Message: 2 Chronicles: A Perfect House For God

Hello My Friend,

Foundation, That on which any thing stands, and by which it is supported. A house can be made of some of the most valuable materials, but without a good foundation, it is worthless. It can appear beautiful on the outside, and contain the most valuable possessions on the inside, but it is only a matter of time when it will fall without the proper foundation. A saved, born again person, one who has received Christ as their Saviour, has the most valuable possession they hold living inside them, Him. We can build a perfect house for God, but if we are not supported by Christ, it is worthless. “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour. If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.” – 2 timothy 2:19-21.

Solomon was given the task to not only reign over the kingdom after his godly father David, but also to build the first temple for people to worship God. I imagine Solomon was a bit uneasy about such a huge task, but God was with him and in the fourth year of his reign construction began. “Then Solomon began to build the house of the LORD at Jerusalem in mount Moriah, where the LORD appeared unto David his father, in the place that David had prepared in the threshingfloor of Ornan the Jebusite. And he began to build in the second day of the second month, in the fourth year of his reign. Now these are the things wherein Solomon was instructed for the building of the house of God. The length by cubits after the first measure was threescore cubits, and the breadth twenty cubits. And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the height was an hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold. And he reared up the pillars before the temple, one on the right hand, and the other on the left; and called the name of that on the right hand Jachin, and the name of that on the left Boaz.” – 2 Chronicles 3:1-4,17.

Names were given to the pillars, Jachin, he will establish, Boaz, quickness. Jesus, the supporter of every born again soul, sustains us and keeps us upright. Fitting that the temple was built on the very spot David met Jesus (the angel of the LORD) when he built the altar that held the sacrifice that stopped anymore people from losing their lives to the plague. Jesus will return and when He does it will be quick, and He will establish His kingdom in the earth. “Behold, I come as a thief. Blessed is he that watcheth, and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked, and they see his shame.” – Revelation 16:15.

It took about seven and a half years for the temple to be completed, but every detail was precise, everything that went into the temple was pure and only of the best quality. The furniture and amount of items in the temple, compared with that of the Tabernacle, showed that God’s church would be enlarged and multiplied greatly.

And Solomon made all the vessels that were for the house of God, the golden altar also, and the tables whereon the shewbread was set; Moreover the candlesticks with their lamps, that they should burn after the manner before the oracle, of pure gold; And the flowers, and the lamps, and the tongs, made he of gold, and that perfect gold; And the snuffers, and the basons, and the spoons, and the censers, of pure gold: and the entry of the house, the inner doors thereof for the most holy place, and the doors of the house of the temple, were of gold.” – 2 Chronicles 4:19-22.

of pure gold;” Gold, the most precious metal in the world. In ancient times, purifying gold involved it being melted down with flames reaching temperatures in excess of 1000°C/1832°F. A craftsman sitting next to the molten gold, stirred and skimmed it to remove the impurities that arose to the top of the molten metal. Today, chemicals are used to purify gold, it may get shiny, but will never get as pure as it would by fire. Believe it or not, we are gold to God. Before we receive Christ as our Saviour, we are like the rough gold that comes out of the mine, there are a lot of impurities in us. The second we receive Him, He removes our iniquities and makes our soul as pure gold, but our flesh needs work. And God does it the only fashioned way, with fire, things such as trials, affliction, and chastening. We will never be perfect until we get to heaven, but until then we can expect the fire. “Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ’s sufferings; that, when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy.” – 1 Peter 4:12,13.

Now after the temple was complete it was time to bring the Ark of God to it’s final resting place. Solomon gathered the priests and Levites together and put the Ark and all the holy vessels in their place. The Ark was a token of the presence of God, when the people saw the Ark they knew that God was with them. There was nothing in the Ark except for the two tablets of stone with the first Ten Commandments that God wrote Himself. These were to be a constant reminder of God’s Covenant with Israel and to make them a holy nation. With praise, thanksgiving, music, and singing all the people were gathered together as one to see this wonderful event take place. As soon as the Ark was in it’s place God took possession of the temple.

Then Solomon assembled the elders of Israel, and all the heads of the tribes, the chief of the fathers of the children of Israel, unto Jerusalem, to bring up the ark of the covenant of the LORD out of the city of David, which is Zion. And it came to pass, when the priests were come out of the holy place: (for all the priests that were present were sanctified, and did not then wait by course: Also the Levites which were the singers, all of them of Asaph, of Heman, of Jeduthun, with their sons and their brethren, being arrayed in white linen, having cymbals and psalteries and harps, stood at the east end of the altar, and with them an hundred and twenty priests sounding with trumpets:) It came even to pass, as the trumpeters and singers were as one, to make one sound to be heard in praising and thanking the LORD; and when they lifted up their voice with the trumpets and cymbals and instruments of musick, and praised the LORD, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: that then the house was filled with a cloud, even the house of the LORD; So that the priests could not stand to minister by reason of the cloud: for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.” – 2 Chronicles 5:2,11-14.

for the glory of the LORD had filled the house of God.” God shines through those who are living with Christ in their lives daily, He should be seen in every saved, born again soul, but He is not. If you looked directly into the sun, it blinds you, especially when you do not have any sun glasses on. Jesus does the same thing, look directly at Him with sin and He blinds us, but put on His glasses as we are able to look at Him. God blesses us when we keep His temple clean, and if we do get it dirty, wee need to confess it, and He will clean it up. Salvation is not about having a free ride to heaven, nothing is free, there is always a price to pay for sin. “Know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with mankind, Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God. And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God. What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own? For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God’s.” – 1 Corinthians 6:9-11,19,20.

Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed through the temple. The perfect temple built was a foreshadow of Christ, who raised up the temple of His body three days after His death. “Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” – John 2:19.

Today’s Prayer: God, I understand that the second I called on Your Son, Jesus Christ to save me Your Spirit entered my body and now You indwell in me just like You came into the temple in Jerusalem so many years ago. God, I want to feel Your presence upon my live, help me to remove the impurities that keep me from seeing You bless me, not with riches beyond my need, but wisdom and a wiling heart to be a faithful servant and a holy temple for You. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
