Message: Cleansing The Body

Hello My Friend,

As I was praying this morning, I kept thinking of the animal sacrifices that were required for the sinner who wanted to reconcile, make peace with God, and be saved from His punishment for sin. I imagined that I held one hand on the head of Jesus, while killing Him, and offering Him up to His Father in the place of my own life. Let me tell you, just how much that opens up your eyes to what Jesus has done for you, and to not take your salvation for granted. It also is a great reminder that He not only is the sacrifice, He is also the high priest that speaks to His Father on our behalf, the one who pleads with God to save us through our faith alone in Him.

[John 17:9,19-23  I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.  20  Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;  21  That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.  22  And the glory which thou gavest me I have given them; that they may be one, even as we are one:  23  I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.]

Yes, Jesus prays for us, each and every time we ask God for the things we have need of, there He is on the right hand of the Father, reminding God that we are one with them. Each and every time we ask God for forgiveness of our sins, there He is on the right hand of the Father reminding Him that we have received Him, and are sanctified in Him. We are made clean through the one and only sacrifice that this incredible, faithful, sinless man has made for us. Amen! Let me tell you, sin will forever be a blemish that mars our body if it is not addressed right away. Of all the sacrifices one had to bring before God for atonement and reconciliation, the ones that stood out the most are what they had to do to be cleansed of a disease or sickness. Chapter 13 was an entire chapter on leprosy and what happened when someone had gotten it. Now, God gives the Law concerning the cleansing of a body after it has been healed from it.

[Leviticus 14:2-7  This shall be the law of the leper in the day of his cleansing: He shall be brought unto the priest:  3  And the priest shall go forth out of the camp; and the priest shall look, and, behold, if the plague of leprosy be healed in the leper;  4  Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedar wood, and scarlet, and hyssop:  5  And the priest shall command that one of the birds be killed in an earthen vessel over running water:  6  As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedar wood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:  7  And he shall sprinkle upon him that is to be cleansed from the leprosy seven times, and shall pronounce him clean, and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.]

[and shall let the living bird loose into the open field.] Can you see Christ in this? This symbolizes His death, burial, and resurrection. The first bird represents Christ dying on the cross, the blood was poured into a clay pot with fresh water that had been running down into it. This represents Christ’s being buried in the tomb, the living bird represents His resurrection, [I John 5:6  This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.]

We can wash ourselves with water, but unless we have the blood of Christ upon our soul we are not clean. After the lepers were cleansed of their flesh, they had to make an atonement for their souls, which took two lambs or if they were poor, two turtledoves or pigeons, and some oil. [Leviticus 14:8-11  And he that is to be cleansed shall wash his clothes, and shave off all his hair, and wash himself in water, that he may be clean: and after that he shall come into the camp, and shall tarry abroad out of his tent seven days.  9  But it shall be on the seventh day, that he shall shave all his hair off his head and his beard and his eyebrows, even all his hair he shall shave off: and he shall wash his clothes, also he shall wash his flesh in water, and he shall be clean.  10  And on the eighth day he shall take two he lambs without blemish, and one ewe lamb of the first year without blemish, and three tenth deals of fine flour for a meat offering, mingled with oil, and one log of oil.  11  And the priest that maketh him clean shall present the man that is to be made clean, and those things, before the LORD, at the door of the tabernacle of the congregation:]

[But it shall be on the seventh day,] This is the second time they were to remove every strand of hair on their body. Why was this done? It was actually done so that the priests had time to cleanse themselves from being defiled by them so that they could offer up the sacrifices for their atonement. Those who have been washed of their sins, by the sprinkling of the blood of Christ upon our souls, must with the utmost care and caution cleanse ourselves from all filthiness both of flesh and spirit so that we can be the ministers that God needs us to be to bring more to His Son, [II Corinthians 7:1  Having therefore these promises, dearly beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.]

Our salvation redeems our soul from the penalties of death and hell, cleansing our body from sin, it also brings atonement to our body as we begin to remove sinful things from our lives, but if we are going to be successful and see blessings from God it is important that we not only cleanse our bodies, but our house as well, that means removing any temptations that will cause us to defile our bodies. Israel was not even in Canaan yet, but He knew they would defile their homes as well, God warned them of leprosy coming into their homes and how they were to cleanse the home before they were to make an atonement.

[Leviticus 14:34-36  When ye be come into the land of Canaan, which I give to you for a possession, and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession;  35  And he that owneth the house shall come and tell the priest, saying, It seemeth to me there is as it were a plague in the house:  36  Then the priest shall command that they empty the house, before the priest go into it to see the plague, that all that is in the house be not made unclean: and afterward the priest shall go in to see the house:]

[and I put the plague of leprosy in a house of the land of your possession;] God will allow sickness and or suffering in the home until the sin that defiles it is removed. When we receive Christ as our Saviour our soul is cleansed of our sin by His blood, whatever we continue to do or allow that is sinful, defiles our house and until the sin is remove or the steps to remove it are taken, there will be suffering in the home as well, [I Corinthians 3:15-17  If any man’s work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire.  16  Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?  17  If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.]

Cleanliness; To remove all foreign matter from; to separate from any thing whatever is foul or offensive. I am a very clean person, my whole family is, and I hate when I have to live or work around someone who is filthy, but even as clean as I am I know I have not removed everything that is foul to God. People really have no clue how important it is to be clean, filth is what causes disease to spread like wildfire, which is why God saw it necessary to instruct them about personal hygiene.

[Leviticus 15:2-7  Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When any man hath a running issue out of his flesh, because of his issue he is unclean.  3  And this shall be his uncleanness in his issue: whether his flesh run with his issue, or his flesh be stopped from his issue, it is his uncleanness.  4  Every bed, whereon he lieth that hath the issue, is unclean: and every thing, whereon he sitteth, shall be unclean.  5  And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.  6  And he that sitteth on any thing whereon he sat that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.  7  And he that toucheth the flesh of him that hath the issue shall wash his clothes, and bathe himself in water, and be unclean until the even.]

[And whosoever toucheth his bed shall wash his clothes,] Sin, whether we commit it ourselves or are exposed to others affects us, if not worse than those who are committing the sin themselves. This is why God tells us not to be yoked together with unbelievers, it brings too much pain and suffering. It is amazing how much common sense God gives us from His Word, He really does spell it all out for us into something like this, [Romans 6:1-4  What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?  2  God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?  3  Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?  4  Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.]

Jesus Christ Magnified: [Leviticus 14:16-18  And the priest shall dip his right finger in the oil that is in his left hand, and shall sprinkle of the oil with his finger seven times before the LORD:  17  And of the rest of the oil that is in his hand shall the priest put upon the tip of the right ear of him that is to be cleansed, and upon the thumb of his right hand, and upon the great toe of his right foot, upon the blood of the trespass offering:  18  And the remnant of the oil that is in the priest’s hand he shall pour upon the head of him that is to be cleansed: and the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD.]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for being who You are, for giving us an easier way to be cleansed, and receive an atonement for the things we do that defile our bodies. Salvation always comes with a price, and Your Son paid the price for me with His blood, and no matter what I do You will always be with me. That does not mean You condone sin in our lives, even if we are just around someone else who lives in sin, but it does mean that You promise us eternal life, protection, while we are here as we remain faithful to You. Lord, give us Your power to remove the things in our lives that make us unclean, the wisdom and guidance in how to handle situations that expose us to things that defile us. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
