Message: Beloved By Christ
Hello My Friend,
Beloved, to be loved or greatly loved. We all long to be loved, there brings no greater joy than to for someone to share their love toward us. Quite often, we do not feel loved at all, in fact, we feel unloved and sometimes even unworthy of being loved. The truth is, we are all beloved, Jesus Christ showed His love for all when He went to the cross for each and every one of us. Much more than that, if we believe in and receive Him as our Saviour, we are one with Him, we are His and He is ours, in Him we are beloved. “Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit, and that your fruit should remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.” – John 15:13,16.
When we first discover Christ’s love for us and receive Him as our Saviour an excitement and liveliness comes about us, we cannot wait to see what God can do for us. As time goes by, and life gets in the way, we tend to lose that liveliness, some lose it so much that they forget Jesus is still with them. He knocks, and He calls for them, but His voice gets drowned out under a pile of sin, then He has no choice, but to step back and let them figure it out on our own until they seek Him out and find Him. In the Song of Solomon, we have a wife singing of her husband, and it is a sad song. She sings of her broken heart after he walks away because he called out to her and waited to long to answer him, now she is searching all over for him, but cannot find him.
“I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me, my sister, my love, my dove, my undefiled: for my head is filled with dew, and my locks with the drops of the night. I have put off my coat; how shall I put it on? I have washed my feet; how shall I defile them? My beloved put in his hand by the hole of the door, and my bowels were moved for him. I rose up to open to my beloved; and my hands dropped with myrrh, and my fingers with sweet smelling myrrh, upon the handles of the lock. I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself, and was gone: my soul failed when he spake: I sought him, but I could not find him; I called him, but he gave me no answer. The watchmen that went about the city found me, they smote me, they wounded me; the keepers of the walls took away my veil from me. I charge you, O daughters of Jerusalem, if ye find my beloved, that ye tell him, that I am sick of love.” – Song of Solomon 5:2-8.
“I opened to my beloved; but my beloved had withdrawn himself,” We cannot live a sinful life and expect Jesus to stand at the door knocking until we open the door. NO, He does not take away our salvation, but if we take too long to answer Him He will withdraw himself until we repent and seek Him. What is so important about living a moral and Godly life when it is not required to be saved? Gratitude. Do you have any idea what Jesus went through in order for us to be saved from the fiery pits of hell? The beating, skin ripping, mocking, spiting, the pain He endured alone should be enough for us to be forever grateful. He died a horrible death so that we may live, the least we can do to thank Him is make Him apart of our lives. “For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.” – Galatians 5:13.
We must understand that just because we face hardships it does not mean we are not beloved by Christ, in fact, it is the hardships that bring us closer to Him, especially if sin is involved. Getting through hardships caused by sin makes the believer understand the love of Christ, and why it is only through the grace of God that we are even saved. Once we belong to Christ, nothing can separate us from Him. It is sad that so many saved people will never understand just how much He is beloved by them. God’s mercy and grace upon us is just amazing, but if we do not acknowledge it, then we will always be wondering where He is. The bride continues to search for her groom, and when she finally finds him she discovers something amazing, even though he has he has hundreds of wives, he loves her for her.
“There are threescore queens, and fourscore concubines, and virgins without number. My dove, my undefiled is but one; she is the only one of her mother, she is the choice one of her that bare her. The daughters saw her, and blessed her; yea, the queens and the concubines, and they praised her. Who is she that looketh forth as the morning, fair as the moon, clear as the sun, and terrible as an army with banners? I went down into the garden of nuts to see the fruits of the valley, and to see whether the vine flourished, and the pomegranates budded. Or ever I was aware, my soul made me like the chariots of Amminadib.” – Song of Solomon 6:8-12.
“My dove, my undefiled is but one;” To think of a marriage with Christ we have to think beyond our human comprehension, while it is a union as a man and woman would joint together as one, it is not in the physical sense, this is spiritual. Once we receive Christ as our Saviour our souls are saved, we are one with Him for eternity. Each one of us, while all individual members, are one with Christ, those who have been saved before us rejoice and gladly accept us as His bride. We are His beloved, if we stray and fall into sin, He is never too far that He cannot be found, and all we have to do to find Him is turn around. Jesus loves us, He feels our pain and does not want us to suffer, but we do need to come to Him to help us out of any hardship.
“I am my beloved’s, and his desire is toward me. Come, my beloved, let us go forth into the field; let us lodge in the villages. Let us get up early to the vineyards; let us see if the vine flourish, whether the tender grape appear, and the pomegranates bud forth: there will I give thee my loves. The mandrakes give a smell, and at our gates are all manner of pleasant fruits, new and old, which I have laid up for thee, O my beloved.” – Song of Solomon 7:10-13.
“and his desire is toward me.” Jesus only wants the best for us, He gave His life for us, He shed His blood, that we may be able to live eternally with Him. Of course, He wants the best for those who put their trust solely upon Him for their salvation, and even more than that. He is the vine of the vineyard, His saved are the branches, in order for our lives to flourish with an abundance of fruit we need to nourish our branch with the food it needs to grow by feeding the vine first. Any plant that produces ripe, edible, sweet fruit gets that way with a lot of pruning, weeding, and feeding it with the nutrients and water it needs. Our relationship with Jesus is the same way, the more love we give to the Him the more fruitful we become, but those who remain in sin will die in their sin. “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.” – John 15:5-7.
All this happens because God is a jealous God, once we belong to Him He will not share us with another. If we choose to love something else more than Him He will feel neglected and cheated. Why? He loves you, He went through a lot for you to be who you are today, He rejoices when He is able to walk with you, and He will get jealous if something else gets more of your attention. Here we have the bride getting jealous went she sees other women around her groom.
“Who is this that cometh up from the wilderness, leaning upon her beloved? I raised thee up under the apple tree: there thy mother brought thee forth: there she brought thee forth that bare thee. Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; jealousy is cruel as the grave: the coals thereof are coals of fire, which hath a most vehement flame. Many waters cannot quench love, neither can the floods drown it: if a man would give all the substance of his house for love, it would utterly be contemned.” – Song of Solomon 8:5-7.
“Set me as a seal upon thine heart,” Jesus seals us with His blood, we are forever settled in the arms of our Saviour. Just like any spouse or person spoken for would get jealous when their beloved is paying attention to someone else, so does God. God does not want to take away all our joy in life, but He does want us to make Him Lord of our life, that means putting Him first and at the center of all that we do. Truthfully, if we put God first and make Him the center of our lives, He will eliminate all the worldly things that once brought us joy and replace them with wonderful, amazing things that bring us great joy. “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity” – II Timothy 2:19.
Jesus Christ Magnified: “I sleep, but my heart waketh: it is the voice of my beloved that knocketh, saying, Open to me,” – Song of Solomon 5:2a.
Today’s Prayer: Jesus, You showed us that we are beloved by You by sacrificing Your life on the cross for us, and offering eternal life to all who believe in and receive You. No matter how much we resist, no matter how many times we back away from You, You are right there, patiently waiting for us to come to You with all that we are going through. You want to comfort us, guide us, and give us hope through all the circumstances we face. Lord, open our ears and hearts, help us to get past our circumstances and turn to You for all things, I know it is only by coming to You that I can truly know I am beloved and that You are beloved by me. In Your name Jesus, Amen.
