Message: Washed By The Blood

Hello My Friend,

Wash; To cleanse by ablution, or by rubbing in water; as, to wash the hands or the body; to wash garments. If you have ever worked so hard to the point that you were sweaty and dirty you can appreciate a nice hot shower or bath, you can literally feel the dirt and grime come off as the water hits your body. No matter how clean our physical body is we can still feel dirty, guilt, shame, and fear are big culprits of feeling dirty down in our soul. Why? Sin. Even if we have not done anything sinful, life itself can pile on top of us and contaminate us. There is way to be purified and remove the filth of life and that is Jesus Christ, the second we receive Him as our Saviour we are washed, cleansed, purified of not only sin, but all the emotions that accompanied it, even if it was something in the past. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.” – I Corinthians 6:9-11.

Since God is holy He expects His people to be holy, that also means they are to keep themselves from defiling their bodies in any way. With over six hundred thousand people camped together in the woods you can image that it could get quite unhealthy if they did not take care of or clean up after themselves. To make sure they did not defile themselves God made rules even for cleanliness. First, he begins with food, He only allowed them to eat or even touch certain animal flesh.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, These are the beasts which ye shall eat among all the beasts that are on the earth. Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth, neither shall ye make yourselves unclean with them, that ye should be defiled thereby. For I am the LORD your God: ye shall therefore sanctify yourselves, and ye shall be holy; for I am holy: neither shall ye defile yourselves with any manner of creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. For I am the LORD that bringeth you up out of the land of Egypt, to be your God: ye shall therefore be holy, for I am holy. This is the law of the beasts, and of the fowl, and of every living creature that moveth in the waters, and of every creature that creepeth upon the earth: To make a difference between the unclean and the clean, and between the beast that may be eaten and the beast that may not be eaten.– Leviticus 11:2,43-47.

Ye shall not make yourselves abominable with any creeping thing that creepeth,” The reason the Jews were to follow this law was to set them apart from the rest of the world. The word abomination means filth, that is, (figuratively and specifically) an idolatrous object, unclean, and detestable. Quite often the animals God deemed as unclean were used in idol worship, which is the main reason why God did not allow them in the camp, other reasons were just for ones well being. While we are no longer subject to clean and unclean animals, the same concept still applies as Christians today. God has chosen to be our God through our acceptance of Christ, therefore, we are to be holy. Which means, we are not consume or touch anything that would defile our body, some of these things would be alcohol, drugs, and cigarettes.“What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – I Corinthians 6:19,20.

From uncleanliness contracted by the touching or eating certain animals, to uncleanliness of the body itself, God comes to the law in which they must take care of their body. Since we are all born in the womb of a woman filled with water and blood, God starts with the cleansing or purification of a woman after she has had a child.

Speak unto the children of Israel, saying, If a woman have conceived seed, and born a man child: then she shall be unclean seven days; according to the days of the separation for her infirmity shall she be unclean. And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female. And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.– Leviticus 12:2,6-8.

according to the days of the separation for her infirmity” Infirmity; An unsound or unhealthy state of the body; weakness; feebleness. Of course, a woman who just had a baby would be weak and unclean with her issue of blood, this did not mean that she did sinned when she conceived, this goes all the way back to Eve, when she sinned first. God put an enmity between her seed and His, meaning we are all conceived and born into sin (except for Jesus) and need to be cleansed. When Christ came through the natural birth of a virgin woman, remained sinless, died on the cross, was buried, and resurrected three days later, that enmity was removed, and an atonement was made for all who believe. Although Mary did not conceive Jesus through normal conception, she followed the law of purification after childbirth and was so poor that were His parents could not bring a lamb. Today, we too must bring an offering to be purified, and not only after childbirth, but from everything that made us unclean, that offering, Jesus Himself. “And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb. And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord; (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;) And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.” – Luke 2:21-24.

Leprosy is a chronic infectious disease that affects and controls the entire body, it starts out as a small white spot then slowly eats through a persons muscle, causing the nervous system to shut down as well as hair loss and even the loss of limbs. God gave specific instructions on how to handle those who appear to have leprosy.

When a man shall have in the skin of his flesh a rising, a scab, or bright spot, and it be in the skin of his flesh like the plague of leprosy; then he shall be brought unto Aaron the priest, or unto one of his sons the priests: And the priest shall look on the plague in the skin of the flesh: and when the hair in the plague is turned white, and the plague in sight be deeper than the skin of his flesh, it is a plague of leprosy: and the priest shall look on him, and pronounce him unclean. If the bright spot be white in the skin of his flesh, and in sight be not deeper than the skin, and the hair thereof be not turned white; then the priest shall shut up him that hath the plague seven days: And the priest shall look on him the seventh day: and, behold, if the plague in his sight be at a stay, and the plague spread not in the skin; then the priest shall shut him up seven days more: And the priest shall look on him again the seventh day: and, behold, if the plague be somewhat dark, and the plague spread not in the skin, the priest shall pronounce him clean: it is but a scab: and he shall wash his clothes, and be clean.– Leviticus 13:2-6.

the priest shall pronounce him clean:” Leprosy meant the person had to separate themselves from the rest of the people, even crying out, “Unclean, Unclean!” to keep people away from them. Leprosy is an illustration of sin, it starts out small and slowly takes control of the person, it will literally destroy them if they do not remove it from their lives. While we cannot always avoid the consequences of our bodies that result from filthy sin, we can control the consequence that comes to our soul from sin and that is by cleansing ourselves with the blood of Jesus. He alone pronounces us clean before His Father, and not only that we become one with Him as well, which makes God our Father also. “I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for them which thou hast given me; for they are thine. And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them. And now I am no more in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.” – John 17:9-11.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean.” – Leviticus 12:8.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus to show us the way to You, it is only through Him that we can be forgiven and washed of all our sin. As one of Your children, show me how You want me to live, teach me to be obedient to Your commands, keep me from exposing myself to sin, and help me to remain separated from the unclean world and make a difference as you day by day cleanse me from all that defiles my mind, body, and spirit. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
