thing we have to do to pay Him back is call upon His Son as our Saviour. For all of those who think that salvation was given to man by their works before Christ came here in the flesh you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. It has always been by the grace of God, through our faith in the LORD, Christ just made it official and permanent.

[Ephesians 2:5-10  Even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)  6  And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus:  7  That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus.  8  For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:  9  Not of works, lest any man should boast.  10  For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.]

[created in Christ Jesus unto good works,] What we do for God after we are saved is how we thank Him for all His benefits. While we all have our own crosses to bear, Christ ought to be a prominent figure in our lives, and when He is, we render His benefits by seeking out what He would have us do. [Psalms 111:1-4,9-10  Praise ye the LORD. I will praise the LORD with my whole heart, in the assembly of the upright, and in the congregation.  2  The works of the LORD are great, sought out of all them that have pleasure therein.  3  His work is honourable and glorious: and his righteousness endureth for ever.  4  He hath made his wonderful works to be remembered: the LORD is gracious and full of compassion. 9  He sent redemption unto his people: he hath commanded his covenant for ever: holy and reverend is his name.  10  The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: a good understanding have all they that do his commandments: his praise endureth for ever.]

[the LORD is gracious and full of compassion.] God is so gracious that even though we mess up, He never leaves nor forsakes, nor removes His benefits from us. Why? [he hath commanded his covenant for ever:] God’s promise to us is that as long as we admit we are a sinner, believe in the Gospel of Christ, and confess that we need Him to save us, we get eternal life, [Romans 6:23]. God’s benefits are endless, His hand is forever stretched out to us, whether it is for provision or protection, and no matter how many times we mess up, He never breaks the covenant He makes with us. We may not get what we expect, but He always gives us what we need, and He does that by grace without even asking Him for anything. [The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom:] There is a key to unlocking more of God’s benefits, and that is to fear Him.

[Psalms 112:1-7  Praise ye the LORD. Blessed is the man that feareth the LORD, that delighteth greatly in his commandments.  2  His seed shall be mighty upon earth: the generation of the upright shall be blessed.  3  Wealth and riches shall be in his house: and his righteousness endureth for ever.  4  Unto the upright there ariseth light in the darkness: he is gracious, and full of compassion, and righteous.  5  A good man sheweth favour, and lendeth: he will guide his affairs with discretion.  6  Surely he shall not be moved for ever: the righteous shall be in everlasting remembrance.  7  He shall not be afraid of evil tidings: his heart is fixed, trusting in the LORD.]

[that delighteth greatly in his commandments.] This is exactly what it means to fear God, to delight in His commands. When we delight in His commands we love, honor, respect, and thank Him for all His benefits by learning His commands and living by them. If we learn there is sin in our lives, then we need His mercy, grace, compassion, and righteousness to help us overcome, and remove it. I do not have to tell you that life can get messy, and we fail Him often, yet His benefits are continual. that is not something we ought to be taking lightly or for granted, and we need to not only praise Him, but give Him the glory for the benefits we do not deserve.

[Psalms 115:1-13  Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but unto thy name give glory, for thy mercy, and for thy truth’s sake.  2  Wherefore should the heathen say, Where is now their God?  3  But our God is in the heavens: he hath done whatsoever he hath pleased.  4  Their idols are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.  5  They have mouths, but they speak not: eyes have they, but they see not:  6  They have ears, but they hear not: noses have they, but they smell not:  7  They have hands, but they handle not: feet have they, but they walk not: neither speak they through their throat.  8  They that make them are like unto them; so is every one that trusteth in them.  9  O Israel, trust thou in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.  10  O house of Aaron, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.  11  Ye that fear the LORD, trust in the LORD: he is their help and their shield.  12  The LORD hath been mindful of us: he will bless us; he will bless the house of Israel; he will bless the house of Aaron.  13  He will bless them that fear the LORD, both small and great.]

[The LORD hath been mindful of us:] Do you understand the benefit of knowing the one and only living God? And we do not just have the benefit of knowing Him, we have the benefit of talking to Him one on one, and He is mindful of every single thing that we say, thing, and do. This is exactly why salvation is by grace, and not our works, we mess up, a lot, and yet, He still blesses us. And let me tell you, God gives, and He can take, and yet even if He takes things away, we can praise Him and give Him the glory for His benefit of taking away things that would have made life messier. You know, the amazing thing is that calling upon the LORD is not just a one time deal, our salvation is not lost, it is eternal, and should we mess up, He is faithful and just to forgive us. We have the great benefit of being able to call on Him anytime we want, we just need to be sincere about it.

[Psalms 116:1-8  I love the LORD, because he hath heard my voice and my supplications.  2  Because he hath inclined his ear unto me, therefore will I call upon him as long as I live.  3  The sorrows of death compassed me, and the pains of hell gat hold upon me: I found trouble and sorrow.  4  Then called I upon the name of the LORD; O LORD, I beseech thee, deliver my soul.  5  Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.  6  The LORD preserveth the simple: I was brought low, and he helped me.  7  Return unto thy rest, O my soul; for the LORD hath dealt bountifully with thee.  8  For thou hast delivered my soul from death, mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.]

[I found trouble and sorrow.] Is it not easy for us to find trouble, it actually seems to find us, the sorrow it brings is what actually brings us to repentance. And He will chasten us when we get into trouble, yet we can still be at rest because we have the ultimate benefit of being saved by grace and not our works.

[Psalms 118:1-6,13-14,18-20  O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.  2  Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.  3  Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.  4  Let them now that fear the LORD say, that his mercy endureth for ever.  5  I called upon the LORD in distress: the LORD answered me, and set me in a large place.  6  The LORD is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me? 13  Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the LORD helped me.  14  The LORD is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.  18  The LORD hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.  19  Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the LORD:  20  This gate of the LORD, into which the righteous shall enter.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for making salvation simple and affordable, what shall I render for all the benefits that You give me without fail? I will take the cup of Your salvation and call upon Christ as my Saviour. It has been years since I have called on You to save my soul, and Your benefits have been endless. I have failed You more times than I can count, yet Your benefits are still endless. Thank You, LORD, for loving me, and not giving up on me, for Your continual benefits, even the chastening, for they are exactly what brings repentance and faithfulness to You. Lord, Your mercy endures forever, lead me and guide me in Your will and way, give me Your power, mercy, grace, forgiveness, protection, peace, wisdom, and the understanding to live delightfully by Your commands. Let me not take for granted all Your benefits, and remember to praise and give Your the glory for each and every one of them. I love You, LORD, and ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
