Message: A Nations Warning

Hello My Friend,

A few months ago there was this noise that sounded like gun shots outside, then a huge explosion. I looked outside only to discover a huge fire engulfing the trees, and it was just on the other side of my fence. Two things came to mind, the people who lived in a trailer home on the other side of the fence, and my church, which happened to be on the other side of that fence too. Thank God, that no other people or property was damaged or destroyed. I believe that God intervened that day and kept those flames from going any further, and proves as a great reminder that God will not destroy one city that has His people in it. However, there does come a time when He will destroy every nation that is evil. “At what instant I shall speak concerning a nation, and concerning a kingdom, to pluck up, and to pull down, and to destroy it; If that nation, against whom I have pronounced, turn from their evil, I will repent of the evil that I thought to do unto them.” – Jeremiah 18:7-8.

to pluck up, and to pull down,” The world thinks they have everything under control by their evil, state by state, governments are granting women the to right to kill a baby in their womb as they are being birthed. Not to mention, they are forcing citizens, companies, courts, and religious organizations to accept a male calling himself female as a female, same sex marriage, drug addicts living outside your doors, criminals having no jail time, illegal aliens getting the best care, while citizens pay for it, and are denied the same care. What they fail to realize is that God is in control, and if they continue in their evil, He will destroy city by city, until that evil is put away. In our Scripture reading yesterday, God told Abraham that He was going to visit Sodom and Gomorrah, to see if it was as evil as He heard. He did this by sending two angels.

And there came two angels to Sodom at even; and Lot sat in the gate of Sodom: and Lot seeing them rose up to meet them; and he bowed himself with his face toward the ground; And he pressed upon them greatly; and they turned in unto him, and entered into his house; and he made them a feast, and did bake unleavened bread, and they did eat. But before they lay down, the men of the city, even the men of Sodom, compassed the house round, both old and young, all the people from every quarter: And they called unto Lot, and said unto him, Where are the men which came in to thee this night? bring them out unto us, that we may know them. And Lot went out at the door unto them, and shut the door after him, And said, I pray you, brethren, do not so wickedly. But the men put forth their hand, and pulled Lot into the house to them, and shut to the door. And they smote the men that were at the door of the house with blindness, both small and great: so that they wearied themselves to find the door. And the men said unto Lot, Hast thou here any besides? son in law, and thy sons, and thy daughters, and whatsoever thou hast in the city, bring them out of this place: For we will destroy this place, because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD; and the LORD hath sent us to destroy it.” – Genesis 19:1,3-7,10-13.

that we may know them.” I will tell you, every time I read about this it is disheartening, as these men intended to rape these men. Rape of any kind is horrendous, and if Lot was willing to give his own daughters to these men in exchange for the men, you could imagine what they would have done to the men. And why God saw the need to destroy these cities. “because the cry of them is waxen great before the face of the LORD;” When evil overtakes a city the entire city cries out as countless people are murdered, diseased, addicted, and overtaken by its evil. There is no hope for them because they do not see or even know who God is. It has been my intention, and I really need to start doing this as God has been pressing me to do it, is to hand out bottles of water to beggars on the street with Gospel tracts on them. If they do not know the LORD, there will be no hope for they, and they will be destroyed. Now, the next morning, the angels rush Lot to get him and his family out of town as God was about to rain fire down from heaven, and it will destroy the cities.

And when the morning arose, then the angels hastened Lot, saying, Arise, take thy wife, and thy two daughters, which are here; lest thou be consumed in the iniquity of the city. And while he lingered, the men laid hold upon his hand, and upon the hand of his wife, and upon the hand of his two daughters; the LORD being merciful unto him: and they brought him forth, and set him without the city. And it came to pass, when they had brought them forth abroad, that he said, Escape for thy life; look not behind thee, neither stay thou in all the plain; escape to the mountain, lest thou be consumed. And Lot said unto them, Oh, not so, my Lord: Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy mercy, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die: Behold now, this city is near to flee unto, and it is a little one: Oh, let me escape thither, (is it not a little one?) and my soul shall live. And he said unto him, See, I have accepted thee concerning this thing also, that I will not overthrow this city, for the which thou hast spoken. Then the LORD rained upon Sodom and upon Gomorrah brimstone and fire from the LORD out of heaven; But his wife looked back from behind him, and she became a pillar of salt. And Abraham gat up early in the morning to the place where he stood before the LORD: And he looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah, and toward all the land of the plain, and beheld, and, lo, the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.” – Genesis 19:15-21,24,26-28.

And while he lingered,” Lot did not want to lose everything he had, I imagine he looked around wondering what he could grab and take with him. Nevertheless, the angels took his hand so that they could escape. “look not behind thee,” When God is providing an escape for us, we must not look back and what we are leaving behind. My mother, two brothers, and I grew up in a part of town that became evil, we did not want to lose everything we had, but as long as we stayed there we were losing it anyway. I was just learning about Jesus back then, and had no idea what salvation was, but God told us to get out before it was too late, nine months after we moved our house was burned down. God will protect, and take care of His people, even if that means He has to take things away from us (I Corinthians 3:10-15).

that I will not overthrow this city,” God allowed Lot to live in the city of Zoar or he would have, but he ran to the mountains anyway out of fear. If we are going to trust God to save our soul from hell through our faith in Christ, then we can trust Him with the rest of our life here. If we do not, then we only have ourselves to blame for the outcome of trying to do things ourselves. “and she became a pillar of salt.” Lot’s wife looked back as they were being pulled out of the city and lost her life. When are people going to realize that God us serious about this? You do not have tomorrow, you do not even have a minute from now, all you have is right now to choose Christ because when you see Him it will be too late. “Go to now, ye that say, To day or to morrow we will go into such a city, and continue there a year, and buy and sell, and get gain: Whereas ye know not what shall be on the morrow. For what is your life? It is even a vapour, that appeareth for a little time, and then vanisheth away. For that ye ought to say, If the Lord will, we shall live, and do this, or that. Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.” – James 4:13-15,17.

the smoke of the country went up as the smoke of a furnace.”Abraham looked toward Sodom and Gomorrah he saw the fire and smoke, God kept His promise not to destroy the cities unless the righteous, meaning believers, were removed. It must have been a sad and fearful sight, he decided to move, and ended up in another situation. Abraham leaves town and settles in Gerar for a while. It was there that the king of Gerar, Abimelech took Sarah, being led to believe that she was Abraham’s sister, and later got a visit from God.

And Abraham journeyed from thence toward the south country, and dwelled between Kadesh and Shur, and sojourned in Gerar. And Abraham said of Sarah his wife, She is my sister: and Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah. But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife. But Abimelech had not come near her: and he said, Lord, wilt thou slay also a righteous nation? Said he not unto me, She is my sister? and she, even she herself said, He is my brother: in the integrity of my heart and innocency of my hands have I done this. And God said unto him in a dream, Yea, I know that thou didst this in the integrity of thy heart; for I also withheld thee from sinning against me: therefore suffered I thee not to touch her. Now therefore restore the man his wife; for he is a prophet, and he shall pray for thee, and thou shalt live: and if thou restore her not, know thou that thou shalt surely die, thou, and all that are thine.” – Genesis 20:1-7.

She is my sister:” I often questioned this myself, but as I studied further I understood what Abraham meant by this. It is like my mother, her son had children with another woman, but because he is still her child, his children are her children, since they have two different fathers it is not incest. Now, my father has children from two different women, since we both have the same father we are all his children, and since we have the same father that would be considered incest. “wilt thou slay also a righteous nation?” News of God destroying Sodom and Gomorrah traveled fast, and this was exactly what God wanted. God never limited His protection, favor, or love to just what was to become the children of Israel through Abraham, He gave it to all who feared Him. Regardless, of how many see God as ruthless and merciless (thanks to all these stupid films and religions trying to portray Him as such), He truly is merciful, and gives all a chance to escape His judgments. Now, God promised Abraham that he would have a son with Sarah, the miraculous thing was that Abraham was a hundred years old and Sarah was ninety.

And the LORD visited Sarah as he had said, and the LORD did unto Sarah as he had spoken. For Sarah conceived, and bare Abraham a son in his old age, at the set time of which God had spoken to him. And Abraham called the name of his son that was born unto him, whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. And Abraham circumcised his son Isaac being eight days old, as God had commanded him. And Abraham was an hundred years old, when his son Isaac was born unto him. And the child grew, and was weaned: and Abraham made a great feast the same day that Isaac was weaned. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian, which she had born unto Abraham, mocking. Wherefore she said unto Abraham, Cast out this bondwoman and her son: for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son, even with Isaac. And the thing was very grievous in Abraham’s sight because of his son. And God said unto Abraham, Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad, and because of thy bondwoman; in all that Sarah hath said unto thee, hearken unto her voice; for in Isaac shall thy seed be called.” – Genesis 21:1-5,8-12.

whom Sarah bare to him, Isaac. The name Isaac means laughter, Both Abraham and Sarah laughed when they heard she was going to have a baby. Nothing is impossible with God, when He says He is going to do something He does it. And Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian,” This was Ishmael, he was fifteen, maybe sixteen years old, mocking Sarah. It is important that people respect their step-parents, or siblings from other fathers or mothers. And this is exactly why God has never allowed a man to have more than one wife, He just dealt with it because of His faithfulness to fulfill His promises. “Let it not be grievous in thy sight because of the lad,” Of course, Abraham was grieved that he would no longer see his first born son, but he was not God’s plan for him, Isaac was, and had he remained in Isaac’s life things would have turned rather quickly as we recall, Ishmael had an Egyptian mother. The birth of Isaac of the miraculous power of God but, more important, it was the fulfillment of His Word, and proof of the His faithfulness to us, even when we are not the best of Christians. We are saved by grace, no matter what life we live after we are saved, because we are promised eternal life solely upon our faith in His Son, Jesus Christ as our Saviour. “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” – Romans 6:23.

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You for Your mercy and grace to save a sinner like me. Lord, I want to live my life with You in it, even if that means I have to give up some things or even separate myself from friends and family in order to do that. I know that all the things I do not only impact my life, but others as well, help me to be a godly influence and a testimony of the great life that can be lived by living to please You and not the world. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
