Study: Power Given to The Faithful

Hello My Friend,

I was not feeling very well yesterday, I barely made it to work, then when I got home I ate dinner, watched the church service on TV, where my nephew goes to college. As soon as the service was over, I fell asleep, woke up just long enough to help my mom with something, and went straight to bed. I would like to say that I am feeling better, but I am not. I woke up several times, part of it was because I had fallen asleep so early. We are told that if we are going to be productive, then we need to get seven to eight hours of sleep, I get on average, about five, lately, it has been about four, which is why I feel so terrible, while I am at my best around six. Sleep is good, but we should also keep in mind that too much sleep will lead to us actually becoming a sluggard.

[Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise: Which having no guide, overseer, or ruler, Provideth her meat in the summer, and gathereth her food in the harvest. How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep? Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep: So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man. – Proverbs 6:6-11]

I do not particularly care for ants, but God has a point, they keep working to gather as much food as they can for the winter months when it becomes scarce, and that is when they get to rest a little bit. Do you know why we get so tired? We spend so much time on things that really have no value that we exhaust ourselves not only physically, but mentally as well. I heard a preacher say that burnout is the result of trying to do everything on our own without God, including His work. Well, he made some sense there, and as I was reading the chapters for today, this passage came to mind.

[Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the LORD, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint. – Isaiah 40:28-31]

As we draw closer to Jesus returning, I am noticing a lot of people living on the streets, strung out, drug addicted, and their minds are completely gone, it is like they have lost the ability to reason. You see them and wonder what must have pushed them over the edge that their minds have gone haywire. Now, I know some people are living that way by choice, others are in a bad way and are too proud to seek help, and others are suffering from some form of Post-traumatic stress disorder, but regardless, it is very concerning. And as we return to the reading of Psalms, we get a message from God Himself as He recalls when He had proved Israel.

[To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day. For this was a statute for Israel, and a law of the God of Jacob. This he ordained in Joseph for a testimony, when he went out through the land of Egypt: where I heard a language that I understood not. I removed his shoulder from the burden: his hands were delivered from the pots. Thou calledst in trouble, and I delivered thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder: I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. Selah. – Psalms 81:1-7]

[I proved thee at the waters of Meribah.] This is God speaking right here, and He is not done speaking, and really only has one request that we all should be following as well, [Hear, O my people, and I will testify unto thee: O Israel, if thou wilt hearken unto me; There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any strange god. I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it. But my people would not hearken to my voice; and Israel would none of me. So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust: and they walked in their own counsels. – Psalms 81:8-12]

[So I gave them up unto their own hearts’ lust:] Does this sound familiar? It should, [For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; – Romans 1:26-28]

God, while He loves everyone He creates, and sent Jesus for everyone, He will not waste His time on the reprobates, other than perhaps using them to send judgment. God gives each and everyone of us the freewill to choose Him as their God. We are all born with the knowledge of God from birth, but life and the way one is raised is the factor that removes that knowledge, [For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. – Romans 1:20-21]

These Psalms for today are addressed to mixture of people, all familiar names that we learned of since we started reading 1 Chronicles, and they all have a similar message choosing God, and what happens to those who do not choose God. And these are from well before Jesus came here in the flesh, so, believers before He came here were well aware that hell is the destination for all who do not trust in the LORD for their salvation. Notice how the psalmist points out that the dead are not remembered by God.

[A Song or Psalm for the sons of Korah, to the chief Musician upon Mahalath Leannoth, Maschil of Heman the Ezrahite. O LORD God of my salvation, I have cried day and night before thee: Let my prayer come before thee: incline thine ear unto my cry; For my soul is full of troubles: and my life draweth nigh unto the grave. I am counted with them that go down into the pit: I am as a man that hath no strength: Free among the dead, like the slain that lie in the grave, whom thou rememberest no more: and they are cut off from thy hand. – Psalms 88:1-5]

[whom thou rememberest no more:] The dead are those who are not saved, unlike those of old whom were counted righteous through their faith in God, or today, through accepting Christ, and they will be remembered no more. Those who are living, on the other hand, have hope beyond the grave, when their bodies will raise up when Christ returns for them, [And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err. – Mark 12:26-27]

God does not waste His time or effort in those who are reprobates, which is why He gives them up. Their minds have been corrupted, whether it is their own self god complex as Satan has, or they are too proud to admit that they are sinners and need Christ, they made their choice, and they will have to live with it for eternity.

[A Psalm or Song for the sabbath day. It is a good thing to give thanks unto the LORD, and to sing praises unto thy name, O most High: To shew forth thy lovingkindness in the morning, and thy faithfulness every night, Upon an instrument of ten strings, and upon the psaltery; upon the harp with a solemn sound. For thou, LORD, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. O LORD, how great are thy works! and thy thoughts are very deep. A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this. When the wicked spring as the grass, and when all the workers of iniquity do flourish; it is that they shall be destroyed for ever: But thou, LORD, art most high for evermore. – Psalms 92:1-8]

[A brutish man knoweth not; neither doth a fool understand this.] The word brutish means; [Insensible; stupid; ignorant; uncivilized; untaught.]. Wow! If there was ever a reason to call someone stupid, it truly is those fools whom are trusting in themselves to save them, or even worse, think that once they die, it is all over for them. We will all spend eternity somewhere, [Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live. For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself; And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation. – John 5:25-29]

Yes, God, in all His glory, power, and majesty, in the Godhead, of Him being the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, gave the power to the Son to not only give life to those who put their faith and trust in Him, but will return as KING, to judge each and every one of us.

[The LORD reigneth, he is clothed with majesty; the LORD is clothed with strength, wherewith he hath girded himself: the world also is stablished, that it cannot be moved. Thy throne is established of old: thou art from everlasting. The floods have lifted up, O LORD, the floods have lifted up their voice; the floods lift up their waves. The LORD on high is mightier than the noise of many waters, yea, than the mighty waves of the sea. Thy testimonies are very sure: holiness becometh thine house, O LORD, for ever. – Psalms 93:1-5]

[mightier than the noise of many waters,] I use to love, and still do, to hear the sound of the waves in the ocean come crashing onto the shore when it is pitch dark. While rain, thunder, and lightening all come from above, there is nothing on this earth more powerful than the waves. So, can you imagine just how powerful the voice of Jesus will be, when all He does is speak your name? Oh, and, it will only need to be a whisper for every believer to receive the resurrection of life.

[And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. And it was so, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle, and went out, and stood in the entering in of the cave. And, behold, there came a voice unto him, and said, What doest thou here, Elijah? – 1 Kings 19:11-13]

Right now, I will tell you this, it really does feel like true and faithful Christians are few and far between, many are hiding out in fear, and God is actually asking us the same question. We have nothing to fear if we have honestly and sincerity trusted Christ as our Saviour, even if we died defending our faith, we would be with Jesus. In fact, we would be seeing Him face to face as well as our loved ones that have gotten there before us. Right now, we have work to do because we truly are one blink of an eye closer to Christ returning, [But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. – 2 Peter 3:10]

Today’s Prayer: God, Thank You, for sending Your Son, Jesus, to give His own life to save us from eternal damnation. You give us all a choice, we can either accept the truth, that Christ is the only way to be saved, or reject that truth, but once we make that choice, there no turning back. And because we do not know the hour in which You will send Your Son, we must make sure that we tell everyone we can that all of this chaos we are under right now is only the beginning and in order to escape what is to come, they too need Jesus. We have nothing to fear when we trust You through all of this. Lord, lead us and guide us, put Your hedge of protection around us, shield us from Satan and all those reprobates who try to stop us. Give us Your strength and courage to stand behind our faith, and not live in fear, only trust You. I ask these things in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

God Bless You, I am praying for you,

Christina
