Message: Let Jesus Carry Your Burdens

Hello My Friend,

As I was praying this morning I thought about the sermon I heard last night, based on this verse, [Psalms 55:22  Cast thy burden upon the LORD, and he shall sustain thee: he shall never suffer the righteous to be moved.] I then proceeded to ask Him to forgive me for not giving my burdens over to Him and said that I now cast them all to Him. Well, that prompted me to look up other verses about burdens and of course, the one that stood out first was this passage.

[Matthew 11:27-30  All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.  28  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  29  Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.  30  For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.]

There are different types of burdens, [Burden; 1. That which is borne or carried; a load; to lay on a heavy load; 2. That which is borne with labor or difficulty; that which is grievous, wearisome or oppressive. 3. To make light; To remove in part; to lessen, mitigate, or make easier to be endured; applied to evils; as, to alleviate sorrow, pain, care, punishment.]

When Jesus said that His burden is light He means that when we cast our burdens upon Him He does not necessarily remove them, but He lessens the load to make it easier to be endured. If there is one thing about God that we ought to understand about how he handles our burdens it is that He will use them to get us into spiritual shape. When we give them over to Jesus, He will not only make them lighter, He will give us rest through them, [Philippians 4:6-7  Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.  7  And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.]

Okay, so when we are at peace though our burdens we are actually at rest because we have given them over to Jesus since He is the one carrying the load for us. And while we may not always understand the burden we can still be at peace, especially when we learn that the plans that God has for us. Now, as we return to the reading of Proverbs, we learn that these Proverbs had been found by King Hezekiah decades after Solomon, who was his great, and then some great grandfather and had written them. It is said that Hezekiah found these two hundred and seventy years after the death of Solomon.

[Proverbs 25:1-7  These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.  2  It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.  3  The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.  4  Take away the dross from the silver, and there shall come forth a vessel for the finer.  5  Take away the wicked from before the king, and his throne shall be established in righteousness.  6  Put not forth thyself in the presence of the king, and stand not in the place of great men:  7  For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither; than that thou shouldest be put lower in the presence of the prince whom thine eyes have seen.]

[but the honour of kings is to search out a matter.] It is okay and quite the honor from God Himself when His people get in His Word and start searching for some answers. God’s ways are often advisedly hidden from the world. In fact Jesus, said this, [Matthew 23:3-5  All therefore whatsoever they bid you observe, that observe and do; but do not ye after their works: for they say, and do not.  4  For they bind heavy burdens and grievous to be borne, and lay them on men’s shoulders; but they themselves will not move them with one of their fingers.  5  But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,]

[For better it is that it be said unto thee, Come up hither;] This is exactly why we do not want to be so quick to want the fame and even the wealth that the world has because one; we do not belong with them. And two; we do not want to know what they did to get it. Just the other day I was saying to God that I do not envy those who have more money than me, but it would be nice to be able have my own house and car and not worry about it being taken away because I cannot pay for them. And do you know what He said to me? Be patient, [Hebrews 10:36  For ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise.]

Sometimes it is in God’s will that we face some burdens, the problem comes whe we try to handle them without casting them upon Him as that brings more burdens. And I get it, it really is easy to add on to the burden when we cannot seem get the things we have need of when while others are getting the things they do not need, even fellow Christians who are really are good at showing off just how much they have. When we feel this burden we need to hand to over to Jesus real quick before impulses are made.

[Proverbs 25:8-10,13-14,18  Go not forth hastily to strive, lest thou know not what to do in the end thereof, when thy neighbour hath put thee to shame.  9  Debate thy cause with thy neighbour himself; and discover not a secret to another:  10  Lest he that heareth it put thee to shame, and thine infamy turn not away. 13  As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.  14  Whoso boasteth himself of a false gift is like clouds and wind without rain. 18  A man that beareth false witness against his neighbour is a maul, and a sword, and a sharp arrow.]

[Go not forth hastily to strive,] I have been there, provoked to say something out of anger before I actaully had the chance to think about it, even making false assumptions. This brings on another burden as a lack of trust comes into play. I have also had the same thing done to me so I know the burden I felt to even talk to someone. Well, there is a solution to keeping ourselves from acting out on impulse, become humble.

[James 4:1-3,9-10  From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?  2  Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.  3  Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts. 9  Be afflicted, and mourn, and weep: let your laughter be turned to mourning, and your joy to heaviness.  10  Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.]

So, how dooes humbling ourselves lessen our burndens? When we humble ourselves we actually help others through their burdens. Yes, that is correct, and sometimes the best way to get through our burdens is to help someone through theirs. And if we help those who accuse us we will get added bonus points.

[Proverbs 25:21-28  If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink:  22  For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.  23  The north wind driveth away rain: so doth an angry countenance a backbiting tongue.  24  It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.  25  As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.  26  A righteous man falling down before the wicked is as a troubled fountain, and a corrupt spring.  27  It is not good to eat much honey: so for men to search their own glory is not glory.  28  He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.]

[For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head,] Jesus, said it this way, [Matthew 5:43-45  Ye have heard that it hath been said, Thou shalt love thy neighbour, and hate thine enemy.  44  But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;  45  That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.]

If we are saved, born again Christians, then we represent Jesus Christ, everything we do ought to give glory to Him. While our burdens weigh us down from time to time, God’s grace is what picks us back up and gets us moving forward despite them still being there. God, wants us to have an amazing and prosperous life here, but He also wants us to be the best that we can be for no other reason than it being the right thing to do. However, those whom have wronged us will fall much further, and will have no one to pick them up.

[Proverbs 26:1-6  As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.  2  As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.  3  A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool’s back.  4  Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.  5  Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.  6  He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.]

[a rod for the fool’s back.] Yes, we have all been foolish about something, but you learn and you grow, but the true fool never learns and keeps doing the same thing no matter how hard the discipline. In this world, and including the religious world, it is much too common for glory to be given to the fools who are unworthy and unfit to even be in the positions they are in, but somehow are preferred over the qualified.

[Proverbs 26:10-16  The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.  11  As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.  12  Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.  13  The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.  14  As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.  15  The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.  16  The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.]

[both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.] God, knows the way we take and will reward us accordingly. The fool will often get corrected for their actions yet remain unruly, often becoming a burden rather than an asset to those who put their trust in them, but those who put their faith in Christ will have their reward, [Galatians 6:1-3  Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted.  2  Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.  3  For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.]

Never let a fool have rule over you, and never let them knock you down, if they do, never let them keep you down, get back up knowing that Jesus is right there with you. You are better than the fool, you have a lot going for yourself, you belong to Jesus and they know that too.

[Proverbs 26:22-28  The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.  23  Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.  24  He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;  25  When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.  26  Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.  27  Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.  28  A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.]

[A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it;] Have you heard the way some people talk when they try to justify their reason for doing the horrible things they do? They really do sound down right foolish and the reason they hate you is because they know that Jesus is with you, [John 15:20-21,26-27  Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.  21  But all these things will they do unto you for my name’s sake, because they know not him that sent me. 26  But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me:  27  And ye also shall bear witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.]

Jesus Christ Revealed/Magnified: [Proverbs 25:13  As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.]

Today’s Prayer: God, You do not keep us in the world to be a part of it, but to be a reflection of Your Son as we learn and grow into His likeness. While You never promised to remove our burdens once we received Him, You did promise to see us through them. Lord, I give my burdens over to You completely, lead me and guide me, fill me with Your power, mercy, grace, and strength to bear these burdens. You are carrying the weight for me, I just need to hold on and let You lead me. Help me to be cordial and friendly to all, even my enemies, and keep me humble so that I might be of help to those who are burdened as well. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
