Message: Bought And Paid For

Hello My Friend,

Jesus, Christ, Immanuel, Counselor, High Priest, Shepherd, Lamb of God, Morning Star, Judge, Angel of God, these are only a few of the many characters of Jesus, and each and every one of them serve a purpose all on their own. The one we should all know and trust most is Saviour, for He truly is the only one who saves our soul from the punishment of sin, death and hell. “For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous. Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 5:19-21.

As I was reading the chapters this morning it took my brain a while to comprehend what I was reading, but then I discovered something, there are so many references to Jesus in them that every paragraph could be addressed. However, I am going to talk about a few that we may not be aware of, one being the ransom.

When thou takest the sum of the children of Israel after their number, then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD, when thou numberest them; that there be no plague among them, when thou numberest them. This they shall give, every one that passeth among them that are numbered, half a shekel after the shekel of the sanctuary: (a shekel is twenty gerahs:) an half shekel shall be the offering of the LORD. Every one that passeth among them that are numbered, from twenty years old and above, shall give an offering unto the LORD. The rich shall not give more, and the poor shall not give less than half a shekel, when they give an offering unto the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls. And thou shalt take the atonement money of the children of Israel, and shalt appoint it for the service of the tabernacle of the congregation; that it may be a memorial unto the children of Israel before the LORD, to make an atonement for your souls.– Exodus 30:12-16.

then shall they give every man a ransom for his soul unto the LORD,Ransom; The money or price paid for the redemption of a prisoner or slave. Our souls are held ransom for our sins, rich or poor, there is one price to pay for sin and that is death and hell. However, Jesus bought and paid that ransom for us with His life, He became the sinless sacrifice that makes the atonement for our souls, and we are to never forget that or take it lightly. “For he that is called in the Lord, being a servant, is the Lord’s freeman: likewise also he that is called, being free, is Christ’s servant. Ye are bought with a price; be not ye the servants of men.” – I Corinthians 7:22-23.

Another reference to Jesus that struck me was the anointing oil used to sanctify the sanctuary, it was made of special spices and used just anoint the tabernacle with, anyone using it on a person or even mimicking the scent would be cut off from among the congregation.

Moreover the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Take thou also unto thee principal spices, of pure myrrh five hundred shekels, and of sweet cinnamon half so much, even two hundred and fifty shekels, and of sweet calamus two hundred and fifty shekels, And of cassia five hundred shekels, after the shekel of the sanctuary, and of oil olive an hin: And thou shalt make it an oil of holy ointment, an ointment compound after the art of the apothecary: it shall be an holy anointing oil. And thou shalt anoint the tabernacle of the congregation therewith, and the ark of the testimony, Upon man’s flesh shall it not be poured, neither shall ye make any other like it, after the composition of it: it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you. Whosoever compoundeth any like it, or whosoever putteth any of it upon a stranger, shall even be cut off from his people.– Exodus 30:22-26,32-33.

it is holy, and it shall be holy unto you.The tabernacle itself is represented as our body, when we receive Christ as our Saviour He anoints us with His blood, it is holy, therefore we are sanctified and holy before God through His blood that is poured upon our souls. There are many, many religions that proclaim that their way is the way to God and salvation, that in fact, many mimic Christ, but there is only way to God and be saved and that is through the true Christ. “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.– John 14:6.

Another reference to Jesus is the Sabbath, Jesus said, “For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.” – Matthew 12:8. We may not worship the LORD on Saturday’s today, some religions do, since Christ resurrected on the first day of the week most Christians worship Him on Sunday’s, but it is always important to take a day and give it all to God. God tells Moses the importance of keeping the sabbaths.

Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily my sabbaths ye shall keep: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you. Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that defileth it shall surely be put to death: for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. Six days may work be done; but in the seventh is the sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth any work in the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed.– Exodus 31:13-17.

that ye may know that I am the LORD that doth sanctify you.Sabbath; Intermission of pain or sorrow; time of rest. We are sanctified through the blood of Christ and we are to never forget that. Life can drag us down, God does not want is always dwelling on our problems or labor, we need rest and we need to rest in Him, pray, sing, serve, whatever we do we need a day to spend solely with God because it truly does refresh us. “Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.– Matthew 11:28-29.

Another reference to Jesus is mediator, this is actually through Moses. You see, it had been forty days and no sight of God or Moses, Israel wanted a god to worship, one they could see, so they forced Aaron to make them a god. God was so angry at their dancing, singing, and giving sacrifices to this golden calf that He wanted to destroy all of the people and start all over again. That was when Moses mediated with God and saved them.

And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play. And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves: Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation. And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand? Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever. And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people. And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold. Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written. And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.– Exodus 32:6-7,10-11,13-14,31-33.

him will I blot out of my book.” Yes, there is a book, and it contains the names of every saved soul, all the way back to Adam. Salvation has never been about obedience, if that were the case we would all be in hell, it is about trusting God and letting Him be LORD of our lives. Jesus is our mediator, the only one who can stand before God and plead with Him to save our soul. He only saves those who come to Him by faith, and this has always been the case. “And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie: but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.” – Revelation 21:27.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “And Aaron shall make an atonement upon the horns of it once in a year with the blood of the sin offering of atonements: once in the year shall he make atonement upon it throughout your generations: it is most holy unto the LORD.” – Exodus 30:10.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for sending Your Son whom is not only my Saviour, but my life. As much as we try to be faithful to You circumstances and life seem to always put us to the test. Time and time again, You prove that even when we do not see You You are working in our lives, You are growing us and preparing us for not only the task You call us to do, but to receive the promises You have for us. I am on Your side God, I want to be in Your will, even when You seem far away. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me Your power to remain faithful at all times, Your grace to get back up when I stumble, and Your strength to keep going even when I do not see You. I ask these things in the name of Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
