Chapters: Isaiah 1-4
Message: Isaiah: God’s Judgment Warning to Judah
Hello My Friend,
As we begin the reading of Isaiah we learn that God is a jealous God and will never share the spotlight with any other god. God gives everyone a choice, freewill gives us the option of whether or not to follow Him. Those who choose to follow Him are expected to follow Him wholeheartedly and no other gods, and yet still today there are many saved, born again Christians who do just that, and the gods in which God is referring to are idols in the form of people, animals, astrology, cults, and even self made. Jesus, said it this way, [Revelation 3:15-17 I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot. 16 So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth. 17 Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:]
The Book of Isaiah is the twenty-third book of the Old Testament/Bible and contains sixty-six chapters. The author of the book is Isaiah and it was written to Judah and all believers. The timeline for these events took place between 766 BC to 679 BC. The purpose of the book was to teach correction and reproof to all believers. What we are to learn from the book is that rebellion leads to destruction, but repentance leads to restoration, [Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.]
The Book of Isaiah is actually a mirror of the entire Bible. The entire Bible has sixty-six books, Isaiah has sixty-six chapters. The Old Testament has thirty-nine books covering the history and sin of Israel, and the first thirty-nine chapters of Isaiah do as well. The New Testament has twenty-seven books describing the ministry of Jesus Christ, including the new heaven and earth, and the last twenty-seven chapters of Isaiah do as well. During the time that his father Amos was in Samaria warning Israel of the judgment they are in, Isaiah was in Judah, telling them the same thing will happen to them in the future if they do not repent.
[Isaiah 1:1-5 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah. 2 Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me. 3 The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master’s crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider. 4 Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward. 5 Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.]
When the famines, droughts, natural disasters, and even minor attacks on our nations do not draw the people to God that is when He lets them fend for themselves until they either call out to Him or are destroyed. Remember the attacks in America on September 11, 2011? These attacks actually had people seeking Christ and returning to church in record numbers. I believe that if something like that were to happen today that the majority of people will not flinch, in fact, they would probably be praising the attack. The only reason why we have not had a major attack placed on us as of yet is because of God’s faithful remnant who are still out there preaching the Gospel, which Isaiah goes on to tell the people here.
[Isaiah 1:9-13 Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah. 10 Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah. 11 To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. 12 When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? 13 Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.]
How long do these fools who abuse the great gift of salvation by grace in their faith in Christ think they can live like heathens and get away with it? I imagine that it must grieve God to see nation upon nation turning their backs on Him and that includes millions of churches who have gone rouge and or corrupted them with sin. Yet God has so much mercy and always has His hands out urging them to return to Him and worship Him as they ought to be. God, goes on to make a bargain with them.
[Isaiah 1:16-20 Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil; 17 Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow. 18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool. 19 If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land: 20 But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.]
There are two major problems with churches today and the reason why so many people have left, they are either so strict that even some of the things Jesus did here on earth would be considered sin or they are so lax that there is no reason for them turn to Jesus. God, has kept things simple from the beginning, “Keep my commands and live.” and His commands are not grievous, [1 John 5:2-3 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. 3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.]
Everyone has rules to follow whether it is jobs, school, traffic, or the laws of the land, and as you can see by the way things are going today with the lawlessness, protests, and revolts, when the people do not follow the rules it is utter chaos and confusion like you would not believe. God, goes on to explain how He will bring order back to Judah.
[Isaiah 1:24-28 Therefore saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies: 25 And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin: 26 And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city. 27 Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness. 28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.]
This would be Christ’s passion. The blessing of redemption through Christ’s sinless crucifixion (judgment) actually is the foundation of reconciliation with God. The remnant of believers not only being the ones favored, justified, and pardoned of sin, but also converted with righteousness through their faith in Him alone, [Romans 3:23-24 For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; 24 Being justified freely by hi
We have written within this prophecy a reference to the true Israel of the New Testament, in other words, the Church of Jesus Christ, in the perfection of its nature as it was built by Jesus Christ Himself. This was not a message to Israel as a whole, this was a message to Judah and Jerusalem, the holy city of which the Church would be built upon the mountain of LORD’s house. God, gives us a glimpse of the day that Jesus would come to judge all the world from Zion.
[Isaiah 2:2–5 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more. 5 O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of the LORD.]
Actually, this would be when Christ returns and will reign the earth for a thousand years, it will also be when the Jews will finally acknowledge Christ for who He is, and His saints will also reign with Him, [Revelation 20:4 And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years. Matthew 19:28-29 And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 29 And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life.]
There is no greater peace than knowing that Jesus is lighting your path in this dark world, He sends His light down the darkest of days. In fact, the second we get saved we are walking in then light of Christ, [1 Peter 2:9-10 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.]
We must understand that these are not people who do not know any better, these are people who know the Law and were religious. Keep in mind that God never stops pleading for His people to return to Him, even when judgment comes, but repentance must take place while their breath is still in them.
[Isaiah 2:10-12,20-22 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty. 11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low: 20 In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats; 21 To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth. 22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?]
When you stand before Jesus and give an account of the life you lived will it be one in which you at least received Him as your Saviour? Or will it be one is which you worshiped the creation over the Creator? Sadly, there will be many who will stand before Him and discover that God gave them up because they gave Him up.
[Romans 1:21,25-27 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.]
If you are scratching your head wondering why a natural born male believes himself to be a female, this is why. This all stems from one generation after another of churches getting lax in their teaching of what is morally right and wrong. The majority of churches today have no idea why Jesus died for them and what repentance means, and they too will be judged for sending people astray, in fact, they will be the first to be judged. However, God, knows exactly what they are doing, and ignorance does not save anyone, regardless of whether or not they were misguided, they believed the lies over the truth. And let me tell you, if they are going to believe the lie, then He will actually hand them over to them, which we find out why through Isaiah.
[Isaiah 3:1-5,8 For, behold, the Lord, the LORD of hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem and from Judah the stay and the staff, the whole stay of bread, and the whole stay of water, 2 The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient, 3 The captain of fifty, and the honourable man, and the counsellor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator. 4 And I will give children to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them. 5 And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbour: the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honourable. 8 For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen: because their tongue and their doings are against the LORD, to provoke the eyes of his glory.]
Wow! Are we not seeing this today? We are seeing young, arrogant, godless men and women taking over businesses and running towns and states like you would not believe. And since they have no true judgment of what actual history is and what their founders did to make their nations great, they are leading them straight to ruin. Through Isaiah, God, goes on to address this very issue with Jerusalem who is on a downhill slide worse than Sodom.
[Isaiah 3:11-12,15-18 Woe unto the wicked! it shall be ill with him: for the reward of his hands shall be given him. 12 As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths. 15 What mean ye that ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor? saith the Lord GOD of hosts. 16 Moreover the LORD saith, Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet: 17 Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the LORD will discover their secret parts. 18 In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments about their feet, and their cauls, and their round tires like the moon,]
Sin is no longer something shameful, especially with the young, in fact, it is down right acceptable. There is no such thing as discretion anymore even in many of the churches, and they are leading so many people to their own ruin, [1 Corinthians 5:1-2,6-7 It is reported commonly that there is fornication among you, and such fornication as is not so much as named among the Gentiles, that one should have his father’s wife. 2 And ye are puffed up, and have not rather mourned, that he that hath done this deed might be taken away from among you.6-7 Your glorying is not good. Know ye not that a little leaven leaveneth the whole lump? 7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:]
All of this is in reference to what will take place at the Last Judgment, the oppression and persecution of the Church of God, and for this the Lord will punish the wicked. However, we are already getting a glimpse of this, and it is not only the princes and rulers of the people who have brought God’s judgment upon themselves, but also the women. God, points out all the embellishments that they used to assist in their sin and how it will all be taken away from them and they will be exposed for who they truly are. What will be more astounding is that the women will not even marry for love.
[Isaiah 4:1-4 And in that day seven women shall take hold of one man, saying, We will eat our own bread, and wear our own apparel: only let us be called by thy name, to take away our reproach. 2 In that day shall the branch of the LORD be beautiful and glorious, and the fruit of the earth shall be excellent and comely for them that are escaped of Israel. 3 And it shall come to pass, that he that is left in Zion, and he that remaineth in Jerusalem, shall be called holy, even every one that is written among the living in Jerusalem: 4 When the Lord shall have washed away the filth of the daughters of Zion, and shall have purged the blood of Jerusalem from the midst thereof by the Spirit of judgment, and by the Spirit of burning.]
One man to seven women, that is insane, but quickly becoming the state of the world. With so many abortions and men getting killed there is quickly becoming a shortage of men on this earth, but there always has been. In fact, there are more women raising their kids on their own then there has ever been right now. However, there is hope because when Christ does return He will not only cleanse Jerusalem, He will cleanse the whole earth. Let me tell you, it is Jesus who takes away our reproach, which is the shame and disgrace we face for our sin, [Romans 15:3-4 For even Christ pleased not himself; but, as it is written, The reproaches of them that reproached thee fell on me. 4 For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.]
If you think about it, both Jews and Christians have been reduced to a religion, when God has nothing to do with religion. Being Jewish, Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, Jehovah’s Witness, Mormon, or Muslim does not save anyone, only Christ does, and to be honest, a Christian is not a Christian unless they personally know Jesus Christ as their Saviour, [Hebrews 12:18,22-23 For ye are not come unto the mount that might be touched, and that burned with fire, nor unto blackness, and darkness, and tempest, 22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, 23 To the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect,]
Today’s Prayer: God, Thank you for sending Your Son to make redemption for our sins permanent. We no longer have to offer animal sacrifices because we are redeemed by the precious blood of Your Son once and for all. We know that salvation does not give us a free pass to live in sin and not suffer for it, it does give us the opportunity to show Your Son to the world and receive much more through our faithfulness to You. Lord, we who are saved and born again are Your light that shines through us as we walk the path You give us, lead us and guide us, help us to seek Your truths and live by them so we can be an honor to You. Put Your hedge of protection around us, and give us Your strength and courage to boldly proclaim Your Son to the world. Let us not be afraid to speak the true Gospel, and give the words of wisdom to approach anyone who teaches the lies. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.
God Bless You, I am praying for you,
Christina
