Message: A Mediator To God
Hello My Friend,
Faith, to persuade, to believe, to obey. I often say that our faith in God is like a roller coaster, it goes up and down, twists and turns, and gives us highs and lows the whole time we are on the ride. And while all we need is a little bit of faith to move mountains, our faith is really not the problem, we are. It is easy to believe that God can do the impossible, but it is hard to believe that He can do it for us. The devil likes to make us think that God sees no good in us at all, but that is a lie. True Christians are harder on themselves than God actually is, in fact, we punish ourselves more than God does. While God does say there are none good, He never said that we cannot do good, just that we are not do enough good to get to heaven on our own. “There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:” – Romans 3:11,12,20,23,24.
Good, complete or sufficiently perfect in its kind. When we stop to think about how incomplete we really are, we can see that we are not good. The second a person is born they are incomplete because they do not have the Spirit of God in them. Now, this has been the case since Adam, and the same rule applies, you must have the Spirit of God in you to be good and complete. Being good (salvation) has always been the same, believe in God, walk with Him, if you sinned, confess it, bring your offering to God, and you will be redeemed and complete. The difference between now and before Jesus gave His life for man, it was not permanent. So, when a person sinned they were terrified of sinning against God again. During the time of Job, they really had to walk by faith because they did not have His Word to guide them. When his friends started accusing him of some hidden sin he was not about to let them just condemn him because he knew that whatever he was going through was not from sin.
“Therefore I will not refrain my mouth; I will speak in the anguish of my spirit; I will complain in the bitterness of my soul. Am I a sea, or a whale, that thou settest a watch over me? When I say, My bed shall comfort me, my couch shall ease my complaint; Then thou scarest me with dreams, and terrifiest me through visions: So that my soul chooseth strangling, and death rather than my life. I loathe it; I would not live alway: let me alone; for my days are vanity. What is man, that thou shouldest magnify him? and that thou shouldest set thine heart upon him?” – Job 7:11-17.
“I will speak in the anguish of my spirit;” Did you know that we have a right to speak out to God about how we are feeling? He wants to hear our complaints. Because that is when He talks to us the most. Many times we hear things and wonder perhaps we are doing something wrong because we are being afflicted. Keep in mind, it is the devil who puts that stuff in our heads. Never let the deception of the devil confuse you into thinking God is telling you that you something. We are the ones who beat ourselves up by putting things in our heads when we are being afflicted. Stop beating yourself up, its okay to go to God with your complaints, He wants to hear them, and he will tell you what you need to hear through them. “Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” – Romans 8:26,27.
After Job defends himself, another friend, Bildad speaks. There is not much given about Bildad, he was a Shuhite (of African descent) but his name means, son of contention (strife), his view of Job was that he was a hypocrite, and if he would just confess his sins God would cure him. “Then answered Bildad the Shuhite, and said, How long wilt thou speak these things? and how long shall the words of thy mouth be like a strong wind? Doth God pervert judgment? or doth the Almighty pervert justice? If thy children have sinned against him, and he have cast them away for their transgression; If thou wouldest seek unto God betimes, and make thy supplication to the Almighty; If thou wert pure and upright; surely now he would awake for thee, and make the habitation of thy righteousness prosperous.” – Job 8:1-6.
“If thou wert pure and upright;” Do not let people or yourself, obviously under the influence of the devil, talk you into believing that you are being punished for something you are not doing. The Holy Spirit is our Guide, surely, if you were doing something sinful, He would tell you instantly, He does it to me all the time. Listen to the Holy Spirit, who lives in you if you are saved, and tell the devil to get lost. “But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak. For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.” – Matthew 10:19,20.
Sometimes it seems as if the whole world is against you, even family and friends. People are too quick to throw accusations, but very little encouragement. It is like the saying, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all. I do not recall any times that I have been afflicted where someone did not say something to try and make me feel worse. Job knows that he is a sinner, but also that he did not sin in this case. He answers Bildad.
“How much less shall I answer him, and choose out my words to reason with him? Whom, though I were righteous, yet would I not answer, but I would make supplication to my judge. If I had called, and he had answered me; yet would I not believe that he had hearkened unto my voice. For he breaketh me with a tempest, and multiplieth my wounds without cause. He will not suffer me to take my breath, but filleth me with bitterness. If I speak of strength, lo, he is strong: and if of judgment, who shall set me a time to plead? If I justify myself, mine own mouth shall condemn me: if I say, I am perfect, it shall also prove me perverse. For he is not a man, as I am, that I should answer him, and we should come together in judgment. Neither is there any daysman betwixt us, that might lay his hand upon us both. Let him take his rod away from me, and let not his fear terrify me: Then would I speak, and not fear him; but it is not so with me.” – Job 9:14-20,32-35.
“Neither is there any daysman betwixt us,” Daysman, mediator, one who can speak to someone on their behalf. Job just wishes that he had someone to get between him and God, someone who can speak to God on his behalf. It was bad enough that he lost his children, everything he owned, and his health taken from him, his friends were throwing all sorts of accusations at him too. He wanted someone on his side, someone who did not judge him. There really has always been a mediator between God and man, first it was the prophets, but now it is Jesus Christ. Today, He is the only mediator to God. “How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God? And for this cause he is the mediator of the new testament, that by means of death, for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first testament, they which are called might receive the promise of eternal inheritance.” – Hebrews 9:14,15.
Jesus Christ Revealed: Today, Jesus is revealed through the Daysman, who in the mediator who speaks to God on mans behalf. Jesus is the only mediator to God. “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.” – 1 Timothy 2:5.
Today’s Prayer: God, It’s amazing what You reveal to us in such a simple form, we can’t always avoid those who are quick to judge us, but we can stay positive when we are near them. Lord, I want to live a life that is pleasing to You, I want to live in a way that others see Your Son in me. I know You do not look at our past to determine our future, You look at us through Your Son, and what He does through us. I thank You for that because I know I can never fully be without sin until the day you take me home. Lead me and guide me, let me be an encouragement to those who need it, and Your light to those who are covered in darkness. Thank You so much for saving me from my sins and the horrible life I could have lived had I not turned to Your Son. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
