Message: Matthew/Mark: The Tribulation
Hello My Friend,
As we continue in the reading of the Gospels we learn of the tribulation that is to come prior to the return of Christ. If what we are seeing today seems bad, just imagine what it will be like when God and Christ is not even spoken of or in fact, any mention of Him will be an instant death sentence. Those days are fast approaching and God is giving us a huge wake up call before that happens. Just think of the days of Jeremiah when God sent judgment on Israel after years of warning them and we can get a better picture of what is going on today.
[Jeremiah 15:6-8 Thou hast forsaken me, saith the LORD, thou art gone backward: therefore will I stretch out my hand against thee, and destroy thee; I am weary with repenting. 7 And I will fan them with a fan in the gates of the land; I will bereave them of children, I will destroy my people, since they return not from their ways. 8 Their widows are increased to me above the sand of the seas: I have brought upon them against the mother of the young men a spoiler at noonday: I have caused him to fall upon it suddenly, and terrors upon the city.]
The thing about all this is that the world causing all the trouble are clueless to the fact that they are the problem, but they are quick to blame the Christians and Jews. I am talking about the Orthodox Christians and Jews, who follow the old school biblical doctrine and not this new age garbage that started all the way back during the days when God was silent for four hundred years. The first time that the disciples heard Jesus talking about the tribulation was when He spoke of it in front of the religious groups in the temple. So, naturally they were quite curious about what He was talking about. Now, learned this from Luke, and Matthew and Mark, both give the account of Jesus explaining to them what is going to take place prior to the tribulation, then His return.
[Mark 13:1-7 And as he went out of the temple, one of his disciples saith unto him, Master, see what manner of stones and what buildings are here! 2 And Jesus answering said unto him, Seest thou these great buildings? there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives over against the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew asked him privately, 4 Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign when all these things shall be fulfilled? 5 And Jesus answering them began to say, Take heed lest any man deceive you: 6 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. 7 And when ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars, be ye not troubled: for such things must needs be; but the end shall not be yet.]
It does not take a scientist to know that something is not right with the world. Things are actually better than were before Christ’s passion but the wicked are quite ruthless when they do not get their way. However, what Jesus was about to speak to them about had already been spoken about by other prophets, in particular, Daniel. Jesus, could have responded to their question like He did when the Pharisee’s wanted a sign, but He did not, He does respond with more chilling news.
[Matthew 24:9-16 Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name’s sake. 10 And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. 11 And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. 12 And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. 13 But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. 14 And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come. 15 When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) 16 Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains:]
Do you see what I have been talking about, I mentioned something about this yesterday. This is the passage that Jesus was referring to, [Daniel 9:25-26 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times. 26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off, but not for himself: and the people of the prince that shall come shall destroy the city and the sanctuary; and the end thereof shall be with a flood, and unto the end of the war desolations are determined.]
While we will never fully comprehend everything that Daniel had written about the tribulation, we can understand that we would not want to be here when that happens. If all that is going around in the world is not the beginning of sorrows, then I do not know what it is. Many of these things we are seeing today, earthquakes in places that never experienced them, diseases returning, viruses killing people, and of course nations are divided and rising up against one another. Nevertheless, we are not to be troubled, only to observe and be ready for the day. This is why it is important to be living an honest Christian life, [1 Thessalonians 5:2-4 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night. 3 For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.]
Jesus, goes on to tell of some things that ought to be chilling to us us well, He goes on to warn them and all of us that this is not the time to be concerned about what is going to be lost, but rather those who are lost.
[Mark 13:15-20 And let him that is on the housetop not go down into the house, neither enter therein, to take any thing out of his house: 16 And let him that is in the field not turn back again for to take up his garment. 17 But woe to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! 18 And pray ye that your flight be not in the winter. 19 For in those days shall be affliction, such as was not from the beginning of the creation which God created unto this time, neither shall be. 20 And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect’s sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.]
Wow! It seems as though we are not far from this, but do you see why things are not as bad as they will be? There are still many faithful followers of Christ here fighting for the cause. However, there are less today than there were even a few years ago. This revival that is taking place since Charlie Kirk’s death may have gotten people to start going to church again, but if it is not the right church then they were better off not even knowing.
[Titus 3:8-11 This is a faithful saying, and these things I will that thou affirm constantly, that they which have believed in God might be careful to maintain good works. These things are good and profitable unto men. 9 But avoid foolish questions, and genealogies, and contentions, and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain. 10 A man that is an heretick after the first and second admonition reject; 11 Knowing that he that is such is subverted, and sinneth, being condemned of himself.]
Some false religions teach their members that the elect are specifically chosen before they are even born. The truth is, everyone is born with the knowledge of God in them at birth, but their bringing up and heart is what removes it, [Romans 1:20-21 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.]
Just the other day I was reading an article about a governors wife who is teaching their children to disrespect the president. Now, we may like the president or their polices, but we still need to respect them, as with anyone else in office. My point is, you train your children in the way that they will go, if we are teaching them to be disrespectful to those who may not live like we do then we are teaching hate and then we are going to wonder why our children have no respect for us, [Proverbs 22:4-6 By humility and the fear of the LORD are riches, and honour, and life. 5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward: he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them. 6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.]
If you ever wondered why people believe they are born with homosexual desires, not the gender they are born as, or that it is okay to intentionally kill a baby in the womb, this is exactly why. There is a reason why a famous quote came into existence years ago, “A mind is a terrible thing to waste.” when we are left to our own imaginations it truly is a waste. Nevertheless, Jesus, will save the vilest of sinners if they opened their hearts to Him. Christ’s elect, the ones who chose Him, are the ones He has chosen to escape the great tribulation, and it is after the tribulation that He will return.
[Matthew 24:27-31 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. 29 Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: 30 And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other.]
Boy, the way things are going I sure would not mind seeing those angels, at least my family will be coming with me and we would all be going together. Christ’s elect will not be on the earth when it will be destroyed! This is why it is important that we talk of the truth while we are able to do that. Yesterday, people made decisions that are going to devastate our economy and nation as a whole. We have, but a short time on earth, we cannot live life as though once we die, it is over. Jesus, simply states that no one will know the time that He will return, not even Him, but we do need to be prepared, and just getting saved is not going to prepare us.
[Matthew 24:32-39 Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: 33 So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. 34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. 35 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 36 But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. 37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. 38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, 39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.]
Every time I read this I think about the days before the great flood, how bad it must have been, and how much they must have been mocking Noah until the rain came and the door was shut to them. We have, but a short time on earth, we cannot life live as though once we die, it is over. I have seen Christians do some crazy things when they thought they were going to die also. Jesus, simply states to simply watch for the signs.
[Mark 13:33-37 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. 34 For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. 35 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: 36 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. 37 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch.]
I do not care how knowledgeable you are about the tribulation or how prepared you think you are for what is to come, no one, not even God, wants to see this earth come to an end, but He will not watch it be destroyed. We have a choice, we can get on board with Jesus or stay behind and get washed up or rather burned up in the fire. Jesus, points this out also.
[Matthew 24:45-51 Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? 46 Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. 47 Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. 48 But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; 49 And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; 50 The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, 51 And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.]
Jesus, has no room for those who mess with and distort the Gospel, which sends their believers straight to hell. Ignorance does not save us, if we choose to believe the lie over the truth we will be cut off the vine. We who are saved get grafted into the tree of life, therefore we gladly proclaim the simplicity of the Gospel and do not change it, anyone who does will answer to Jesus, [1 Thessalonians 4:13-15 But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.]
Today’s Prayer: God, There is a fine line between having concern for and being troubled by all the evil that is taking place today as we see the signs coming of the tribulation. It is comforting to know that Christ is my Saviour, that He is on the throne right next to you, and I do not have to be here when the tribulation comes. You are my witness that a life lead by Christ is one of abundance, and while I do have to endure the evil taking place, I know that Jesus is my strength, my motivation, and reason for living a life that is pleasing to You. Lord, Lead me and guide me, put Your hedge of protection around Your elect, keep us save from the evil. Send Your mercy and grace to the weak, touch the hearts of the fearful and troubled and let us awaken those who are sleeping. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
