Message: A Humble Spirit

Hello My Friend,

Well, I gave my notice at my job because I got another job, part of me was hoping he would tell me not to leave, that he needed me, but he said nothing, only that I needed to give him my resignation in writing. The thing is, I know he was sad to hear me say I was leaving, and I am sure he wanted me to stay, but his pride refused to allow him to speak up, besides he knew he did not treat me well. That got me thinking of how many people reject Jesus, knowing what He can do for them, knowing that they need Him, yet their pride keeps them silent. Pride always comes before a fall, even if it takes a while to stumble. “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.” – Proverbs 16:18-19.

Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly,” Humble; It simply means to submit. Better it is to have a submissive spirit with the lowly, these are those who do not think so highly of themselves that they think they are God Himself. I have a hard time being submissive myself, I never want help from anyone because I do have a strong will about me and really have never trusted anyone to do things for me. A submissive spirit says, I not only believe in Jesus, but that I need Him, very few people are willing to admit they believe in anyone let alone Jesus. Now, as Jesus was headed up to Jerusalem He stayed in Galilee during the feast of booths as He knew the Jews sought Him to kill Him for curing the man with the withered hand on the sabbath day. However, He secretly went up just to see what they were all saying about Him and began teaching in the temple. Like anyone else would do that heard lies being told about them, Jesus spoke up.

And the Jews marvelled, saying, How knoweth this man letters, having never learned? Jesus answered them, and said, My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me. If any man will do his will, he shall know of the doctrine, whether it be of God, or whether I speak of myself. He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him. Did not Moses give you the law, and yet none of you keepeth the law? Why go ye about to kill me? The people answered and said, Thou hast a devil: who goeth about to kill thee? Jesus answered and said unto them, I have done one work, and ye all marvel. Moses therefore gave unto you circumcision; (not because it is of Moses, but of the fathers;) and ye on the sabbath day circumcise a man. If a man on the sabbath day receive circumcision, that the law of Moses should not be broken; are ye angry at me, because I have made a man every whit whole on the sabbath day? Judge not according to the appearance, but judge righteous judgment.– John 7:15-24.

Judge not according to the appearance,So many people are quick to judge you because of your faith, the reason I sought a new job in the first place was because my supervisor cut me a day from work because I would not work on Sunday, he had no problem before and could have given me another day, but I said church was more important than work so he refused and left me with twenty-six hours a week as a full-time employee. We have every right to make the right judgment call when it comes to our well being, just like we cannot force them to believe, they cannot force us not to, but believe it or not, the world tries everything to get us to go against our faith to serve them, and the thing is, they do not even follow their rules themselves. After Jesus left they did what everyone else would do, started talking about Him, anyone who even attempted to say they believed in Him was reprimanded.

Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet. Others said, This is the Christ. But some said, Shall Christ come out of Galilee? Hath not the scripture said, That Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was? So there was a division among the people because of him. Then answered them the Pharisees, Are ye also deceived? Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed on him? But this people who knoweth not the law are cursed.– John 7:40-49.

Are ye also deceived? It is funny how everyone gets alone until you disagree with them. Do you see what they do here to get people to question the Bible? They certainly know what the Scriptures say, but twist things a little bit to make people question it’s authenticity. It is those who think they are above the Law that have a problem with the Law. Let me tell you, no one is perfect, no one can say they have not done anything wrong in their lives, and those who refuse to admit that have a much bigger problem to deal with. Now, that Jesus (who is the Word of God in the flesh) was teaching the Law, the Jews had a hard time believing that He was the one that all the Scriptures talked about, in fact, they did not want to hear anyone even agreeing with Him. Jesus confronts the Pharisees who questioned His accountability.

Then said they unto him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also. These words spake Jesus in the treasury, as he taught in the temple: and no man laid hands on him; for his hour was not yet come. Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go, ye cannot come. Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? because he saith, Whither I go, ye cannot come. And he said unto them, Ye are from beneath; I am from above: ye are of this world; I am not of this world. I said therefore unto you, that ye shall die in your sins: for if ye believe not that I am he, ye shall die in your sins. Then said they unto him, Who art thou? And Jesus saith unto them, Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.– John 8:19-25.

Even the same that I said unto you from the beginning.Jesus is the same, He never changes, what He says from the beginning He will continue to say until every prophecy is fulfilled. In the beginning, God had Moses interpret the Law, but even then they questioned it, likewise, with many of the priests and prophets God used. As Jesus continues speaking, Abraham came up, they could not get past the fact that Jesus measured Himself above Abraham, and He said something that drove a nail in their hearts.

Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad. Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am. Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.– John 8:51-59.

Before Abraham was, I am.” The world cannot see past their eyeballs, and even then they only see what they want. Had these fools really studied the Scriptures and believed them they would have seen that Jesus is the Messiah and has been here from the start, in fact, has always been because He is truly God in the flesh. We must have a submissive spirit to truly understand all that God has to show us. Will He show us everything? No. Some things He wants us to trust and believe by faith alone. “Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.” – Hebrews 11:3.

Jesus Christ Magnified: “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.” – John 8:36.

Today’s Prayer: Jesus, Thank You again for the sacrifice You made for me, I do not have eternal life based on any thing that I have done, but my faith and trust in what You have done. Lord, lead me and guide me, give me Your power to have a submissive spirit, help me to live not by man’s word, but by Yours, for I know You are the way, the truth, and the life. While people may come and go in my life You will never leave nor forsake me no matter how many times I mess up. Thank You for Your grace, mercy and never ending love. In pray in Your name Jesus, Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
